Caliber Collision - DO NOT USE

My vehicle went in for inspection on Monday and was told I would have it back this week. Now I am being told that I will not have it back until the end of next week. Who can afford to be without their vehicle for 2 weeks? Customer service is absolutely no help and is unacceptable. I will never use Caliber for anything ever again.

Poor Customer Service

Location: Knoxville TN.

A bus scraped my new car while I was at a stop sign. The damage is not too bad but again, this is a new car.

I work two jobs at the age of 55 so time is limited. I noticed that this business offered the ability to upload pictures, sent to their estimator for an offical estimate of repair. Once the estimate is done, one can expect multiple e-mails requesting a repair scheduling with their business. This seems too good to be true, right? Yes indeed.

I sent this estimate to the school district's insurance company and they readily sent me a check. I've never had an insurance company actually send me a check. Not that I've had many accidents in my life (2 now) but I've only known insurances to deal with the collision center directly when it comes to payments. Regardless, this is what I was left with so I figured we would make it work since this company APPEARS to be on top of their game.

I decide to schedule my car drop off. The online scheduling allowed for Mon - Fri between 8am and 430pm. Sweet, I can drop this off between jobs on a Friday. Hmm..maybe not.

Estimates are just that..estimates. They determine the damage done, any replacement parts and time it would take to repair/paint. This estimate was indeed just that. Such and such for the mirror casing. Such and such for paint. Such and such for the allotted time they deemed it would take to repair. Naturally, we all realize that estimates are not precise and there are times when it will vary some. (I was ready to pay more if needed, out of pocket.)

A women called me while I was on my way to job #2. I missed it so I called back before clocking in. I guess they needed some information first. Well, it was not information they needed. They gave me every excuse in the book NOT to schedule. At the time I did not understand why they were dissuading me from keeping my appointment. Guaranteed money is just that: ka-ching. Or is it?

"We do not work with that insurance company."

Um..I am willing to pay beyond the $2k given to me by the company. After all an estimate should be give or take, within reason. I guess not.

"The make of your car (Nissan 2024 Sentra) has a rear camera, which means we may have to --blah blah excuse-- which would mean more time, perhaps adding $500 or more."

Thinking to myself: You knew my car's year and make when doing the estimate. Wouldn't have that been added onto the higher end of the estimate?

"Nissan is particular about the parts going onto their cars- blah blah"

Nissan is not paying for this and their eyes do not need to approve of your work. I do.

"Do you have another car? Because usually insurance companies provide one, but since you have paid out..blah blah."

No. It is okay because my wife has her new car that we bought at the same time as mine.

"Well. You schedule the drop off for next Friday at 430pm. We do not allow for over the weekend drop offs."

Let me get this straight. Your online schedular sets the dates and time available for appointments/drop off. Friday at 430 was available, so now what?

By this time I was "over" this collision business. I later thought about this and others can draw their own conclusion. In my opinion, they would rather deal directly with an insurance company so they can nickel and dime them to get the most amount of money possible from insurance. (It is no wonder insurance rates are so high. This is surely one minor factor in the equation.) A cash payer is not "bang for their buck" in my opinion.

My advice to this business on Kingston Pike in Knoxville:

1) Fix your calendar if you cannot accomodate appointments on that date.

2) When you perform an estimate, add in those "make/model" issues a part of the high-end estimate. Isn't that what a low-ball and high-ball estimate is all about?

3) Do not assume that a potential client is not willing to pay beyond insurance to get their car back to looking good. Good customer service is inviting all forms of payer's to your business to demonstrate how well you perform (not moneygate)." Good reputations are NOT EARNED by turning down good business and ultimately reviews.

Shame on you. May the truly best business for my business await. My pretty car deserves better than money snobs.

I stopped by the Caliber Collision in…

I stopped by the Caliber Collision in Glenside PA to have them evaluate a misalignment of my hood, which I suspected was pushed in by a large SUV that had been parked in front of me. The front desk person was very nice and tried to fix it, but couldn’t. She asked a mechanic for help, and he fixed it good as new…great on my 17 y.o. Camry! And there was no charge! What more could you ask for? I’ve always had very positive experiences at Caliber.

I went to caliber collision in…took my car in April after a damage to my front fender and my front bumper and under of my car from going over a curb, the paint job they did is the worst I've ever seen

I went to caliber collision in Pensacola FL. I dealt with April. Work was so bad that we refused to sign when we signed when we picked it up the lady said either sign and get your car or don't and we'll send it to an auction. So we signed horrible paint job and headlight bulbs aren't working. When we brought the car up showing the paint was mismatching real bad with the post vehicle inspection from another company me and my wife were trespassed and threatened to never go back or be arrested. My insurance company progressive seeing how horrible the stuff is so they're battling I'm trying to get their money back and now I'm allowed to go to a different Auto body shop of my choosing so they're at least some good out of it do not use the shop and stay away from April and Megan like your life depend on it

We have had the worst experience we have ever had with a body shop. Wanted to give a warning to future customers. Get everything in writing. They will tell you anything to get your business then hold your vehicle hostage.

