We stayed with a track view which was probably the only good thing about this hotel. We are frequent travellers, experienced with hotels and we found Brooklands to be way beyond average. Dusty ,... See more

Rude staff, hassle parking

We’d booked for 3 hour spa experience. When we arrived we struggled with the parking fees. The hotel reception staff couldn’t have cared less. The spa was pleasant but no swimming pool. The restaurant staff were rude- we were asked to sit down, then asked not to sit down until a surly waitress found us a seat in an empty restaurant. There are better places to relax! We won’t be going back.

Disappointing

My partner booked this hotel for me on line and said he had arranged strawberries for the room and that it was paid for. On arrival the staff informed me it wasn’t paid for and took a guarantee from my card. Didn’t ever get my strawberries. I was disappointed to return to my room on the first day and it hadn’t been serviced with the excuse that because of COVID they only do it every 4 days! I’m paying top rates for this hotel and I expect my room to be cleaned every day. The room itself is ok but it wasn’t spotlessly clean on arrival, splashes up the tiles in the bathroom, dirty door handles and a layer of fine dust on the surfaces and mirrors. The food in the restaurant was average and not cheap. The only exceptional service was from the gentleman behind the bar making cocktails. Other staff are ok but a bit aloof and stiff. This hotel has the potential to be excellent but falls short in my opinion and doesn’t offer anything that you wouldn’t get in a premier inn. I haven’t used the spa so can’t make any comment in that area. Disappointing and overpriced

Amazing staff awful food!

The hotel is in a nice setting and not in bad condition but could do with some money spent on it to update a bit as it’s a little tired looking, however, it’s been a tough 18 months for everyone so we were fine with that. Rooms are clean but the spa changing rooms were grubby and not cleaned properly. All the treatments we had in the spa were lovely, I was a little disappointed as tried to book our treatments a week earlier and no one got back to me as they promised on several occasions which meant by the time I finally spoke to them there were no other available treatments that we were able to book. However the couple of treatments we did have were fantastic and the girls are clearly highly trained (I am a beauty trainer myself so was very happy with this) the girls who did the treatments were lovely and excellent at their jobs. All the staff throughout the whole hotel, from cleaners to restaurant staff to Spa staff were absolutely fantastic, very professional, helpful and happy which actually made all the bad points not so bad. The main bad point was the food! It was awful, the menu was not cast but ok, we ordered the “Ox cheek burger” it was just a plain normal burger with chips that was all frozen and just cooked and served up, in fact I don’t think any of the food was freshly made, it was all cooked from frozen and out of a bag so extremely disappointed with this. The breakfast took ages to come and was cold when it arrived, we both suffered very bad stomachs after the food. The food really lets this place down unfortunately as everything else was really very nice. Also spa staff should call you back to book when they promise, not a week later

Brooklands not at its best

Brooklands looks like it should offer an exquisite experience, but it fails on a number of levels. When l stayed on a personal visit, l found that there was no security on the guest WiFi, rooms were not made up on the excuse of COVID and staff on reception were just indifferent to customers.
Internet security should be at the top of the list for hotels, to ensure guests can connect securely and know their data is safe, but there was none here. I checked and all of the hotel system were protected, so why not guests?
If my room is not going to be refreshed and replenished in Days 2 and 3, why should l pay the same as l did on Day 1? In my travels, over the last fortnight, l stayed at 3 hotels. Brooklands was the only one who gave this excuse.
Finally, ‘posh’ hotel should not be equated with haughty staff. Friendly customer service is vital in the success of all hotels. I am not sure if language barriers got in the way, but a friendly smile will alway change the tone

Disappointed

Booked a spa day for my Mums birthday
Arrived on time but took time to book in
Missed 10 mins of first session
Rushed through with a new thing to do every 20-30 minutes, no time to relax
In the last treatment room, I entered the room to find the room full. I had to report to reception who had to ask someone to leave as they had decided to stay put & again waste my session time!
The only good thing was the afternoon tea was pleasant
The next day I had call from the hotel requesting £65 as a voucher for 1 had been purchased rather than 2. They hounded me for money daily until Red letter Day came to my rescue & resolved the situation for me

Very nice hotel but not great

Stayed 1 night as a special treat before going to Mercedes Benz world.

Huge modern room with floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows. Huge bed, huge TV, very nice bathroom with separate bath and rain shower. tea making facilities in the room which is great, as lots of big hotels think they are too posh for this!

Had a drink in the bar, good service, and nice tapas. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast. The restaurant is fine, and the staff were good, but the buffett, although I had a lot of choice, the quality just wasn't what you would expect. from a hotel like this. The fried eggs were like bits of plastic, sausages tough, bacon had been standing for too long. Also my pet hate which is a big communal jar of jam that you have to spoon out. Why not have the small individual jars so we know its fresh when we open them? It shouldn't be a cost issue given the price of the rooms. Lastly, breakfast was an extra. Again a bit penny pinching given the cost of the room.

That aside, this is really nice hotel, and probably one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in.
