Aggressive manager Glasgow fort

I would have loved to give this review a big “0” but wasn’t an option went into brandmax (fort ) who’s manager David was the most argumentative and arrogant person I have ever encountered… there was an item at £20 (yellow label ) but had a £15 (red label ) reduced on it to went to tills to be told it was £20 but I said it’s red label was £15 basically he said it’s £20 don’t like it get out the shop wow what an attitude should never be in a managers roll WILL NEVER BE BACK

Alex the rude Manager and Refused to Fix Their Own

I am extremely disappointed and shocked by the treatment I received at Brand Max, particularly from the store manager, Alex (payroll number 454423). This experience was completely unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the company’s customer service standards and management.

On 25/05/2026, I purchased two identical items from the Mansfield store. One item was charged correctly, while the second identical item was incorrectly charged £10 more than the advertised/shelf price. This was a clear pricing error made at the checkout, and I have the receipt proving the overcharge.

As I live in Dewsbury, a considerable distance from the store, I contacted the store immediately by phone to explain the issue and request a straightforward resolution. Since this mistake was entirely caused by the store, I reasonably asked whether the overcharge could simply be refunded back to my card remotely, rather than forcing me to make an unnecessary journey.

What followed was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

From the very beginning of the call, Alex was rude, dismissive, confrontational, and completely unwilling to help. Instead of acting professionally or attempting to resolve the issue, he told me, “I am not customer service,” in a hostile tone, making it very clear he had no interest in assisting me. He then arrogantly stated, “I deal with loads of people like you,” which I found deeply disrespectful, insulting, and completely inappropriate behaviour from someone representing the company in a management role.

Despite me remaining calm and simply asking for a fair solution to a mistake made by the store, Alex repeatedly refused to listen, interrupted me, and insisted that I had “no choice” but to travel back to the store in person. He showed absolutely no understanding of the inconvenience, time, fuel costs, and frustration this would cause — all because of an error made by his own staff.

What is most concerning is not just the overcharge itself, but the attitude and behaviour displayed by a store manager toward a paying customer. Managers are supposed to resolve issues professionally, respectfully, and with basic courtesy. Instead, I was treated as though I was an inconvenience for reporting a mistake the store made.

This entire situation could have been resolved quickly and professionally, but instead it became stressful and upsetting because of the behaviour of the store manager.

Head office seriously needs to review the management and customer service standards at the Mansfield store, because no customer should be treated this way for reporting a genuine pricing error made by the store itself.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend this store to anyone.

Customer service by manager shocking!!

Was in Glasgow fort store, and the customer servicei received by the MANAGER was shocking he should not be working with the public the way he spoke to us and accused us of taking a price sticker off so we could get it cheaper, this item that was in cages where marked £10 the same item was on hangers priced £25 the item i had and no price marked on it and came from the cage where there was loads of them all £10... so when I was at the till they said it was 25 so I asked why it was 25 when I got it from the pile where they where all 10, boy a desk said he could give it to me for that price so he said he can ask his manager, well when the manager came his attitude and the way he spoke to us was terrible straight away very rude, i explained the situation and straight away he said well I know what's happened you have taken the price off it,I was shocked how he just blatantly accused me of this when I genuinely did not, he said i check camera so i said yes please do it now but he then started shouting, swearing to get the fk out the shop , he would not give his name.. as I want to make a complaint, no customer should be spoke to or accused like that.. i didn't need the item that bad we had just spend over 350 that day. He left me extremely angry upset after accusing me of something I did not do now I won't be back to the shop to be around someone like that... he should not be working with the public.. oh and the way I heard him speak to the staff was also terrible, i have sent a email complaint with no reply as of yet but if they continue to have someone like that in the store people with avoid

Purchased Hunter boots from shirebrook…

Purchased Hunter boots from shirebrook outlet. Cashier very rude, rang another item through the till which I had said twice wasn’t mine. Huffed when she had to void this item. No eye contact, no please or thank you, handed over £120 for a £113 total, she counted it 3 times, asked a colleague to count it, then put it in the till and gave me the receipt…. No change. When I pointed this out, she again huffed and muttered, she at no time apologised infact gave dirty looks. When the manager arrived I politely and quietly asked if they do customer service training, his attitude was as bad, and stated “why’s that then?” I began to explain my grievance, he totally ignored me, when I said to the cashier, you have reacted as if it was my fault her answer was ‘well i did then’ . Do not expect a good experience with some staff here, no manners, rude, attitude etc.

