It used to work but I think it was changedin some update.

When using ExpressVPN the browser is dumb. It is extremely useless with VPN services, becasue ith forwarding me to any search server it wants. If I set my location to Danmark it will search in Sweden, US or UK, and it will continue doing so even after turning off my VPN. It was working fine with VPN before, but now it is the most annoying thing for browsing the internet. Wanna go safe browsing? Get FireFox and DuckDuck Go and use virtual machines. There is just no easy way to do it.

Another Tech Company Going Downhill

Brave's mobile browser has gotten worse after multiple months. It has become a scam at this point when its developers ignore people's complaints. So, nothing gets fixed. I can no longer log into Outlook or Gmail with Brave's horrible mobile browser. I get an error message from Gmail. When typing the Outlook link, it no longer shows the webpage. It's only a black screen. On top of that, I hate downloading things from Brave's mobile browser. There's no organized way to make downloads download from a particular folder on Brave's mobile browser. Instead, you can only put downloads in your phone's Download folder. Which is a pain. Another pain is that you cannot rename files before downloading them from Brave's mobile browser. So, I hate Brave's mobile browser because it's not organized. Another thing I hate is that Brave's mobile browser's desktop site option doesn't work. You don't really get a desktop version of sites with Brave's mobile browser. It's just an illusion. Brave's desktop browser lets you do a lot more things. I never have any problems on Brave's desktop browser. So, Brave's mobile browser is a total ripoff and scam, especially when its developers ignore people's complaints. So, nothing gets fixed from Brave's mobile browser. You might as well use Firefox's mobile browser instead.

I was Conned by all the FAKE Reviews

Looking at the reviews one might think this browser was safe and effective but like most shiny things nowadays Brave has a very DARK side. I went to a lot of trouble reading all the glowing reviews of this not realizing that they were mostly full of lies and here is why. Brave installer both supposed offline installer and online one won't actually install a browser before first installing a number of background applications that constantly try to go online and exchange data in the background. Supposedly this is to update the program they have not even installed. That's suspicious on its own. If you download the latest version of an offline installer it should just install the program as advertised not spy on your computer. The installer also fills your registry with seemingly hundreds of entry's designed to at will exchange data in the background.
I have just spent a valuable hour of my time cleaning up the mess of seemingly spyware that the so called brave offline installed spewed all over my computer.
Best advice I can offer to any other possible victims of BRAVE is to take all the positive reviews out there as having a big MINUS Sign in front of the Star Rating.

Early days yet but I like Brave

Early days yet, just started using Brave instead of Google. It seemed that the number of ads are becoming more intrusive from Google so decided to try an ad free alternative. Last few days have been wonderfully irritation free of ads. Still use Google for some searches where the answer format is one I prefer to the way Brave displays it. But I like Brave so far and it is just as quick as Google search. Brave shows it blocked over a 1200 ads in the few days I have been with them and I wish I had tried an ad free browser earlier. In my opinion Google should perhaps limit the number of ads per day to users. Can't put a number on it but if I knew I would only be subjected to 100 ads a day or other number and then be ad free for the rest of the day I would be much more amenable to using Google. Otherwise more, like me will explore elsewhere.

Mediocre app and pc browser1

The app and pc browser are mediocre at this point in time. I have used Brave for around 5 years and now I am looking to switch.

The app has a bug where it doesn't let me search in the browser or cancel a tab without restarting the app. Plus, password saving hasn't been saving/updating everything well lately.

I use chrome for work and brave is blocking websites out so I have to use regular chrome for now. Now the brave browser on my old pc is chugging and unwilling to work fast as it once did.

I don't support their crypto ads nor do I trust their vpn. I will probably move on to Firefox for now as a main browser.

Very disappointing and not recommended.

Very disappointing and not recommended. Very unprofessional company. I purchased VPN and it does not pair with the account. Only after extreme urging and long time the support answered and then again constantly for days not. The problem is still not solved and there is not even compensation, coupon for the time or something. Although the time was paid, it does not work and the advertised service is not there either. Better to go back to Firefox then. Brave does not deserve it then! Addendum. Brave has now contacted me and told me by email that it is not their problem and that I will not get the multiple payment back. So Brave continues to scam users, and privacy does not count for this company. The character of Brandon Eich permeates through Brave!

installs bloatware services in the background

I decided to try out brave after hearing so many people talk positively about it.
That was the absolute worst decision I could've made, specifically after having just finished installing and setting up a fresh Windows 11 install...

