DEATH DIVE by Kait Carson

DEATH DIVE by Kait Carson:

When Hayden Kent begins a new job as a paralegal and claims investigator for Worldwide Insurance, she doesn’t imagine that her duties will nearly end her life. As an expert SCUBA diver, she suspects that Joe Taylor faked his death in Belize’s Blue Hole in order to get the insurance payout for his wife and children. Over the misgivings of her boss and the machinations of the wife’s lawyers, Hayden wrangles her way to Belize to prove that Joe and Cassandra Taylor are scammers. In the azure waters of Belize, she encounters both danger and romance. Her attempts to unravel the Taylors’ twisted plot reveal a plethora of suspects, each with the motive and opportunity to either kill Taylor or conspire in his disappearance. Hayden’s stubborn insistence that he is alive not only threatens her job security, but puts her in the sights of a killer and might drown her budding romance with a sexy diver/film producer, who could have reasons of his own to conspire with the so-called dead man.

I am not a diver (my saltwater experience amounts to thrashing around with a snorkel while fearing that sharks will chomp me for lunch), but as I read this book, I find myself deep in the Blue Hole with the intrepid Hayden. I can almost feel swirling ocean currents and see rising bubbles as Hayden knifes into the deep— sometimes ALONE. I catch my breath when things go wrong a hundred feet below the surface. My husband—an experienced cave diver— is impressed with the author’s dive experience and depth of knowledge. Ms. Carson’s descriptions are spot on, he says. He would dive with her, which is saying a lot for a Southern man disinclined to put his life in anyone else’s hands.

In addition to enjoying this undersea adventure from the safety of my armchair, I enjoy the author’s sharp dialogue and self-effacing humor. She strikes the right balance between tension and its release. Master storytellers give the reader a moment to breathe after upping the tension. Ms. Carson does this well.

If you’re still in the grip of Old Man Winter in your part of the world, I encourage you to buy this book. Like me, you’ll feel the kiss of a tropical sun and the touch of warm waves against your skin. And you just might want to don flippers and head South for a dive trip. One caution: Ms. Carson describes the Blue Hole as deep and dark enough to bury your body forever, so be sure that a killer’s not planning to drown you. And watch out for sharks.

Doesn't work

I subscribed to Bookbub and have seen several books I wanted. I got a couple, through Kindle but now every time I try to buy it says, " thanks Tammy A. (Which isn't me,) And I don't get the book.i don't seem to get charged either, but when you think you are getting a book you want it's frustrating. And who is Tammy and how could her name show up on my account?

My first experience with Book Bub

My first experience with Book Bub. One of the books they recommended for me sparked my interest. The offer indicated the book was available on Amazon for $2.99 "for a limited time only". I immediately pressed the clickable button, but when I got to Amazon, the price was $9.99. I guess the 30 seconds it took me to decide I wanted to read the book exceeded the allotted time limit. 😩

A sweet, small-town love story

A sweet, small-town love story. Main Characters were likeable and grew throughout the story. There were a few too many cliches for me, and a couple of grammar inaccuracies, but all in all an enjoyable read. I will read more books by this author. I received an ARC from BookSirens, and this is my honest review.

BookBub fools members outside the US

I enjoyed BookBub in the beginning, but not any longer. There are hardly any books available for instance from Amazone and Barnes & Noble recommended by BookBub, and after having wasted far too much time on trying to order, I have finally been informed by B&N that ebooks are not available to customers not having an address in the US. Why does BookBub send us all these daily offers without informing us that they are not available to readers outside the US? Now it's just a waste of time.

Cliffhangers! They leave you hanging:(

I enjoy Bookbub for the most part, but there is one major problem with their offerings…cliffhangers. You finish one book that ends with a cliffhanger and they do not offer the next book. This is the only issue I have with Bookbub.

I signed up and order a book recently…yes, Jane & Edward

I signed up and order a book recently from Bookbub for my Kindle. It never showed up on my Kindle and Amazon did not charge me for the book. I don't think Bookbub ever submitted my request though it appears in my account as being a book I "own". Their Customer Service is completely lacking. They never said they would research my order. All they did was tell me to contact Kindle which I did. They found no trace of the book or order, i.e.--they are not responsible. It is apparent they never received an order. Just stopped my membership to Bookbub. Buyer beware. Didn't cost much ($1.99) except that this has eaten an incredible about my time with no resolution.

Swoony Moon

I was hooked and couldn't put the book down. Another captivating read by author Tess Thompson. This story deals with childhood trauma, its impact on relationships and moving forward. Is it possible two decades later to build on childhood bonds after sharing a traumatic life event? Tess Thompson deals with this subject in a graceful manner and points to healing through the lives of the people in the story. A story I didn't want to end.

'Secrets In The Mirror'

I just finally finished this book I had purchased a while back. With my work schedule I don't get to read as often as I would like. This book has truly got me back to reading. Kept my attention the whole time and made me teary eyed at the end. Highly recommend.

Great first experience

Never heard of Bookbub until recently. Tried it and the first title I found was a cracker - 'Charlie's Little Secret' by Gerry Duffy. Great thriller. Looking forward to finding lots more new authors on Bookbub.

Are the books just a loan?

I’m just wondering why I don’t get chance to read about 20 of the books I ‘bought’ before it says “ loan ended” . Could it be because they come from Amazon? The idea is great, but, at the moment, I feel quite cheated.

The best source for Kindle books

I've had to unsubscribe from BookBub twice because I get so, so many brilliant recommendations! I have a stock of titles to read and just don't have the time!
When I get through them, I'll be back. It's the best place for Kindle books by far