I would have given this company a 0 if…

I would have given this company a 0 if possible.
Purchased a suitcase ladt year, used once, lining torn.
Tried to return and was told as its not within 30 days, nothing they could do.
Contact customer service through website. Advised me to return if faulty.
Did so, initially manager tried to put through refund but didn't work. He then left till to make a call and came back with terrible attitude, absolutely disgraceful. After his abuse, I was told to leave the store.
Glasgow Fort, do not go near. Brandmax, I will never shop here again.
No way to actually complain about this treatment either. No telephone number.

First and last visit - Glasgow Fort

Visited the Glasgow store for the first time and it will be the last. The Manager is so rude and unhelpful and should not be working with the public.

I chose an item which only had the price in euros so asked the girl behind the till if she could help. She was lovely but could find them in her system so radioed her manager for help. That's where it all went wrong. He barked at her several times then just made up a price for her to use! I wasn't happy with that so left the item but on way out shop stopped to speak to the manage to explain properly to him what the issue was. I shouldn't have bothered. The was he spoke to me was shocking amd I can't believe I actually walked away without giving him a piece of my mind.

Will never ever return here and will make sure I tell others not to bother.

The managers attitude needs to be addressed before they have no customers at all

Glasgow Fort store - will NEVER go back

We shopped in the Glasgow Fort store today and that will indeed be our last. I had already purchased something from the store when we noticed lights on the way out the store. We had been looking for outdoor lights and these were ideal with a price sticker on them for £7. When we went to the till to pay, we were in for them they were £9.99. We explained that they were priced as £7 and asked to speak to a manager as the assistant said he couldn’t do anything. The manager attended and said they were £9.99 on the till and that it was ‘obviously a ticketing mistake’. I’m not how we were supposed to know that it was ‘obvious’ in a discount store. We said but they are priced at £7 on the box. The manager proceeded to them imply that we had switched a ticket price on the box, burst out laughing when we stated that we would not do that and that the customer services was poor. When we stated that trading standards meant that this was not the price advertised, he stated that he had 48 hours to rectify it’ stated ‘I’m not selling it to you at that price’ and that he had ‘sorted it’ by taking the ticket off of the box. If it wasn’t for the fact that we really needed to get them we would have walked out. He then proceeded to bag the item and sarcastically told us to ‘have a nice day’ as we left in front of other customers.

purchased pair of slazenger golf shoes…

purchased pair of slazenger golf shoes on the 13/08/23 at Glasgow Fort branch wore them only 7 times and the upper split took back to branch on the 14/12/23 and asked for manager but he was on a conference call assistant female manager came to deal with me showed her the shoes and explained how often they had been used refused to give a credit or change them even though they were faulty then asked me if there were split when I bought them replied by saying why would I buy a faulty pair of golf shoes she then stated that they were not therefor faulty when they left the store I asked for customers service s nos she stated there was not I then asked for head office nos she stated again there was not one eventually she said I should look on the web when I asked her for her name so that I could use her as a reference with regards to my complaint she refused to give me it and stated she did not have to give me it . This company really has to have a good look at its staff training and customer services lucky they even got 1 star

Shocking

On shopping in the store in Tullamore with my husband, he needed to use the bathroom, as a cancer patient and needed bathroom service, I asked the lady on the floor upstairs could he use the bathroom, she said no customer bathroom, I said thats no problem, not that I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important, told her he held the card for use of a cancer patient to use a bathroom , which the cancer society have faught for for people like him, she said I can't help you , she said burger King or tesco had toilets , shame on them , these people in the cancer society do amazing jobs for people like my husband, more so than you do packing shelves, so next time have some sort of compassion for oeople whom really need help, last time I will shop there , shocking hope your getting paid enough