The body work and cleanliness were…excellent.

The body work and cleanliness were excellent however when I picked up the car the Check Engine Light was on. ( Which wasn't on when I dropped it off.) The manager took the car to another shop and it was corrected however that took and hour and a half. Also the repairs took longer than I expected.
So for these reasons I can not give Caliber five stars.

Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience! High quality work (particularly impressed with the paint work to repair very significant scratches), quick turn around (sourced Lexus parts and glass quickly), and great customer service! Lou went out of his way to have our broken window wrapped so we could drive it the day before our appointment. They also made sure to find a spot on their schedule to get us in quickly! We were treated as family and very happy with the service.

Stay away from this shop

Stay away from this shop! If you want good service and your repairs done right go elsewhere, even if the insurance company lists this shop as a preferred body shop. I am disgusted that the insurance company has them as preferred due to the shit show shop they are. They did such an awful job on my 2019 Blazer RS, it was 2 weeks longer than I was initially told the repairs would take. Then the service guy informed me he would return the vehicle to my place of employment which is 5 minutes away by 3:30 after having it a week longer than expected. When I called after he didn't show up I was informed by the other service guy that he left for the day. He proceeded to inform me that my car had to be painted for a 3rd time because it didn't come out to the managers expectations. Then I had to wait another whole week for it to be finished. Once I received the car back it was raining and the car backend was dirty and wet, I didn't get a good look at it till a few days later. It was horrible, and they didn't even remove the tape from the window, which I still can't get off between the window and tailgate. The paint job is bumpy and wavy, the inside of the tailgate wasn't even fixed. It has paint runs and doesn't match the rest of the original factory paint job. It looks like a paint job done by a child. Horrible!! I was informed that the request for a review would be sent over and he proceeded to tell me that his mother taught him if "he had nothing nice to say, to not say anything at all." It was clear he knew what a shitty job and service I was provided to express that quote to me. When it was returned my vehicle had more than 200 miles on it then when I dropped it off, so my assumption would be it was out for a joy ride considering the shop was less than 5 miles from my job. I am absolutely disgusted with this "preferred body shop" and would ever allow them to touch another vehicle of mine ever!! STAY AWAY FROM THE SHIT SHOW!!!

I'd Look Elsewhere for a better Service

I had my SUV repaired at Caliber in late July after being struck by a drunk driver on the parkway. After picking it up in early August, I gave a glowing review in response to their email request. However, upon returning to sign final papers and address an unfixed taillight (which they never fixed), I discovered that all my truck mats were missing.

When I went inside, an employee greeted me with, "Hi, you really f**ked me with that review." I was taken aback, as I had only written positive things and hadn't mentioned the taillight or the missing mats. He refused to explain what was wrong with my review and tried to change the subject.

Eventually, they admitted to losing the mats (which were visibly present in the "before" photos) and agreed to replace them. After a month passed, they claimed the mats were on backorder for my 2022 truck. I waited patiently for two more months, but still no mats.

Frustrated, I found ( in less than 5 minutes) and ordered the mats online myself. They arrived within two days! I showed the employee the invoice in October and was promised reimbursement. November passed, then December, with no reimbursement. They claimed a check was mailed (which I never received), and then offered a gift card. When I went to pick it up, they didn't have it. Finally, after seven months of waiting, I received my reimbursement this week in February.

This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The staff was rude, the work was incomplete, and their attitude was arrogant and dismissive. Only Manager Marvin seemed to care and take action. I DO NOT recommend this company unless you wanted to be treated like you don't matter.

The Caliber Collision location was…

The Caliber Collision location was slick. They insisted on dropping off my Jeep at home and offering to return the rental car. Never ever do that. A 10 min trip took well over 2 hrs AFTER the sun was down. I was unable to carefully look at the repair work. Caliber Collision DID NOT do the work promised in replacing the left front fender and bumper. I gave them a favorable review earlier only looking at 2 obvious repairs- I now know why they were so eager to return the car late in the day on a Friday 10 days earlier than promised. Do not trust this company and take your vehicle to a small privately owned shop where they actually care. Caliber Collision is too big now and in bed with the insurance companies to do the least amount of work and not what was promised. Very disappointed and unhappy.

Cracked windshield

The Hemet location did work on my car and when I got it back I noticed a crack in my passenger window. I left a review asking to see before and after pictures, the lady called me and I called her back and nothing. This issue has yet been resolved and the crack is still on my windshield...
