I agree with all the other reviews on being easily caught out. I bought a book a while ago and I’ve realise I’ve been charged £15 a month for a while 😫. Most expensive book I have ever bought! It definitely wasn’t made very clear. Beware

It is evident by the number of negative reviews that this company operate in a corrupt way, which dupes you into a stealth subscription service. I purchased a small toy item and found out 6 months later that I had been paying £15 a month subscription. I reported this as fraud with my bank and I demanded that they sent me all the data they hold me under GDPR but they have stopped answering emails from me now and just ignore me. No doubt there will be a reply below appearing where they can't find my details or ask me to contact them to confirm, (only for them to ignore). DO NOT USE BUUKS UK FOR ANY SERVICES! THEY WILL ONLY TAKE YOUR MONEY BY STEALTH. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

As with other reviews listed below, I also only purchased 1 book and was not aware of the £15/month membership. I have bought many many books online and I have never experienced anything like this. I am appalled by the lack of information and communication. I have sent them an email asking them for a full refund of money that I have unintentionally spent in membership and also intend to refer this incident to the police.

I'm not sure how other reviewers manage to miss the fact that there's a monthly membership charge, it's very clearly stated all over the website from the home page onwards, and when you select a book for your basket it clearly has 2 options - the lower "member price", which involves accepting the monthly membership cost, or the higher "normal price". Right next to the membership price it explains again that you need to sign up for the monthly charge to buy it for this price. It tells you once again when you go to check out your purchases. It's not "small print" at all, it's everywhere.
You can cancel any time, so you can just sign up for a month if you want, and then cancel very easily.
It's very clear and I don't think it's fair so many people are giving 1 star reviews because they managed to miss something very obvious. If you are looking to buy several books it's a fantastic service, you can save so much money. I find I can get a bunch of brand new books for the same/less cost (including the membership cost) as buying battered second hand copies from ebay, and way less than Amazon etc. I've had a couple of deliveries from them and I'm really happy with them.
I think people are angry with themselves for not reading the details displayed all over the place, and taking it out on the website! Very unfair.

I would have given 0 stars if I could.
Yes, for those who read all small print and order lots of books regularly this might be a good company but if you are an individual who just quickly buys one book and doesn't expect to be signed up to a monthly membership of £15, it's a terrible company! I bought plenty of books online and I've never been signed up to some kind of monthly membership and for £15! It's a terribly high price to pay and you get no emails, which is obviously very convenient for them. What kind of company doesn't even send any regular deals/ offers to their customers? This one doesn't because they like keeping you in the dark and carry on paying for months and months. A decent company would actually send something if they saw that their member has not purchased anything for months or even years but they don't bother! Greedy and completely lacking any decency!

Please believe the one star rating. My granddaughter purchased a book from Amazon for £3.42 and a subscription was set up without her knowledge for £15 per-month. Unlike other reviews, we provided them with the information via phone & email and they were able to find my granddaughters details on their system. All they did was send back the original confirmation of purchase and confirm the subscription had been cancelled. No mention of the 7 monthly subscription payments made before this issue was identified. In this time my granddaughter received no communication or books. I'm guessing a small print tick box was included in the terms somewhere. Do not deal with them! We are taking it forward with the bank, the police and solicitors.

Just had to deal with a very upset grandchild who bought a book from this company via Amazon. Not realising she had agreed to a £15 subscription being taken out of her bank every month. I immediately looked at Trust pilot and can see she is not alone. She too has paid over £100 for a book she brought as a present. Shocking, deceptive practice. Amazon should not deal with this company.

I purchased a single book back in January, paid for my book and thought no more of it, this month I notice Buuks have been taking £15 out of my bank account every month since. I would never have knowingly clicked a subscription button….beware!!! I haven’t been back to the site once since that initial one of purchase in January (a gift for someone) Explained all of the above to Buuks Customer services, told them I didn’t knowingly sign up for a subscription, Buuks not interested, it’s not right. Has this happened to anyone else??

Reply from Buuks UK
It is the worst company to be dealing with. Please stay away from it!!! They will charge you for subscription even if you didn’t sign up for anything. Even if you call them, they would never help you, just tell you that is all your fault and they cannot do anything.

Do not use !!!!! I brought a book from Buuks back in November last year thinking I had a bargain then my bank contacted me this month about this scam that I hadn't realised I was caught up in. So the book in the end cost me £107.00 in total. I had no idea I was even signed up to a subscription and I have never received any notification of this via email or text. So they gladly debit your account £15.00 a month and the customer has no idea. I put in a refund which was refused but the direct debit has now been cancelled.

I have tried to cancel my membership as had no idea I had been signed up to £15 a month.... which has been going on for MONTHS!!!
Dreadfully hard to actual cancel and still they are taking payments.... what do I do to get a refund and cancel this awful membership site.
Definitely not a site to recommend.
