Thanks to Butternut Bikes for their speedy service and friendly approach in an ad hoc emergency repair yesterday. Much appreciated!

Great service, wonderful staff. Couldn't be more helpful. They're very knowledgeable about bikes and even helped me when I needed to blow up my son's football! Fantastic local shop.

Great fast service when I got my new bike assembled here. Very friendly, answered my questions and gave me some good advice too. I will definitely use them again when I need my bike serviced.
Full info could improve the feels you get a lot
The lost star was quite a big loss as it left me feeling bad afterwards. I'll start with my disappointment...I needed a bearing for a child's balance bike. The bike itself cost £50 and I ended up spending £20 to get a single 'not perfect' bearing on it. Which was a lot more than i imagined.
The first time I went in without the wheel and told a different employee that because of the bike's price it depended on if I wanted to get it fixed there, he said it could cost 20 plus or maybe a lot less but to bring it in to find out.
Second visit. I was initially thinking to buy bearing if they had it and do it at home, but if it was a not too expensive and if they didn't sell them that it'd be worth paying them to do it. They didn't have the bearing but was told it cost £3 online and if I bought it back next week they'd do it. With the right part it should have been a 5 min job and something that sounded like it was gonna be about a tenner in price (the lower end of what the first guy said). I do realise that was my assumption but as I didn't think anything was gonna be fixed then thought I'd go back next week.
At this point options came up that we should have been told we had, but I didn't realise this til after. If we were now told 'right you can either go get the part and it will cost £x next week, or I can try fashion something for you now that will cost £y more today'. The transparency in giving me that choice would have taken any shock away at the end, or wishing the thing didn't happen and that I'd waited til next week (or even if I choose to pay the excess because of ease at least I was forewarned and made peace with that decision) and made me more likely to return.
We were told to hang on while the guy had a look around just in case. He fashioned a 'not perfect' fix and passed me the machine with a £20 bill on it. I kept a poker face but had a heart attack inside. I didn't ask for a price at the beginning, in part because I was told they didn't have the piece so didn't think the work would happen then and I would be buying it online. Something I regret, even so the price should be given before the work was undertaken.
This could have been avoided by giving transparent price options before completing the work to make sure the customer's expectations were set and a 360 knowledge of what the guy's plans were.
I left with a fixed bearing but feeling bad which is what I'm sure they don't want their customers feeling and something that could be avoided by fully informing the customer of whats happening with costs.
The good part is that the guy tried really hard to fix the wheel to the axle even though he didn't have the correct size in the shop and fixed it the same time as we went in. Friendly, accommodating staff.

Very good service
I went to Butternut to service my 4 year old Cannondale Bad Boy 2 bike and when I got it back it was literally as good as new. Very professional service. I would highly recommend them.
Lovely, professional service.
Lovely, friendly, helpful and professional bike repairs. I popped in for a repair for my bike, I couldn't believe that they had only been open for a few months! It's great to see a new business doing well, much better than a few other bike shops in the area that I've been to.
Solved a few problems that were wrong with my bike that the other shops had missed, and also charge less for services too. I noticed that they had a big cargo bike outside too, and it turns out that they were doing free repairs for a local food bank! Really great to see and I hope that they do well.
