I had to wait in the hot sun over 2 1/2…

I had to wait in the hot sun over 2 1/2 hours for a tow. I live outside of Hamilton but they have tow trucks coming from all over the region. It could be coming from Toronto or London or anywhere so not local. I had my fob die on me which disabled my engine and the windows in my car were glitchy so would roll down randomly. The driver would not allow my chihauhau to drive in the cab with me and insisted he stay in the car although twice while we were driving the windows rolled down where he could have jumped out on the highway. I thought he was going to die. Uncaring driver. Just a horrific experience overall and felt totally traumatized.

Poor Service

My son was in a serious accident, called CAA to have his truck towed and when the tow truck approached the scene the driver said he could not help remove his truck from the scene, he was not equipped with the right truck and left. The police told my son the vehicle needs to be moved ASAP or it will be impounded, another tow truck happened to be In the area and helped my son with no issues. After receiving a $500 invoice for the tow we ended up calling CAA to put in a complaint of the poor service. We have been dealing with CAA on the phone and decided to cancel the my son’s subscriptions. Have been a member from 2007 and paying for 3 memberships and this was the poor service we received. Still waiting for a manager to contact me back on this matter 2 months later. Very unfortunate that this company likes to take our money but does not give you the service when needed. Staff on the phone very rude and short fused. They all seem to understand the situation but do nothing about it.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM CAA TOWING & BEHNAM KATOUZIAN

Be forewarned that behnam katouzian is the worst tow truck driver we have ever dealt with. He has no regard for the rules of the road and safety. We are shocked that CAA allows him to service clients and let alone be on the road. Rude, aggressive and condescending with NO respect for other drivers.

My car died today in the driveway just as I got home to unload groceries, for the second time this year. While disappointed both times, each time I had a great experience with the person on the phone who arranged my service and the two driver who showed up. Today it was Ehsan. Just like the driver earlier in the year, both were kind, funny and easy to talk to. Let's be honest, it's not the best day when your car dies around dinner time of a very long day. So a friendly face to take care of things is great and appreciated. Plus this time he dropped my car at my mechanic which was fantastic. Thanks so much Ehsan. Keep shining your light.

Today

Today, I experienced a very disappointing service from CAA.

First, I was unable to start my car, so a technician came and assessed the situation. He told me the vehicle needed to be towed for repair, and I waited for the tow truck. When the tow truck driver arrived, he repeatedly insisted that my car had no fuel and did not need towing, even though I told him I had just filled 50 litres the night before. He refused to believe me and didn’t attempt to start the car.

Eventually, he said he could tow it within 10 kilometers, but then asked for my documents. I showed everything I had, and although my insurance had expired by a month, I explained my husband was sending the updated version, and I also contacted my insurer to confirm the renewal. The driver said it was okay, so I told my company I’d return shortly.

However, just as my updated insurance arrived and I went to show him, he had already left without notifying me. I was shocked and frustrated. I had already waited a long time for the technician and then for the tow truck, only to be treated dismissively. He clearly prioritized another job and made excuses to avoid helping me.

This is not the level of service I expect from CAA. I hope this issue is taken seriously and steps are taken to ensure better customer care in the future.

CAA Doesn't give an ounce of care about its customers

Being a 30 year customer having usually 2 to 3 cars insured at the same time along with CAA home insurance for the same amount of time. Only 2 claims, one of a camera stolen from a breakin and another were I was rear ended at a traffic light. I tried to get CAA to help by filling out a form concerning a LEGIT STUDENT EXEMPTION from ICBC in BC for my son so he can drive my car while in university in BC on Ontario plates and Ontario insurance (CAA).
First of all, the CAA staff didn't even believe me there is such an exemption, and after they realized there is, they didn't want to fill out the form and wanted to send their form which is ludicrous. They finally sent an email for me to attach the correct form, now they won't respond to me. I never swore or said anything disrespectful.
I just said that I want service which really is what I'm paying them $445 every month on auto and house insurance for. I keep emailing and no response, they have decided to ignore me. give it a couple of days and I'll go looking for another provider. Someone that actually cares and does service for the money you are paying them. Feeling rather pissed for sure.

