Absolutely LOVE my book of the month…
Absolutely LOVE my book of the month subscription! I get to choose which book I’m more interested in reading and if I don’t like any of them I can EASILY skip a month. I love it. The books are pretty and I literally have 10 books from them and the dust covers are so pretty. I do wish that the cover was actually printed in the book so that I could enjoy without the dust covers but I will make do! Lol

Choices are pretty mainstream and not my cup of tea, but are based on what many people are looking for these days: thrillers, light beach reads, and vampire fantasy.
The shipping is incredibly efficent--fast and correct everytime. The website is also super user friendly. Based on their response time to my previous review, customer service is superb and willing to listen to customer experience.

New release hard cover books for less
I LOVE that every month we have at least 5 books of varying genres to pick from and if we don't like any options our credit rolls over to the next month. I also love that we can get a new release hard cover add on for less than a hard cover at a book store. I am glad I found BOTM

Love BOTM! It gets me out of my reading rut and introduces me to new authors and genres I wouldn’t have had the pleasure of experiencing otherwise. It’s affordable, especially for hardbacks and audiobooks, and the challenges are a great way to expand your book collection/genre experience.
Quality of the actual book is just satisfactory
I think the company has good customer service and was responsive to emails only. I received the first book at $5 for Silver Elite. The book was clean and in good condition. The shipping box was destroyed which is not good for a book company. The disappointment came in the quality of the book. The sprayed edges were lack luster and not bad but not exceptional. The hardcover book looked old school two tone and nothing special. The pages were not of high quality and the book did not lay nicely. It felt cheaply published. The quality of printing from B&N was much greater. If I could return this I would. I also do not like that I cannot cancel my membership UNTIL the date of the first shipment. I am fine needing to buy the next month at $20 as this was stated upfront. But I did not expect that I could cancel future months until this next mo shipped and before the next rollover. I am pretty disappointed in this.

The Best!
I’ve been with Book of the Month since 2017! I love seeing which books will be offered each month. I usually choose an add-on for the great price of $11.99 - for a hardcover!! When even PAPERBACKS are $18+ this is such an amazing deal!

The only subscription service I haven't quit.
I love my BotM subscription and have had it for years. I get so excited towards the end of every month, waiting to see what the new books are going to be, knowing the variety in options are going to be top-tier. It is so helpful being able to carry over my credits too! If I'm bogged down with my TBR pile or I know I'm going to be swamped with work, I can skip and have that as an extra credit to use next time. Even the customer service team is awesome to work with! They are quick to respond and very understanding of any issues I might have had. Love, love, love!
So I was gifted a 12 month subscription…
So I was gifted a 12 month subscription and am three months into it. And so far I have been very disappointed with the selections for the BOTM options. Even the add-ons are in my opinion subpar. I would not recommend this site to anyone. My 2 sisters and I got this gift and the three of us are in agreement that we feel forced to pick books because our family went through the effort to get us each a BOTM subscription.
For the cost of the subscription there should be better selections every month to choose from.

I have been somewhat a happy customer…
I have been somewhat a happy customer for a little bit. I don’t always like the choices but obviously that’s a personal opinion. My issue with the company is the free gifts!! of course everybody wants a free gift when you splash it all over Facebook and Instagram. and the company was running a free baseball hat when you enroll however I noticed that members that have been subscribed for years also got the hat. I was confused by this so I contacted customer service. I really wasn’t told anything except they sent a link to purchase the hat for 14.99 I was really curious why some people got it for free & why some people didn’t get it for free and some people had to sign up with a new subscription?!?!! so I splashed my question on Facebook and Instagram and finally got a response. I was then told FINALLY the hat was only for new members, and then there was another hat that was sent out for members that completed some goals. I was told very sternly explained and was basically called a liar About people receiving the hat that weren’t new members. I don’t know. It’s all very confusing and it doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t feel that the handful of people I spoke to were lying about receiving a hat. that’s just silly to lie about something like that but according to book of the month, they are lying, so with that said, I just put my membership on pause for right now and probably just gonna continue with a cancellation because I just don’t like the vibe of it. If you’re gonna send something out to members, it should be to all the members or you should have a clause on why some were chosen to receive something and some were not chosen to receive something and I don’t wanna hear the excuse that the hat was just for new subscriptions because go look on Instagram there are books Instagram accounts promoting that they got the hat when they have been a subscriber for years so naturally, I’m like I want the hat too please or at least give me a logical explanation on why. And this isn’t just the first incident like this. This has happened before with their gifts and now I just want to speak out and say something because I put the same amount of money into my account like everyone else so why do they get free stuff and I don’t? And honestly, all this over a hat.? Eek… better to just go my separate way then, sad but whatever if a company doesn’t appreciate their customers why stick with them??

Can you do this with a gym membership
I’ve been a BOTM member for a little over 2 years. I love the benefits you get when you get to BFF status. But personally, I think the best thing is if you don’t like their preselected books for the month, you can “skip” that month and your already paid credit then gets moved to the next month!

I have love being a club member. I find joy in the options to choose from month to month. The shipping is quick and always arrives in good condition. I would've loved it someone bought me a year long subscription as a gift!
I bought my 90 year old mother 12 month…
I bought my 90 year old mother 12 month gift from BOM. She received the gift card in the mail. Using the directions on the card to redeem her gift she was promptly asked to renew, add a credit card, and pay $5. I went to get house and helped. Was able to get the first book shipped but was bombarded by advertisements to renew, buy more, put credit card number on file..etc. Very disappointed. Not a very good gift. First book won't be shipped for a week. Advertisements for more are constant.
