RIPOFF BROOKLANDS—Bought my daughter and her family a one…
Bought my daughter and her family a one night stay just over a week ago- they took the money for her room when she signed in - ok but when she checked out took the money again. Saying it will be returned in one day- it took 8! Days to return the money to her bank - if there doing that to every one who stays there I think it’s out of order - they pay it back by that time they’ve done it they’ve done it again - just a scam to make money- everyone double money in week out . Very expensive bar as well -3 burgers and chips and 3 drinks -£138 with service charge no wonder it was empty!
Night's stay
From the moment we got to the hotel the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived early to find our room ready so we checked in our room was lovely and spacious and comfortable. We had an afternoon tea which was delicious and again staff were friendly and helpful. In the evening we dined in the restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed we would like to say a big thank you to Agniszka and Jonalyn who looked after us very well and nothing was to much for them they are a credit to your hotel.
Wolf in sheeps clothing
I have been here many times in previous years so the expectation is not high but was pleasant enough, but this final time I have to say it was a bigger let down.
Since the spa refurb you have to pay to just step in there and have use of the small area of saunas, forget the germ infested jacuzzi as who wants to share, essentially a bath with strangers! The sun room was more like party central with the music blasting and generally the entire place was far too busy to be any bit relaxing. The meditation room was an additional £35 per person per half hour.
As for the hotel itself, well it's a wolf in sheeps clothing. Even if you are staying on a special offer 'discount' there are many extras that you must pay for and it all adds up. For example; at check in (where you have to queue for ages) you are handed a little bag with two robes and slippers nothing more explained (if visiting the spa these are provided free). At checkout this little inconspicuous bag is charged at a whopping £70 ....! You are asked to return to reception, however, it is not made clear that if for some reason you forget to hand them back you will be charged.
As for parking they only credit 24hours from point of check in so
3pm So if you arrive early for a visit to the spa, you will be charged.
The service in the restaurant for dinner was irritating being asked several times by different servers 'if everything was ok' I mean just let us enjoy our meal in peace being asked once is sufficient. The inclusive meals in a special offer stay are at best fast food ie burgers, fish & chips, not great for a hotel who apparently prides itself, on.......?!
The rooms are tired and in need of some serious updating and the cleaning of rooms needs to be deep cleaned, stained furniture and carpets and the musky smells are a problem. I can't say I would go back to Brooklands in its current state and would certainlv not believe any ‘special offer’
Misleading and disappointing
We arrived at the hotel to be informed that car parking was £14, because we booked through a third party, with other guests receiving it complimentary. The spa was priced at £35 each person for 3 hours, which was overpriced and not impressive upon looking at it, with people waiting. The website shows popular amenities, with photos of the jacuzzi, but doesn't state that you pay extra, giving the viewer a false impression of what is included, as we fancied a jacuzzi. Having paid a lot just for the room, I was unimpressed, which promised a lot more than it delivered. This is the first hotel I have stayed at that doesn't include amenities, literally being room only.
The spa experience was not what we…
The spa experience was not what we expected- there is no swimming pool and the drinks etc are very expensive
Booked the Brooklands Hotel as we were visiting Mercedes Benz World
Booked the Brooklands Hotel as we were visiting the Mercedes Benz World. This Hotel could not be located in a better place. The hotel its self was very clean, the room was a good size, and the bed was very comortable. The track view was an added bonus. All the staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The food in the in 1907 Restuarant was amazing. Breakfast was very good too. We are looking to go back with grand kids and would certainly book this hotel again.
As much as it is a lovely hotel it’s so…
As much as it is a lovely hotel it’s so overpriced for what it is. As my boyfriend treated me to a birthday surprise getaway. However he paid enough money for it which I appreciate it, but having to find out you have to pay for parking each night as well as having to pay to use the spa and book in to use facilities when it states it’s a spa hotel. As well as paying for a package deal, which finding out you have to pay extra for tea and coffee in breakfast as well. Then everything in our package deal for dinner each night, we had our included food, then to find out £8 charge for service charge. It’s a shame as the museums by the hotel are really good and we had a nice time, but it’s just a shame about everything else. It was also stated we get a free glass of Prosecco each at dinner each night which we never received however other tables did. It’s very expensive, I’m not really sure what my boyfriend paid for considering everything else we had to pay for…… wouldn’t rush to this hotel. We was offered a room upgrade on arrival which then you had to pay for each night as well considering it was stated that we was away for a special occasion. It is also £16.50 for ONE cocktail in the bar. Would not rush here at all, wasn’t very happy at all, which is a shame.
