Sold product I did not receive.
On September 2nd I entered into an agreement with Mari O'Connor, sales representative for Sue and Trevor Pinto of Budget Blinds of Mid-Lower Manhattan, to have smart motorized shades installed in our apartment. During the sales process Mari stated Budget Blinds affiliate brand Inspired Shades would function exactly like the more expensive non-affiliated Lutron brand. Specifically, Mari had inspected our current Lutron set-up with a single hub hidden from sight and told me Inspired Shades would work exactly as the Lutron accessories in our apartment do. Based on this information I paid $2500 for the Inspired Shades.
At time of installation on September 28th the blinds did not work through a remote or app. The professional installers informed me they typically have issues with Inspired Shades and we should have purchased Lutron. The installers left the apartment with the blinds not working through the app and instead of providing one remote as promised at time of purchase, each blind needed its own remote next to the blind to function.
The installers came a second time on September 30th and suggested we place multiple receivers in plain sight around the apartment in an effort to get the blinds to work. I specified the receivers must be hidden but were willing to try it to see if it worked. The installer still could not manage to get all the blinds to work even with receivers in plain sight.
That same day I was told I could replace the Inspired Shades with Lutron, although I would only receive a $1995 credit towards the purchase vs the $2500 I had already paid. I offered to pay the difference between the $2500 I had already paid and the cost to fabricate new Lutron blinds. Mari declined and suggested the installers come a third time.
On December 7th the installers came to the apartment a third time. At this point the apartment had been rented so the installers were disturbing our renters in the process. The installers proceeded to place a hub in plain sight on the kitchen counter and put 2 signal repeaters in outlets next to the blinds. One of the outlets was a single plug high voltage outlet designed for our air conditioning. Our apartment was recently gut renovated with many available outlets, but this outlet was closest to the bedroom blind. The installers unplugged the air conditioning and placed a signal repeater in that outlet rendering our air conditioning unit useless. The installers did not set up a multi-channel remote in the process. Mari wrote later that day and claimed the shades "are all functioning properly".
I was sold a product that would function with a single remote or through a phone app with a hub hidden in the same place we have a hubs for our other smart home appliances. What was delivered was a product that does not work as advertised. In simple terms, I paid for a product I did not receive. Our apartment is less than 700 sq ft and all 3 windows are on the same wall. The desired location for the hub is less than 15ft from any one blind motor. Mari cited electronic interference as the reason the hub would not reach the blinds, even though none of our other smart home appliances have this issue.
I have tried to solve this by offering to pay for the difference in the Inspired Shades and Lutron. I have also dedicated significant time with Budget Blinds trying to get Inspired shades to work. As a last resort I tried to involve the corporate office on 12.8 and was promptly told they could not help. Bottom line, stay far away unless you are willing to risk the same treatment.
I ordered blinds almost a year ago
I ordered blinds almost a year ago. I finally received the last 5 in July. They were all made wrong. I was told they would be remade. Fabric was on backorder but was due to ship 11/8/22. I have had no follow up what so ever and it is now 11/21/22. I would never recommend this company!
Replacment Blinds
The house I am in has Budget blinds on a Door in our Mud Room and Window. I needed to replace both and spoke to 2 people in my area for my Zip Code. Unfortunately neither went out of their way to help me. I just wanted to try and get blinds similar to what is up with the same type of brackets and neither the Monroe, CT rep or Newtown. CT rep helped me. Numerous calls to the Newton CT rep with no response.
Good quality, poor design
First, the sales person Jason was a very nice guy. I hate having to write this review but the company's product is poor. Shipping of three shutters took almost four months. Then, the "hidden bars" that close and open the shutters are on the outside, meaning you have to open the shutter to use it. I complained and Jason offered to try to put them on the inside where they should be but I gave up. He said they are supposed to be on the outside. That's crazy. The product itself is good quality and it fit the windows well. But, putting the bar on the outside means you have to open the shutter or close the slats by hand.
Mislead on what they were delivering
Mislead on what they were delivering. We're not was we had discussed and then it was a rush job if installation. Installers said the company had a new salesman and that's why I didn't get what I was supposed. Do NOT use Budget Blinds.
Terrible customer experience, Low grade products and Quality control are not met
We gave our business to Mike and Michelle Davis who is North Houston franchisee based on trust and quality of Budget Blinds. We wanted to support small business of Mike and Michelle Davis as an independent franchisee. The plantation shutter installation was delayed by several weeks because of manufacturing delay and we couldn't get a Friday installation for next two weeks. I still insisted to Michelle that the timeline of installation delay was fine as long ensure they quality shutters and the shutters should be inspected throughly for quality control so we don’t waste time on manufacturing defect issues after installation.
We are not satisfied with the Budget Blinds (North Houston) / Ameritex (Texas shutter manufacturer) customer service and quality of the plantation shutters which were installed end of May 2022. Mike and Michelle didn't show-up to inspect the issue when we called for defects support. Hence, my husband and I had taken time to inspect every shutter in all the rooms because we were concern of the quality. We could see many of the shutter louvers are not closing tight (there are big gaps in many of them), several are not closing and opening uniformly, and some louvers appear to have unusual very loose movements where they are attached to the hidden control lever. Found bubbles, dent and terrible paint work on louvers. The hidden tilt mechanism and the build of the shutters were very poor design from the day one. We do not have any faith and confidence with the Budget Blinds customer service and Ameritex shutter product quality after our bad experience. Infact, I have pointed out several defective louvers on the day of installation to Mike Davis in person. However, Mike kept on giving unacceptable excuses instead of addressing and commit to fix it.
Product Excellence and Quality Control were not met. There are so many defects identified in last
few weeks by us and we are not satisfied with the shutters. Budget Blinds corporate office "wash hands of" and not helping to resolve the customer complaint. There is lady at corporate office name Theresa (TJ) Andrezze (Customer Relations Liaison) who is a bully, and not serving to mediate resolve the issue.
I had blinds installed 5k been nothing but trouble and no help to fix them been in less than 3 year's I would look elsewhere were very rude on the phone once you pay no service after the sale

