What a wonderful online service for bridge playing. I was so lucky to have discovered them years ago, when I was moving between time zones, and 24x7 helped me relax. Really helped me get through Cov... See more

Very bad customer support
Very bad customer support. I caught one of their robots (that you can use as partner (a fee applies)), in total error! I reported this to their communication channel. No answer. Wrote them again, to simply be told they reported my incident to some sort of technical team. No explanations, no information whatsoever. Afterward, I received a form to evaluate the service I got. I gave them 1 star and explained my deception. Never heard from them! I will continue to use them as I am part of a group, but frankly, their customer support leaves a lot to be desired.

When I lead a suit twice high/low and my partner takes the second trick rule of sum likely means I’m void of that suit. However my partner never returns the lead even tho they have one not allowing me to trump in

If you can help me with this I would appreciate it

I used to love bridge base but now with the the all day games it is very hard to get any points. I now play the free game and one 79 cent game. I play with robots and most of the time that don't bid properly or over bid. I am a Bronze life master and now play very little on line.
BBO used to be very good
BBO used to be very good. Now it is ruined by irritating adverts that are impossible to get rid of.

The bots are set up to play as morons no logic at all, total waist of time.
Great for meet-up games!
My family has met on this platform every other week since the pandemic. We don't use the chat feature; we use a separate video chat program. We use the Relaxed version and set it so that bots don't bother us. I had no expectations that it would be easier, so it's great, IMO. We did try another program for a little while and it wasn't any better.
Hands are set up to fail
Hands are set up to fail. Crazy distribution, as though no normal dealing rules apply. 8 and 9 card suits every time. Numerous 23-25 HCP hands. Rarely seen in real world. As far as defense against the robots, I can’t tell you how many times my 8 is taken by LHO’s 9. They have long side suits. They have massive fits. It becomes oh so boring.
Robots do not follow normal defensive actions. Sometimes I feel as though I have three opponents.
I can’t find the section where I can program my robot partner to follow defensive signals. Any defensive signals.
Robot will bid grand slam missing an ace
Robot will bid small slam with three HCP.
I accept the robot is limited by the programmer, and his knowledge of the game, but upper level bidding and defensive play needs to be reviewed.
BEWARE - trying to hack computers
BEWARE - trying to hack computers. Every time I try to play - a dangerous website tries to take over my computer. Of course I stop this from happening but it is very annoying and I'm sure some vulnerable people do get hacked. (Tried to show one of the dangerous sites to avoid buy Trustpilot doesn't allow. So just be careful.)
I have been enjoying Bridge Base for…Game Freeze
I have been enjoying Bridge Base for quite awhile now. I primarily use the Solitaire platform where I can play without any pressure and learn some things . Lately, for about the past 2-3 weeks I have had the game just "freeze " without warning. It's very frustrating and I have no way to fix it except for shutting down my tablet and trying to let it sort out. Sometimes I get lucky and it works. Usually doesn't last long though. What is going on? Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Can it be fixed?
They will steal your dollar
BBO can be fun, but they will steal your money. They offer a tournament format where you pay a dollar, and if you score a 55%, you get $1.50 back. 12 boards. sometimes up to maybe 9 tables - and sometimes you're heads up.
Well, I recently played a heads up match - but the other player defaulted. Just didn't show up. So I paid a dollar, played 12 boards.. but got zero scoring feedback and no $1.50 rebate (the whole premise of the game).
I asked for a refund - and this company - to whom I've paid hundreds and maybe thousands of dollars.... was willing to sell our their integrity and send a long time well spending customer walking away... for a dollar.
It's a garbage organization lacking ethics entirely. I was shocked, but if they will steal a dollar - they will do worse.
Can't be trusted with your money or data - a complete disgrace of a company.
Not a pleasant place for beginners
As a fairly new player I joined this app for practice and played some good games but had a few people rude when they didn’t like my play, one calling me an idiot and telling me to leave the table. I wouldn’t recommend it for newer players, quite hostile.
Antique technology that gouges members for money
Awful ancient software with navigation that is from the 90's...and it literally is. This site has the license from ACBL till 2025 to charge players what they want. It is run by a venture captialist. The only way to get out of having BBO gouge the players for money and give little value is to let ACBL know that BBO needs to be replaced. I hate the ads we have to contend to and the horribly backward technology that they have not updated for decades (and I presume have no plans to update since they know their days are numbered in gouging members for master points and tables). Write to the president of ACBL. She was very responsive and knows the whole story. She just needs to know from more members how we will not tolerate this.
Poor software
Poor software, irrational bids, almost designed to make you hate this game.
Sort of cage fighting for card sharks & cheats
This used to be a regulated site but some years ago the owners allowed a free-for-all in order to attract the max number of players and advertising. Now the open bridge room is dominated by cheats and gamblers. If a player stays 2 full games it’s the exception and most leave as soon as they’re losing. Frequently players abuse and threaten each other and admin allo (?encourage) it. Don’t bother.
Great site for online bridge
Great site for online bridge! You can practice play by yourself (against 'robots' that are pretty good) at any time. There are great learning resources (like BridgeMaster) and many options for more competitive play. The only negative would be that the online environment is open to cheating. But if you're that worried about the 'BBO online points' then your priorities may be a bit off, and they are doing a lot of automated work to catch this.
In short, a great resource and adjunct to playing in person.
I love bridge
I love bridge, I attend our local club and play several times a week. I decided to join BBO to gain more practice, however, the CASUAL play has left me feeling demoralised. Opponents are rude, allow no more than a second or two to make judgements and eject you from play on the slightest whim! Many treat you like you are a novice (polite term), however they are clearly the ones uneducated in bridge and bridge etiquette.
Beware player abuse is widespread and…
Beware player abuse is widespread and bbo brushes off infractions. Offers of screen prints and videos are ignored by bbo staff. I suggest you create your own table so that you can boot anyone who violates zero tollerance behaviour. If you join someone else's table you are subject to removal without cause or chat abuse. BBO seems more concerned about generated revenue than enforcing zero tolerance.
Tournaments already full when they appear.
I guess it's fine if you have a partner or if you want to pay to play with bots, or you're happy to play with randoms.
But they have a "Free robot duplicate" every half an hour. The problem is they are limited to 40 players and at some times of day, they are full the second they appear. So either they have a bunch of bots that are pre-registered or there are members who have such bots that register within a second of it appearing.
Why 40 should be a limit in any case is inexplicable.
Not to mention that when I did play in the "daylong", my bot partner decided to double their 4 spade contract with KJxxxx in clubs and nothing else (doubleton spade). It was cold, but for whatever reason it was 3% - biased bot? Why didn't all the other bots double?
So after not being able to get in I got as a "sub". After waiting forever I get asked to come into a tournament as sub in the middle of a hand as declarer with no idea what cards have been played, and am expected to just play. Then in another one I come in with no partner available and when someone I didn't choose to play with is landed on me and totally misplays a simple contract I am not able to leave without logging out. Yeah, if I pick someone I want to play with and we have a bad hand it's tough, but you can't force me to play with an idiot for several rounds.