The first thing that annoyed me about it is when you open the Settings for the first time you are greeted with crypto wallets and stuff that really shouldn't be part of a browser...

When I first installed brave there was no WireGuard VPN service bundled with it, that service was silently installed later by the browser's background update service. I was shocked to see a random icon popping up in my system tray after a reboot, and it was called "Brave VPN". There was now a new entry in the Startup Apps inside the Task Manager called "Brave_vpn_wireguard_service", and there are also 2 new entries in the Windows Services.

If you go to brave_browser's github page and check issue #33726, they are blaming the users for having granted admin rights to the installer when prompted by UAC which I never got the prompt in the first place because I have UAC disabled, they are also blaming the users for having enabled the VPN service and claiming that the service would not be running on startup if it wasn't enabled by the user which I didn't because it wasn't there in the first placed when I installed the browser...

And when I uninstalled the browser it still left behind all the bloatware that it silently installed on my system, the entry in the Startup Apps in the Task Manager is still there, the "Brave Vpn Wireguard Service" is still there in the Windows Services, it left behind an ungodly amount of registry entries and folders.

DO NOT TRY THIS BROWSER BECAUSE OF THE HYPE.

If you are concerned about privacy, do yourself a favor and please do not use this browser
Try Mozilla Firefox instead.

Great Browser!

Brave is one of my go to browsers. I think they're doing a great job given the size of their organization. I am security and privacy minded, as well as consider myself a power user, and I think brave is a great alternative especially to Edge.

I have been using Brave Browser for a…

I have been using Brave Browser for a long time, but now I'm kicking it. They have no respect for the resource use on the computer. I quickly installed Brave browser in a VM and uninstalled it, that left half a gigabytes of files somewhere, isn't the uninstall supposed to clean up the installation?

Also, the fresh installation was consuming 1GB, why? It's just a browser!

So, now I'm switching to Min Browser.

refund-request-handling: very bad

bought the brave vpn.
pro: the vpn itself worked as expected
con: login was only possible with email-login, instead email and password. would be good to have a choice here

biggest problem i had: to get a refund within the promised money back guarantee, was very difficult it took me countless messages over multiple weeks to get my refund.

Time to kick Brave browser to the curb

I think it’s time to kick Brave browser to the curb. Brave has gotten worse and worse over the last few years to the point where I find myself wasting far too much time attempting to debug Brave’s issues. All browsers have their issues and design quirks, but at some point you have cut your losses and settle for the one you have the least problems with and for me it’s Firefox.

Here is a short list of some of the issues (the ones I can remember) that I’ve run into with the Brave browser over the years.
1. Some website’s downloads end up in la-la land (i.e., I have no idea where Brave put the download, but it acts like the download was successful) so for those websites I have to switch browsers to get the documents downloaded to where I tell them to download.
2. Some websites won’t come up at all (or take a very long time to come up). I just get a blank page.
3. Some URLs get redirected to an alternative webpage for no apparent reason (Walmart, Spotify, others) and clearing caches, cookies, history, etc. often doesn’t fix the issue, but does cause me to have to reenter login data for dozens of websites I use regularly.
4. No way (that I’m aware of) to keep bookmarks in sync with Brave browsers on my various PCs so I have to resort to saving bookmarks on one PC and merging them with bookmarks on another PC and Brave’s bookmark merge capability leaves a lot to be desired.
5. Too many updates with no explanation as to what the updates fix, if anything, or why I should perform an update.

Clearly these issues, and more, are Brave issues because I don’t have these issues when using Firefox, Chrome, or Safari on my MacBook, but I do have them with Brave on all my PCs.

False promises

They promise rewarding you for seeing their ads but without no warning or even a reason they say your account was flagged as per:
"Irregular activity is activity that would be considered unusual compared to an ordinary person using Brave Ads as part of their overall, everyday browsing experience."
Doesn't it sound quite dictatorial? Yes, sounded exactly the same to me.
Or maybe they can not fulfil the promises made to their users or the "Irregular activity" alleged was NOT PROVIDING THEM MY CREDIT CARD INFO for the fr4ud I have read on other reviews here at Trustpilot.

It Was A Brave Effort But Didn't Last

We switched to Brave from Chrome about a year ago because it was just as fast and had extra privacy protections but since then it has steadily deteriorated, much much slower, sometimes freezes and has to be re-booted. What a shame. So we are now spending more time on the Edge browser and will probably gradually switch to Edge. What a shame!