Hotel staff was very friendly and…
Hotel staff was very friendly and accompanying expecially Emma Aspden Ninos and Keira.
And the restaurant staff
Basement rooms
Basement rooms. Full of mould on the wall and dump. Dusty and dirty
The toilet was dirty…
The toilet was dirty…. Poo in the toilet. When I told the reception about it she said am I sure my 4 year old daughter did not do it 🙄apparently the perfect room manager had inspected it so I must be lying……
To make matters worse when I tried to report her attitude to her boss he said I can leave the hotel if I like….. he cannot stand to listen to me for 2 more days!!!
Wow customer service at its height!

Avoid this at all cost I paid £158 for me and my partner for a 3 hour use of faculties plus 25 min treatments arrived at 9am by 1030 we was very bored no pool was starving by 11 am and told we had to wait untill 1230 for lunch most of the staff was polite sauna and steam room is terrible the treatment was ok avoid at all cost rip off
Nice hotel that charges for little things that should be included
I didn't appreciate that we were told that we had to pay a deposit of £200 on arrival for the 2 rooms. We had paid in advance for 2 rooms for 2 nights and at a pre-paid cost of over £700, to be told that we needed to pay an additional £200 deposit, even if fully refundable, is not what I would call acceptable behaviour from a hotel of this quality. The breakfast items on Sunday morning were not replenished quickly enough so people were waiting around for basic items like eggs. That should be replenished much more quickly. Also, for the price we paid for the rooms and an extensive car park which is out of the way and therefore not prone to be used by non-guests, to add a charge for parking on top of everything else, is also not acceptable practice. The location is remote enough from the mainstream traffic that parking should be included as it is a must to drive there for most people. Finally, the showers were leaking water into the bathroom floor and the staff did state that this was a problem they were seeing in other rooms, so the hotel should keep up with the schedule to get these fixed rather than expecting guests to put up with it - especially if its a known issue. Overall, this is a nice hotel and we have stayed there before, but it just feels like the hotel is cutting corners to either save money or make additional money on top of the room charge and that will only deter people to come again - we will certainly be thinking of looking elsewhere for comparison when we come that way again
scrutinise the bill from the restaurant as there is a pattern of overcharging
ok first of all they decided to take money out of my account before i had even visited the hotel, then apologies for the mistake, the overcharged us for dining, they added to the £7.70 for a Caesar salad stating that we had chicken when my partner is a vegetarian, i challenged the receptionist but they were not interested in what i had to say, i am partly to blame as i did not check the bill, i just presumed that a 4 star hotel of this quality would not be trying to rob or penny pinch its patrons, please do not make the same mistake as me scrutinise your bill as it seems like there is a on going pattern
Wonderful experience
Everything about the experience was brilliant. Booking at the Brooklands Hotel through Secret Escapes was very easy. The room was perfect, bed very comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and attentive to our needs and when the restaurant staff found out it was my 60th birthday they brought out a special dessert just for me. The hotel is ideally situated for Mercedes World Museum and Brooklands Museum. I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone
Would recommend; despite previous negative reviews, it really seems to have improved
Really clean, fantastic food; despite allergies (gluten and dairy); the staff-especially at breakfast, went above and beyond to accomodate us and prepare delicious dishes we could eat. The room was spacious and the spa was extremely clean; wonderful body brushing and massage by Bart the massage therapist! I would recommend highly!!
Disappointing
Expensive, quite a trek from anywhere. I was attending a function at the museum. Rang for room service at just after midnight- they lied about 24 hour room service! Told to contact deliveroo- could find nothing online! So had hot chocolate and ONE shortbread piece- cannot classify it as a cookie/biscuit. Looking forward to checkout ASAP so I can get back to civilisation! When an establishment has a captive audience- they need to deliver advertised services!!!!
RIP off charging for car park
RIP off charging for car park! Met friends for a meal who were staying there.
This is not a cheap hotel, neither is the Bar & Grill and yet they have the nerve to charge for parking! So if you have a wedding there or any occasion, you have to get all your guests to pay to park their cars to get there!! Going for the spa is not cheap yet they charge you to park. What an insult. I read a bad review here that mentioned 3 hour complimentary parking. Nowhere did it tell you that, neither did the waiters! An occasion like a wedding would be longer than that. RIP Off
The Ultimate Experience
Before I begin I was offered compensation from the Hotel, but declined. The offer was £40 discount, from the balance payable. Put into context the 2 night Experience cost £599 + £160 in hotel restaurant bills plus £155 fuel costs total £814 for the 2 night stay. I declined as complaint isn’t about compensation it’s a complaint about the hotel and its policies
On arrival, checked in without any concern and departed to room. However my wife pointed out the Ultimate Experience included a deluxe track facing room. Once we pointed this out and apology and an new room was swiftly provided.
