Brother corporation that sells printers takes advantage of their customers
I purchased the Brother MFC-L3720CDW based on strong online recommendations as the best color laser printer for home use. My experience with both the product and Brother’s customer support has been deeply disappointing.
From the start, I was never able to connect the printer wirelessly to either my iPhone or my Mac Mini despite following all recommended troubleshooting steps including setting a static IP address and multiple router resets. The printer simply would not maintain a stable wireless connection.
When I contacted Brother for support, rather than helping me directly, they referred me to a third-party vendor for assistance — which I had to pay for out of my own pocket. That paid assistance did not resolve the problem either.
When I requested a refund, Brother refused unless I could prove the printer was defective out of the box — an unreasonable standard given that their own support team could not fix the problem. When I tried to continue the discussion through their website, I was repeatedly directed to pages with no interface to actually submit questions or get help.
I ended up having to purchase a replacement printer from another manufacturer at additional expense. Brother made no effort to make this right.
I would not recommend Brother printers to anyone. Their product failed to perform basic wireless functions, and their customer service was evasive, unhelpful, and ultimately left me with a $460 printer I cannot use.
