Great Service

This concept is an ingenious one for avid readers who like perusing a rotating list of titles, but suffer analysis paralysis when checking out the veritable buffet of options at a bookstore or library. The books arrive quickly and I've always received the correct title picked each month.

Such a great service

Book of the Month is such a great service for people who love to read! They have a small fee and free gift to join which got me interested. Their customer service is amazing! I wrote a review on a book I had a heard time reading just to let others know it wasn’t very good. BOTM reached out to me and offered a free book credit simply because I didn’t enjoy the book I bought and read! I didn’t complain, I didn’t ask for a refund, they offered it to me! You also earn book credits for buying books so most months I pay for one book and get another book free with a credit! I have also had a couple months where I simply ordered a free book with my credit and paid nothing! I love it and so far have enjoyed every book I’ve chosen besides the one!

Good, not perfect

I’ve been a been a Book of the Month member for 9 years.
Recently the better books have been add ons that you can only get if you pick one of the monthly selections or member favorites.
The best I can describe it is the monthly selections are more forgettable. As an example, Fredrick Backman’s My Friends was recently an add on and to-date it’s rated as loved by 79% of members. In comparison in the June selections, member loved ranges from 33%-64%, with one being Next to Heaven by James Frey who has admitted to using AI to write.
With that being said, I’ve had many wonderful books from BOTM throughout the years currently sitting on my favorites shelf, and I still anxiously wait for the beginning of every month to see what the new selections are.

I love book of the Month club!

I love book of the Month club. There are so many amazing great books. 📚 Half of them, I probably would not read just because I wouldn’t know about them, living such busy lives, not having the time to peruse books at a bookstore. Book of the Month provides a great literary experience.

Drastically Declining Experience

I used to absolutely love everything about this subscription. I’ve had it for years and have gifted it to friends/family on multiple occasions.
However, more and more frequently, I find myself not interested in any of the selections or available add ons, so I skip months quite often. Now I’m starting to lose credits I’ve paid for (which honestly feels illegal—they aren’t free credits, I paid for 12/year and I don’t believe that my payment should expire) simply because the quality of the options (in my opinion) have gone down. I’ve wasted 3 credits on books I couldn’t enjoy enough to finish at this point.
With the price per credit going up and paying not guaranteeing you get a book eventually, I will likely stop my subscription after I’ve used (or lost) my remaining credits.

I can't say enough good things about Book of the Month Club! As an avid reader, this subscription has completely transformed my TBR list—in the best way. Every month, I look forward to the carefully curated selections across a wide range of genres. Whether I'm in the mood for a buzzy thriller, heartfelt contemporary fiction, or something totally unique, BOTM always has something that catches my eye.

Your boxes are terrible and don't…

Your boxes are terrible and don't withstand weather. They fall apart when they get wet. I am still waiting on replacement books. I may end up canceling. Too many ruined books.