Awful customer service Carlow Store

Awful customer service, rude staff not trained, don't have any customer service skills. Staff lack consumer law knowledge. Should be sent on a training course for both. Two different euro prices on merchandise and selling at the higher price - gross mis-selling, store needs to be visited by the consumer watch dog. I would give it a score as 0. Carlow store avoid at all costs.

PLEASE Be AWARE.Purchased some Adidas Sliders for my son on 02/06/23. Unfortunately I purchased the wrong size.The Sliders were £19.99 but in order to return them i had a 40 minute travel one way that is,in order to return them, which i understand is cost of fuel and inconvenience to myself.The following day I returned with my son but they didn’t have his size.I went to the tills expecting a full refund due to the fact he had only slipped them on his feet in the house and they didn’t have Is size in stock.I was told in a nutshell all you’re getting is CREDIT NOTE.In the end i purchased some Hugo Boss priced at £47 minus my £19.99 for my troubles.PS The place is CON a sleeping partner of Sports Direct without the service.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Absolutely shocking service from…

Absolutely shocking service from Brandmax in Mallow! Never have I ever came across such an aggressive , ignorant staff member in all my life. I am actually astounded to think how one could be employed by a company. My mum went to return wellingtons that were faulty and the reception my mum received from the staff member was astounding! Trying to tell my Mum that they firstly were not faulty even though my mum was trying to show her where they were faulty but the staff member kept shutting down my mum and having an aggressive tone towards her, then when she finally shut her mouth for what was only 5 seconds when she could see the hole in the wellington she then started to blame my mum saying that it was wear as a result of being on a farm, which is quite laughable considering we do not live on a farm and my mum only wore them twice. I lose interest in a shop when you start disrespecting customers especially my Mum who is in her 70’s. Imagine you have a staff member employed who is actually turning away business for your store? It is absolutely amazing how she is left carry on working when she is aggressive towards customers. One does not expect to go into a shop and be treated like complete dirt. It was the worst experience in a shop ever! You should be ashamed of yourselves as a company. Sports direct staff are obviously not qualified properly and lack interpersonal skills immensely. I would expect to be treated with respect when I enter / purchase in a shop. After all we customers are paying these workers wages. I feel Brandmax ( Sports direct) in Mallow will be no longer in business shortly when they have an employee who is aggressive towards customers. If she has an issue in her life then she needs to stay at home because I no longer shop here as a result of the fear of her attitude and aggressiveness and fear that she will be working in the shop on the day I want to go shopping. Imagine that…… a customer in fear to shop in a store because of an aggressive employee?
Now that is unacceptable!

I will take my money elsewhere any day than shop in fear in your store and give my hard earned money to pay wages to an employee who in turn treats my Mum and I like dirt. Absolutely not ! We won’t be disrespected! We were very loyal customers of Brandmax. We loved the girls working upstairs. They were always so nice to us and treated us so well however Brandmax staff were taken away from the checkouts upstairs and payments are made downstairs at Sports direct. The Staff at Sports Direct need to learn how to speak to people!

No refund given 2 hours after purchase

Only gave a star so I could write review in brand max maynooth today made some purchase 2 hours later tryed to return one item the don't give refunds the rude older cashier keep repeating herself it says so on the receipt you have to make the purchase in order to get your receipt & than it's to late I said to her put a sign up no refund or at least tell customer her reply I don't have to tell you anything how rude customers be aware NO Refund & rude staff explains shop empty on a Friday afternoon....

Be careful...display deceptive prices...e.g. pricing in sterling and charged in euro ( one purchase marked 17, but at till 25...assistant tgen "explains" that the 17 was sterling...why is it allowed to price like this in Maynooth Ireland where it is Euro only???
