Very fast response and resolution
False advertising
False advertising. They DO NOT sell courses, but from their website you'd think they do. You need another external plugin/platform for that. They're nothing but an expensive version of the free buddypress, and I puchased the pro version solely because I though courses would be included.
Disappointing partnership program
BuddyBoss is a robust, well-built platform on WordPress, suitable for developing communities, courses, and memberships on a professional scale. However, my experience with BuddyBoss's affiliate program was completely disappointing. Commissions were overdue for a long time without being paid, and contacting support was opaque and lacked clear responses, leaving me feeling cheated. As a serious publisher, I cannot recommend the community to join or introduce BuddyBoss affiliates, even though the product itself is of good quality. A reputable platform should have a transparent partner policy and respect for financial commitments.
Great experience
The support staff was especially helpful. Sajib - WordPress Support Engineer, understood my issue thoroughly and gave me a solution that worked.
The only issue is that I had to create 2-3 tickets before my issue was redirected to Sajib who resolved it. Before him the tickets did not get any response.
Charged $2,100 After Canceling — Dark-Pattern Billing and Unethical Support
I’ve never written a negative review in my life, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others.
I run a marketing agency and operate SaaS products myself, so I understand subscriptions and renewals. What happened here is not normal.
Before renewal, I:
• Removed all payment methods in the platform
• Unchecked auto-renew
• Emailed support clearly stating I wanted everything canceled and no rebilling
Despite this, I was still charged $2,100.
When I contacted support and showed them:
• My email asking to cancel everything
• Their reply acknowledging the cancellation
They told me I had replied to the wrong transactional email thread.
Apparently, each component of their package has its own auto-generated email, and unless you reply to the exact one tied to that component, it keeps renewing — even if:
• You say “cancel everything”
• Auto-renew is off
• Payment methods are removed
They even sent me a screenshot from their CRM showing I had opened a different system email as justification for keeping the charge.
Instead of fixing the mistake, they pointed me to their refund policy and tried to “negotiate” a 50% refund, effectively asking me to accept losing over $1,000 on a charge I clearly tried to prevent.
This feels like intentional dark-pattern billing designed to trap customers.
On top of that, the software itself is:
• Bloated and slow with real traffic
• Constantly broken by updates
• Full of hidden extra costs (MemberPress, LearnDash, etc.)
• Native app publishing didn’t even work for us
• Support is largely useless when you need real help
I’ve now opened a dispute with AMEX, who are investigating how my card details were retained after removal. After researching, I also found multiple Reddit threads describing the same tactics.
If you value transparent billing and ethical business practices, I strongly recommend avoiding this platform.
This was a huge waste of time, money, and trust.

Prabs at BuddyBoss was awesome. I reached out to support because I was struggling to get the app published on Google Play. I knew I had 2 problems, but to my surprise, many more issues could've caused a much longer delay, which Prabs helped me resolve. This is top-tier technical service and has been an experience I'd recommend.
