I use to be in charge Herts Latvia car hire service also at the present moment in charge of the fleet 400 units (motorhomes), I can see straight away plusses and minuses.
Minuses- too much family business, signs staff only, cheap Xmas tree decoration (better to don't have them at all), printed A4 laminated posters.
Saving on quality, losing customer experience.
I was a cold and early morning, customer service, not 100% friendly, packet in scarf and winter jackets, this little thing makes such a big difference.

Our unique selling point, and something that we take great pride in, is that we are an independent family business. We find that many people after using us prefer this, as opposed to using a national company.
I can only apologise that our Christmas tree and laminated signs don't meet your expectations and effected your customer experience when hiring with us. I'm sure you can appreciate being in the rental industry, some areas are limited to staff only due to data protection and customer safety.
Hopefully next time you hire it won't be so cold so our staff won't have to wear winter jackets and scarfs to keep warm.

Great service
Pick up was slower than usual but still no slower than the big hire companies, and there were no annoying questions about whether I want to buy extra insurance like most larger hire companies give you. The booking was efficient.

AVOID THIS COMPANY
Everything ok in the booking process and car collection (booked the van for 24 hours, but returned after 3, as only needed for a to dispose of some old furniture). However problems have started when I brought back the van:
I filled the tank until the the end (pump machine clicked 3 times before I stopped), however the gauge took sometime to go up to just below the red line (full tank) and it was still raising (if you google it you see this is a common issue with vans and SUVs). I returned the van with the receipt of from the filling station and they argue the pump was not full and from the 'calculation' they did there was ~half gallon missing (~2-3 pounds). I offered to go with them to the filling station to show them it was full, but they refused and became quite rude. After seeing that, I wasn't going to argue for 2-3 pounds and offered them 5-10 pounds for filling up as the situation was becoming ridiculous! They refused this, as it was against their company policy. They agreed to bring the van themselves to the filling station and charge me if any diesel went in. Therefore I left.
I checked my credit card balance after a couple of days and to my surprise no just the few pounds were charged, but the entire 100 pounds deposit!!!! I called back and spoke first with one of the employee and then with the manager, who were both very rude and abusive. They told they rented the van immediately after I left and they were going to refill this morning (4 days after!) and let me know. I told them how can they know how much diesel was actually going to be there if they rented the van without refilling. I was told they couldn't let wait the following customer wait. I reminded them that van was booked for an entire 24 hours, but I returned it only after 3 - so no booking was supposed to be made for that van. Once they realised that the manager became even more abusive and hanged up!
I have rented cars, SUV and vans around the world and NEVER had to deal with something like this!
AVOID THIS COMPANY!

As you are aware, when you returned the vehicle to us the fuel gauge was not showing full as it was when you took the vehicle. We are unaware of the issues you mention above, and this is not an issue other customers have had with our fleet.
It was discussed that the amount you had filled the vehicle up would not have covered the amount of miles you had driven which would be why the vehicle was showing under full. You offered to take a member of staff with you to fill the vehicle up, however it was explained this is not a practice we can do and we also haven't got any staff who would be available to do this at that time. You then tried to offer us cash for your estimation of how much you believe it would be to re-fill the vehicle. We explained that we can not accept this as we do not know how much the fuel would be needed to return the vehicle to full. We explained that you do have the option to take the vehicle and re-fill yourself but you declined to do this leaving the only option would be for us to re-fill this on your behalf as soon as we can, which we agreed to do this wavering our fuel charges. As you were prepared to go to the petrol station with a member of staff and offer cash in the office for the difference in fuel, I fail to understand why you didn't take the option to re-fill the vehicle yourself so this would have been resolved on the day.
You called us this morning asking why you hadn't had your deposit refunded. We explained the vehicle went out on hire after your rental (Thursday pm) and was only returned this morning (Monday) so we will get this re-filled today. You will only be liable for the fuel you used as marked on your damage sheet. I understand the time delay may seem unreasonable to you, but if we do not have time during the vehicle turn around to re-fill the vehicle on your behalf, we can not inconvenience and delay the next customer to do this. You booked for 24 hours but returned early. Once you return your vehicle, this then becomes available meaning we are free to take a booking on that vehicle which we did for later that day.
The £100 deposit is taken at the time of rental when you entered your pin number, not at the time of return.
I can assure no member of staff was rude or abusive to you at any point. The members of staff were doing there best, when you gave them the opportunity to, to have conversation with you regarding your complaint.
If you wish to discuss this further with us, please feel free to contact us. As discussed, the vehicle will be refilled today and the difference, from your deposit, will be refunded to your card.

Competitive price for a quality van. Service was quick and efficient. If there is a downside, they do not have their own parking. But there is on street parking nearby.

Trustworthy company and smooth process
