Overheard him call me gay behind my back!
Was on my way to buy bug sprays when I found Darren in his Bugs N Things van outside the shop, who happily had an in-depth conversation with me about my potential issue. Very helpful, thank you Darren!
Next day, upon the visit of someone different from the same company viewing my problem in person, in about 10-15 minutes he was certain I was wrong and nothing was there. I needed to move one small piece of furniture to properly inspect the subject area. It would’ve taken 60 seconds, I just ran out of time to do it before he arrived. He said no need, just lift it up and I’ll use my torch. Definitely nothing there. Brilliant! Even gave me £5 off for the easy callout.
When he left, I began dismantling the suspect furniture to erect a new one, just to be on the safe side. What did I find? Dead bugs surrounding clusters of eggs, right where he inspected.
I sent images and called up right away. The man thought he declined the call, but to my surprise I was listening in on him describing me to a room full of people as “about 5 foot, gay as they come, and has a girlfriend in(…), reckons he’s got (…). There was so much stuff in there I couldn’t tip the [furniture] up.”
It was just noise after that as he must’ve walked away from his phone. I was in shock.
I called back pretending it hadn’t happened, in case an emergency call-out was required and I didn’t want to be stuck. He said he saw the pictures and what I found were the most common and harmless household pest, which required simply a good vacuum of the room.
I’ve vacuumed and steamed the area and all around, I just hope he wasn’t fobbing me off.
