Applied for visa for my finance and the requirement was medical insurance so I took a policy out with bupa and this was two months before she was to come to Australia well her visa was denied so I ask for a refund only then did I get the runaround asking me to fill out forms for total refund did this and then they want the denial letter after I gave this then they said they could only give back the 100 dollars they took out of my account that was already cancelled but they took it out anyway my experience with this company says the least ill be having g with them again.

My experience with Bupa was the most…

My experience with Bupa was the most horrible encounter throughout my professional career. The company's aged care sector is in chaos, staff are unqualified from top management to bottom level. Extremely poor communication, lacks respect to others, unkind and uncompassionate. You would NOT want to bring your elderly family member to live in their ''care'' or lack of care. Bupa does not care at all to you (if you are a worker) or your family (if you have parents there). I'd say do not hesitate to report them to the aged care quality commission - no worries. You need to protect your family if ever. What they care is profit and more profit. I would not recommend buying any of their services, Bupa insurance is a farse, very expensive and useless coverage, try to compare it with other providers.

Constantly waiting forever for contact

Constantly waiting forever for contact. Can never claim things as it’s “outside of a waiting period” that I did not even know existed until that point. I paid extra for pharmacy but they would not let me claim anything that was under $32.
Requested a call back YESTERDAY at 5:45-6pm. Didn’t receive a call until 8AM THIS MORNING. I want to cancel but I have to contact them!

Very poor processes

I have had the misfortune of having to liaise with BUPA on behalf of a relatively who returned overseas and left me in charge of cancelling her policy. What a nightmare. Their processes are so slow and antiquated. Like a lot of insurance companies, they will take your money quickly but then when you try cancel it takes forever. I can now see why they have a poor rating. Not good enough.

Misleading and incapable

BUPA have to be one of the most useless companies I've ever dealt with and I don't even know where to start with my review!!

Every dealing I've had with them on the phone or chat they have made errors. EVERY TIME! And their phone wait times are unacceptable. They also say they have no manager or complaints line that you can talk to in real time - you have to do it in writing.

Misleading - they say you have unlimited preventaive and general dental but that is NOT true. Check their marketing! Your check ups have to more that 6 months apart. If you have it in 5 months and 30 days your claim will be refused.

I've tried to suspend my membership while I go on holidays for 13 months. Not only have they double charged me, they've also put the wrong date and put my policy on hold a month early. So they have somehow managed to overcharge me while cancelling my policy a month early!!

So far I've been on the phone for 50 minutes and it's still not resolved.

I've had many other issues but I'm sick of wasting my time even thinking about them!

I was with NIB for nearly 20 years and never had a problem. I unfortunately fell for the Qantas points marketing.

Consider VERY carefully before using BUPA.

Overseas Visitor’s Cover Auto-Renews, Hard to Cancel

Getting BUPA overseas visitors coverage during our two week trip to Australia turned out to be a lot like signing up for a dodgy “free trial” with an auto-renewing subscription. Except there was no free part and I’m out like $760 AU. During sign-up it asks the duration of your stay. You might think this is because they will help your policy end when your stay ends. They will not! Prices on their site are listed bi-weekly, but you can’t be charged bi-weekly, so you’re paying for a month of coverage no matter what. They carefully don’t send you any emails or reminders as the next month comes up until the day after it direct debits. Then you CAN’T CANCEL ONLINE.

Waste of money

Was given Bupa as part of a work package, paid extra for family to be included. Unfortunately wife became ill and tried to use the service. Was given options of professionals to see, however they kept missing online appointments, then given a list of people to see, only never able to get an appointment. What's the point. Complained to Bupa only to be told it's not there fault and it is what it is. Thank good for the NHS who managed to help my wife. Will never sign up to these thief's again.

And the saga continues

And the saga continues. Yet again BUPA sends me a letter saying they apologies for the delay, offering a dire compensation offer but not actually addressing my concern that my claim has not been paid. Spend 30 mins on the phone with them again only to be told they still need information which I know for a fact they already have. Next stop....Ombudsman. Truly shocking customer service.

Getting a 63 point questionnaire with no warning and unclear explanation of why .
It contains questions about my entire medical history including in relation to mental health.
I was just getting my teeth cleaned.
How dare you assume that much of my time. And the information is available at all my health carers . Ask them .
This was and is an invasion of my privacy which I'm not prepared to give up. If the threat is no service from Bupa , great who wants that kind of treatment anyway.
Your Corporate behaviour is out of control.
The dentist in question is irrelevant.

I should read the online review before…

I should read the online review before I selected Bupa. I used Bupa for my parents visitor cover. I was authorised person for both of my parents. Under the same cover I claimed before never had no single issues . As soon as my parents went back home. The things went all from great to worst service. I strongly recommend everyone please read the online reviews before joining or changed their policy with Bupa. Join Bupa to stay on phone que for 2 to 3 hours. Very good in direct debit from your accounts. If any claims to submit or to request will takes you forever. Going back and forward. It should be named as going back forward policy instead of named as Bupa. I strongly suggest all the online viewing please don’t join Bupa. Choose to waste your time and money over here. No one over here can help you or get things sorted. Stay in the que forever. Please join Bupa to invest to waste your time and money. I had a joined policy for my parents. When called the customer service for chat can’t answer or disclose or share or answer me properly over the phone. All I was informed I can’t have 2 person under one policy. I asked the simple question back why Bupa charged me for 2 person under the same policy holder for more than 2 years. In the reply no answer I also seek them why it was not communicated to me or invoiced me at the beginning. No answer. I also suggested them to refund me for 2 years if the policy can’t be joined together. No answer. Only took my feedback for follow up

Less than helpful employees

Bupa employees were less than helpful when I called about a claim. I was upset because I was told that bupa were going to cover 60% of a surgery for me and that was the only way I could afford it but when I called up they said they were actually only going to cover 200 dollars out of a large sum of money. I was obviously upset as now I cannot afford the surgery and the person I spoke to on the phone had absolutely zero people skills and just kept reiterating the fact that I would have to pay out of pocket. They desperately need customer training absolutely awful experience. I wouldn’t recommend to anybody.

Worst OSHC service ever

Submitted a claim last year around June, until now it still hasn't been paid. Contacted the staff at the end of last year and they told me to login to my account to submit the claim again as it somehow wasn't recorded in their system. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do that as I'm an overseas student who is no longer in Australia, and they introduced an SMS verification for login, which locked me out of my account as I no longer have an Australian number. They then sent a cheque to my last registered address in Australia, which I'm no longer staying at. Contacted them again after a few letters of warning, and they told me to check my bank account for any payments for that claim, even though I told them previously to pay directly to the medical service provider, which they have been doing until I left Australia for some unknown reason.

In the name of Health Insurance policy…

In the name of Health Insurance policy BUPA is ripping everyone.
I pay premium policy for my parents every month I pay Approximately $350.31. They stayed years and years.
If Bupa cannot help overseas travellers why you came up with idea to get cover for them?
Am here trying to tell people how I got treated.
Don’t even think of BUPA for insurance for you’re parent. You’ll ended up going no where if you want to claim anything.

They will tell you all the policy that you haven’t heard before joining in.

Save some time and you energy to find good one
In short word don’t fall for this such a bad customer service.

New customer with BUPA. Errors after errors…

Switched to BUPA in October after was promised 95,000 Woolworths points and various extras. So far I’m back and forth with them and lodged 2 official complaints. Nothing has been rectified yet and keep giving me reasons why they messed up. I clearly don’t care, I simply want them to rectify their errors and allocate me what they promised me in order for me to sign up. Simple.
If by the end of the month all isn’t fixed I’m switching providers!!!