Tow truck driver - horrible experience

Needed to get my motorcycle towed. They initially said it would be a 65 minute wait. At that time they texted me and said it would be another 25 minutes. At that point I got an automated call saying it would be another 15 minutes - so it was almost exactly 2 HOURS before they arrived. When the truck driver came I asked him to drop me off at my house (which was 20 minutes away and ON THE WAT to the dealership/. He said he would be putting the dealership into his GOS Ann’s whatever directions it gave was where he would dive and that only if my house was on that direction path would he take me. Meanwhile it was LITERALLY ONE kilometer further for him if he drippped me off first and then went to the dealership.
I am a single female and he left me 20 minutes away from home because he could not be bothered to drive 1 km. When I asked him about it he said you can take an Uber’. Wow. So my business premium membership that I have had for over 30 years obviously means nothing to this person. He was rude and simply did not care about my wellbeing.
It is just shocking given that tow truck drivers have done this in the past - as long as they aren’t going out do their way and this guy LITERALLY was only driving 1km further.
Meanwhile they have a ‘drive me home’ feature that you are also suppose to be able to use once a year outside of towing. But this person couldn’t be bothered.

I have a 16 year old daughter about to start driving and if this had happened to her I would be livid.

CAA INSURANCE

CAA Home Insurance Department is useless. I ended up purchasing insurance from my bank...and at a very low price. On renewal, I will also now be giving up my CAA auto insurance and CAA membership. Easier, cheaper and better customer service at the bank. Good-bye CAA!

Left hand does not speak to right

Left hand does not speak to right. Towed my truck to wrong location after verifying 3 times the correct location. 5 hours on phone to get correct and still waiting for driver. I have been a member since 2016 and have never seen such incompetence in my life.

Driver inexperienced

All was well until the driver would not listen to a friend who came to assist me. My vehicle had been broken into with both door locks and ignition completely destroyed. The vehicle could not be placed in neutral and therefore it was locked in parked. My friend who has been a licensed mechanic for 40 years told the driver who was dragging the vehicle onto the flat bed to either remove the drive shaft or place the transmission in neutral manually from underneath. The driver just continued to drag my vehicle onto the flat bed. Then at the local garage he would not listen to the two mechanics there who were attempting to place the vehicle in neutral, he continued to release the vehicle while one mechanic was getting under the vehicle.

Horrible experience, waited 6hrs in the heat

Awful experience.

I was stranded outside in the heat in thy middle of the gta from 11am to 5:30pm. I could not leave my car because of where it was parked. I waited 2 hours for them to send the WRONG truck. even though I confirmed with dispatch. After those 2 hours I was told "45 more minutes" for 4 more hours!!!!
What the hell am I paying for?? I had no food or water and no shade. Absolutely bullshit company who don't know what they're doing. I called so many times, always getting reassured that THIS TIME someone will be there soon. Absolutely the worst experience with any company I've ever had. Canceling my premium membership and encouraging others in my life to do so.

We called for a tow during bad weather…

We called for a tow during bad weather where I pulled off due to slippery roads and didn't feel safe to drive further to I called CAA to help get me and my car home. The guy was extremely rude, looked for every possible reason to deny me the tow and eventually said "we don't just move cars whenever people want". He would not send anyone. This left me stranded and having to pay for a tow truck to pick me and my car up. Never use this service, they take your money and treat you like you don't deserve their service.

I bought CAA Tenant Insurance 2025 July 9, and spoke to a human rep! a rarity today among online only options or struggles to speak to anyone via phone calls. Good rates, depends on what coverage you want, of course. I'm happy with basic. Also.. in Feb 2025 my car battery died when leaving Square One shopping centre in Msga, CAA was prompt sending a tow truck for an easy battery charge & with a fair option to buy new battery if wanted. Very happy with the service! & grateful for a functioning option.

Impressive Service Experience

I was about to leave midday, but my car in the garage would not start. I called CAA, I was told the response time would be 37 minutes. John the technician arrived in 15. He was quick, competent, and friendly. He diagnosed my issue as a nearly dead battery. Recommending replacement, with him or other venues. I decided to do it with him, and I am very pleased with the results. Thank you CAA and thank you John.
