TOTAL SCAM!!!!
Have been taking £15 a month off me for over 12 months without my permission. Uncontactable and should be an illegal website. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE
What an absolute con, I purchased a book in 2021 for 3.99, I have since discovered I have in actual fact paid this company 348.99 for absolutely nothing - reported to my bank and stopped any further payments - ABSOLUTE DISGRACEFUL THEY CAN DO THIS !!!! CON ARTISTS STEALING YOUR MONEY !!!!!
Absolutely ridiculous. It's a total scam. You buy a book and they send you a contact attached to the receipt. READ IT! it signs you up to a contract you never asked for or approved then they just start debiting your account for £15 a month!! For what? I blocked them on my account in 2021 and apparently this only lasts 13 months. So then they just start changing you again. I can't believe they are allowed to get away with this!
This company has been taking £15 a month off me for over 12 months without my permission. A total scam. I have tried to contact them without success to request a refund of monies paid and to cancel any information they have re my details. I have contacted my bank to stop payment.
All from a book purchase. Totally disgusting!!!!
Do not trust!!!
I have tried to contact them unsuccessfully. Change of password does not work.
I bought one book, they took £15 a month from me for 19 months (I know, I should check my bank statements more throughly!) They don't remind you you've joined with any contact, there's no communication whatsoever, they just take your money. Basically a morally corrupt business that should have no place in this world. Everyone working there should be ashamed of themselves. Avoid them like the plague!
I wish i could give 0 stars.
The model for this company is that you order a book, and if you choose the discounted price, they automatically enrol you for monthly membership. No direct debit forms, no receipts, they just take the money and rely you don't notice it coming out of your account. They simply say we put the terms etc on the confirm email.
I rang them requesting a refund, was simply told can't do that, you can send us an email. Terms etc were on your order email. I just discovered they have taken £180 over the last year.
When dealing with reputable companies, in similar situations (e.g subscription renewed but no longer using the service) i have always been offered at least a partial refund if not full refund. This company offer nothing which is why so many people refer to it as a SCAM and feel so CHEATED.
NB I have provided my order details with this review.
Disgusting company.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

I don`t think this company actually has any books, Order was confirmed but never received. To be fair I was not charged. But it is still advertised on site as in stock so i emailed them but surprise surprise no reply. Why do these companies waste peoples time

Horrendous customer service. I placed an order, no delivery / tracking after 9 days. I contacted them. Item out of stock, no indication on website at time of order that the book was out of stock. Item to be refunded, will take up to 30 days allegedly returned to my debit card. No apology either. Terrible service all round.

This website is a complete and utter scam. I ordered from here in late 2022 and they began taking £15 out of my account, stating that there was a membership. The prospect was that there was no information present that enabled you to have a membership, just that you can buy a book. As a result, I went to my bank and they had the website cancelled and no further transaction will be withdrawn from my account. This was until last week, I had £15 taken out of my account, which is unusual, considering that I’ve got a new bank card and they can’t take anymore transactions out. It’s an utter scam and once you inquire this to them, it’s an automatic email with in-factual information. This place should be completely shut down, disrespectful and disgusting to those, who can’t be dealing with money being taken out their account intentionally . Should be ashamed.

This company is a SCAM I had a dispute with them in 2021 when their lack of information led to me paying £15 a month for nothing. I now see two years later they’ve started taking it again WT¥!

Very disappointing service. Constantly charged £15 per month despite disputing it. Absolute scam

An employee of theirs called Josephine confirmed my book was in stock in hardback as requested. They let me pay for it and then sent me an email to say that they'd only got the book in paperback🙄 Why advertise a product and let me pay for something that they Buuks.co.uk👎 (a Danish company) clearly haven't got ?! It's false advertising. I can see why their reviews are poor now.

Didn't realise they'd been taking £15 per month since November 2021!! This is a subscription and from reading reviews I am now aware it's catching many others out too. Apparently this is made clear on a computer but NOT on mobile, which let's be honest is where most people now use the Internet. Disgusting way of doing business.

I would give the stars 0 if it let me.
Warning such a scam company.
When buuks reply to this- please let me know how we get our money back.
I have put it on the right company's trust pilot!!! I think you obviously need to change how people order especially if on a mobile so everything is seen. Making one purchase on debit card does not give authorisation to take money out without proper consent.

Shameful.
I first placed an order on 22 July which was amended and accepted on 27th July. When I enquired about the order on 11th August I was told two of the books I ordered were "out of stock from the publisher" and I agreed to remove them from the order.
So I am being charged for a second months membership with no books dispatched from an order I placed over one month ago!
I am not sure if this company actually has any books, but they seem reluctant to release them!

AVOID AVOID AVOID. I bought a note book for £5.79 over 2 years ago. This week I saw a £15.00 withdrawal from my account. When I called them I had the usual 'Unfortunately, we are unable to find you in our system' but pushed and got them to find it. Oddly they had got my old debit card number so my next trip is to the HSBC.
I certainly never knew I had signed up to a book club. It's a scam.

I purchased a book on 30/05/2021 and have been paying £15 per month since then. I was not aware that it was a monthly subscription. Other subscription services, e.g. audible, remind you that you have credit and you have a choice of using that credit or pausing your subscription. Buuks.uk.co count on the fact that people may have missed or forgotten about the subscription and are very careful not to remind them. I've just been told that I could get a refund if I returned the book within 14 days, i.e. by 13/06/21. They have no shame. People should remember to check the reviews. I do not know how a seller can survive with over 70% of one-star reviews and very unhappy customers.

I have just realised that £405 has been taken from my account since I bought a book for a fiver from them - or at least that's all I thought I was doing. It was not clear that I was agreeing to a membership, therefore I could not consent to this money being taken; as such Buuks obtains money by deception and manipulation.
As The Guardian reports; "While the £15-a-month membership fee is made very clear to computer users, it is not obvious if you are on a mobile phone" (look it up - links not permitted in reviews)
Painfully, I have just become aware that I have been a member for 27 months. Not once in this time period have I received an email with offers or information about their books. Neither did I receive a confirmation of membership email, only a confirmation or order email, and now, a confirmation of membership cancellation. This is clearly strategic so that anyone who has become victim to their deception does not become aware that they have signed up to such a membership. Their strategy is to exploit those vulnerable to their manipulation and get away with it for as long as they can; this is how they make their money.
Yes, it is my responsibility to check my account, but it is their responsibility not to deceive and coerce people. They get away with it on technicalities, but there is a bigger picture here that matters. It is not made clear - their business model is manipulative and exploitative and in my view, clearly immoral.
When I contacted them, their responses were gaslighting.
Do not order from Buuks. There are many alternatives that have some basic humanity in them.

Its a scam and when you complain they say they can't trace you so can't help. it's true that part of the fault is mine in not scrutinising my monthly statement closely enough to see that they were taking £15 a month without telling me, but I had absolutely no idea they were going to use my financial detais to do this. It's a scam.