Budget blinds of Hobe Sound
Budget blinds of Hobe Sound, FL came to my home and measured my 10 windows and slider. After much discussion I priced solar roller shades with valences and motorized. The price came to 19,043 with a 5,712 discount making it 14,099. I declined and never heard back from them. Just a warning, the word budget should not be in their name. I’m getting my solar shades from Home Depot for under several thousand. It was agreed by everyone I spoke to that their price was insane.
Contract signed and they wanted more money!
I ordered 8 blinds, signed the contract, gave them a deposit for half and then they came back and wanted more money. They lost a $1,680 contract because they refused to eat $87 that they made a mistake on. The lady was also rude about sending my check back (she wanted to shred it). Overall, I didn't appreciate the experience and huge waste of time!
Beltway blinds accepts no responsibility
Ordered shades over a month ago. Sales rep said family oriented company. Order came with two right side openings. I called the company during the install and I was quoted “we do not accept responsibility from items that our manufacturers send it’s written in your contract.” So now I have to wait till they can reorder and I have to take off another day from work. But Beltway blinds doesn’t accept responsibility. I had better experience with budget blinds. DO NOT USE THEM.

I have never been more astounded than by the phone call of the owner I received tonight!! Wow!! His office personnel doesn’t respond to phone calls but justifies it by a lunch break. Ok but after the lunch break shouldn’t you then respond?? If you can’t make an appointment CALL. If your office staff is eating lunch than YOU should call!!! Your truck breaks down CALL. Don’t make a customer leave work and then not care enough to call. Runnnn from from these people. They don’t care. Now they are so busy they can’t come install until next year.

Where do I start? Fantastic service from 1st telephone conversation to fitting of blinds. Cannot fault them at all Vicky is an asset to the business what a lovely polite lady. Would definitely recommend to family and friends..keep up the fantastic work.
Sales came to my residence
Sales came to my residence. Appointment was rushed and not centered on client understanding.
There was no follow up from sales agent after appointment. Sent message to get information on another product for my windows. Another agent sent an email RE product and again never bothered to call to introduce new sales person and follow up on my questions and ideas.
This company is evidently too busy to work with new clientele and too busy for follow through. I will need to find another vendor to meet my residence needs.
I would not recommend this company simply by the fact that they do not offer personalized contact and follow through with quotes and adjustments to quotes. They rush their appts and then no contact after that.
Unable to get assistance after the install
The blinds are great and they fit perfectly
BUT one of the blinds came with the wrong size pole to open them. I have been calling the company for 4 months now and they have not sent me the correct size
Now I cant open and close the blinds!

From first consultation to installment, David Bishop did a wonderful job!! My 83 yr old mother was concerned over lighting and privacy with a window that needed treatment. David took the time, explained options, gave his professional opinion. The process was quick and easy. The treatment arrived earlier then expected and was placed in less then 10 minutes. David is an exceptional employee! Who knew that compassion was part of window treatments...David made a difference in someone’s life! Thank you and the window treatment is absolutely beautiful!! More then what we could of imagined!
I ordered blinds for my new condo but...
I ordered blinds for my new condo. Due to COVID the blinds were installed later than expected. No problem. Matt (The owner) came by and installed the blinds. He did a good job. I charged the blinds as instructed so the remote/motor would work. The blinds were also supposed to come with a router so my phone/app could control them. I paid 1/2 when ordering, and the other 1/2 when they were installed. Problem is, I never received the router. Matt the owner, said it would be another week and shipped directly to my house. A week passed and nothing arrived. Two weeks passed and I texted Matt about the router. No response. Three weeks passed and I texted him again, and I was told he would check on it. Nothing. 4 weeks passed and I texted Matt. No Response. 24 hours, texted again, no response, 48 hours texted again, and Matt says the router (I’ve already paid for, and paid for complete installation) and I am told it will be shipped “tomorrow.” I asked for the tracking number and got the response “If I can {send it}.” I am very angry that I did not receive what I paid for, and the system is still not fully installed. I paid for this system for a reason and still have not received what I paid in full.
Budget Blinds of Bucktown and Oak Park
Update: Got the router, but there should be 1 for each set of blinds. So I received 1 out of 2 I ordered and ended up shelling out $179 for the other set of blinds in my bedroom that had the price of the router included. Tired of going back and forth on this, just lazy to not give people what they pay for.

Bought blinds from the local franchise what a mess. Company doesn't make sure local franchise performs up to standard and the local franchise owner had a criminal record and was a criminal. Had to dispute the credit card payment as company never finished the job. I tell everyone to avoid this company.