I asked where to go to check in for the Mercedes experience and was told go stand near the track and they will find you!! Fortunately common sense prevailed and we went exploring and found the correct location within Mercedes World.
Drinks in bar during afternoon, there was no one in the bar part from ourselves and a barmaid. Took our order for 2 orange juices and we sat down an waited patiently. Some time later 10-15 min, another staff member asked if would like a drink. We explained we were still waiting for our original order. The original bottles of orange were found abandoned having been removed from fridge waiting to be poured and delivered.
Diner first evening, the experience included 1 evening meal for 2, which we opted for the second night. I ordered a Ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce cost from memory was approx £30. The steak was cooked ok, but was a poor cut of meat with gristle (not normal with Ribeye) also the peppercorn sauce wasn’t peppercorn at all, it was some other. Whilst taking the order that asked if we’d like water, we accepted. When the water arrived the waiter explained not to worry they only had small bottles rather than large. However they’d only charge for a large bottle. Didn’t complain
Day two, approx 4pm returned to room to find the room hadn’t been made up, ie bed made, basic clean, tea and coffee replenished. I complained at reception and was told it would be dealt with. Returned to room 1.5 hours later, still no change. Rang reception and was told not to worry, they’d make the room up tomorrow (was leaving tomorrow). Asked to speak to a manager, she explained it is the hotels policy to only make up rooms every 3 days. Now, in the room when we arrived was 2 coffee sachets (with caffeine) and 2 teabags (English breakfast), 4 milk and 2 small bottles of water. Oh and the complimentary biscuit, yes singular only 1, was the size of a 2 pence coin.
All this for a two night stay, how generous.
Something else not in room was shampoo, but not to worry there was conditioner
The Spa experience, we were asked to arrive approx 10 min before the booked time, which we did, arrived 3:50pm. At 4:10pm my wife reminded the staff we were still waiting. Nothing happened, 4:20pm, 30 minutes after arrival I complained and we were then shown to the changing rooms. You may think they spa was busy, nope very few customers
Now the bill, on the menu in a print font far smaller that the rest of the menu it states All charges would have a 10% service charge. So not only do you pay the prices the hotel requests you actually make an addition contribution to the employee wages. I don’t actually have an issue with tipping for good service, but only when the service warrants it.
Yes the staff were always polite and helpful within their boundaries but didn’t deliver.
So why would I tip
Generally the hotel is all clean but tatty in areas. It is showing signs of age.
BEWARE THE THREE HOUR COMPLIMENTARY PARKING AND £100 FINE IF YOU TRANSGRESS !!
Eight of us went to this Hotel to celebrate a significant birthday. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was busy. The food was worth waiting for as it was very good. the staff were quite attentive..... BUT BEWARE!!!
We arrived early and was asked to register our car at the bar. We were also advised to re register the car before the three hours were up. After 2 hours 50 minutes i asked for the car to be re registered and was advised that there was a complimentary stay of THREE HOURS ONLY! ANY ADDITIONAL TIME OVER THREE HOURS WAS PAYABLE (even if you were eating!) At the end of the meal (which too 3.5 hours - remember, service was slow due to number in party and the restaurant being busy) we approached Reception and asked for the manager who offered us a complimentary extension so we would not have to pay extra. This review advises that our car LR12YVN was given a complimentary parking extension and we do not expect a parking fine (Timed at 2225 on the 29th July 2022.
Our other two guests were not aware of the three hour complimentary limit and would have left unaware of the consequences of this action. the consequences? ONE HUNDRED POUNDS PER CAR FINED BY THE PARKING COMPANY! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Below average
We stayed with a track view which was probably the only good thing about this hotel.
We are frequent travellers, experienced with hotels and we found Brooklands to be way beyond average.
Dusty , worn carpets , feeling in need of a deep clean everywhere, certainly not worth £160 per night.
Breakfast was dull, tasteless products with over cooked eggs sitting around all the time we was seated.
The hot water for shower was warm at best and the water pressure was pathetic,
We did speak to reception but nothing was resolved.
Would not stay here again, sorry very unimpressed
