I've been filing my expat taxes with Bright! Tax since 2016, always with great results. The entire team is willing and helpful, and turnaround time for responses is almost immediate. Their Secure Server is intuitive and easy to use for uploading documents. Extremely professional, prompt and efficient. We live in Germany and were looking for a new service this year to prepare our personal US returns. Professional cross border tax accounts who are punctual and care.

Helpful, professional, always reply promptly to emailed questions. I've been working with Bright Tax for a couple of years and I'm glad I found them as I no longer need to worry about anything tax related.

This was my first year filing taxes with BrightTax and I had to pay penalty for late filing/payment for the year.

I was promised a turnaround time of 6-8 weeks in a (paid) call with CPA where I explained my sources of income. I uploaded all documents 8 weeks before the deadline. However, a week before the deadline when I asked about the status, I was told that forms will not be ready by the deadline, but I do not have to worry as I do not owe taxes as per "initial assessment". After the deadline, it turned out I do owe taxes and interest and late payment penalty.

To be fair, I was offered a discount for next year filing, if I chose to use BrightTax again, but the discount barely covers the extra interest and penalty which I had to pay for 2023 tax return.

FWIW, accountants seem professional. However, in my experience, communication from BrightTax leaves a lot to be desired.

Update (Jul 18): BrightTax offered to pay the interest and late payment penalty incurred because of late filing along with refunding 50% of the this year's fees. Based on this, I am raising rating of this review.

I live overseas and my taxes can be a bit complicated. In years past I have had people help with my taxes who never seem to "quite" understand what all is needed. This is my first year working with Bright!Tax and they have done an amazing job and seemed super knowledgable from the get-go about expat taxes. I HIGHLY recommend them!

This was my first time having someone prepare my taxes and, in spite of the complexity, the team was extremely helpful, patient, and very professional. I am already planning for them to handle my taxes next year.
