A very customer unfriendly club
A very customer unfriendly club. Something went wrong with the membership fee, my bank made a mistake and cancelled the payment, not aware of this i was contacted by the club, they told me the payment went wrong, i said " no problem " give me the bank details and i will pay the oustanding fee.
No way said the club, we are going to cancel your current membership and you will have to sign up for a new membership, of course the price went up..the dude on the phone was not in anyway helpfull.
Stay away from this club, there are better options now that i looked around.
The 1.9 score should say enough.
I have been a member for some time now
I have been a member for some time now, always valued my membership and had some brilliant camping holidays, the last being in October last year.
However, I look at the cost of pitching a tent today and am shocked by the cost.
During the colder months, we have been using Haven Caravans. For 4 nights in a really smart 4 to 6 Berth Caravan, including all electricity and gas, we pay just £49.
Those same 4 nights at Oban C&C site would cost the two of us £178 !!!!!!
Now add on to that, the present cost of fuel, the equipment packed into the vehicle, etc etc. and finally, the horrendous cost to sleep on a patch of grass in my own tent, it's a no brainer.
I can turn up at almost any of Havens holiday sites with a suitcase and sleep in relative luxury, warm and dry for the total sum of £49......
Yes, I still love camping, I have fortunes laid out in camping equipment and tents, but the camping sites are pricing themselves out of the market......
£175 to pitch my own tent on a patch of grass for 4 nights. Or, £49 to turn up to any Haven site and sleep in one of their Bronze Caravans.
Do the maths Campsites !!!!!
Diabolical customer care. They need to visit “Charm School “
I recently stayed at the Canterbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site, part of the Camping and Caravanning Club.
The site itself was clean and pleasant, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. I booked two nights at £52 per night but had to leave after one as my sister was unwell.
I contacted them politely and asked if they would consider a credit for the unused night, rather than a refund, but this was refused outright with no flexibility or understanding.
A real shame, as the site was nice, but the lack of goodwill has completely put me off using them again. I wouldn’t return or recommend.
Camping & Caravanning Club - rules above customer service
We recently rejoined the Camping & Caravanning Club after several years’ break and less than a month in, we’re so unimpressed by their customer care (or lack of) that we’ve opted to cancel our membership. Very rule-orientated; adhering to their rules seems to take priority over customer service. Very unhelpful, something we’ve never experienced from other sites or club during 9 years of motorhoming. Quite shocked at the lack of empathy…
Rubbish booking system, excellent dial-up booking service
This is a mixed review given 4 stars for the way my call was handled having fallen foul of an online booking system that's as bad as it ever was and I hope will be helpful for anyone else having the same problem. First, I've just returned to the club which is something I said I wouldn't do, only because the site we've been using near home costs more now than camping at the Graffham site which was always our favourite. So, I went online to make two Graffham bookings, one for 6 nights in May, the other for 7 in July. Having got almost right through the process on each two messages flagged up, one saying my booking didn't meet the minimum booking period which was palpably wrong because when I changed it from grass only to grass plus electric the dates were accepted. The other message said the pitch I'd chosen was no longer available so why was it an option on the previous page? I rang the club booking number and only had to wait 5 minutes to get through despite it being lunchtime when it's normally a bad time to call. I spoke to Rachel who grasped straightaway what I meant. She took my booking details and said she couldn't see any issue arising on her screen. Unfortunately like anywhere else you call today, what's on your screen isn't what the call handler is looking at so she suggested I could clear my data cache and try rebooking or she could do it for me. I opted for the latter as my cache data had only just been cleared. She said that if it didn't work I should notify the club of the fault. Having been a member for a long time before I knew that reporting a fault is a waste of time as nobody responds. Anyway, she did the bookings for me, grass only and required dates, and just a couple of minutes later the confirmation emails arrived. She was brilliant so I must give credit where it's due. However, as the booking online remains rubbish I'd suggest to anyone trying to book to ignore it online and give them a call and hopefully you'll get as good a service as I did.
Horrendous - avoid
Booked 1 night for a tent with a month’s notice. Realised almost instantly that I had made a mistake with our route and needed an alternative location - after 30 mins wait on phone got through to customer service who told me they were keeping my deposit (even though it was a month away and I had called immediately and a tiny booking). Unjustifiably harsh, unhelpful and downright vindictive. Will never use again.
Ridiculous wait on phone.
Rang today to cancel my membership as caravan sold. 13 minutes on hold then abruptly told call was being transferred to another department. Number 8 in queue with roughly 7 minutes to answer each call. . Needless to say I hung up.
I was literally about to book a pitch
I was literally about to book a pitch, but decided to quickly double-check the dates before confirming. I went back to checkout within seconds… and the price had increased by £70.
Nothing changed on my end – same dates, same site – just a sudden price hike in under 10 seconds.
That kind of pricing behaviour feels very misleading and leaves a bad impression. Lost my trust straight away, so I didn’t go ahead with the booking.
No thanks.
Closure of the only Northern Ireland site but no refund offered
I recently cancelled my membership of The Camping and Caravanning Club after the closure of the Delamont Club Site, which was the only Club-operated site in Northern Ireland.
As someone without personal transport, the site was the only one realistically accessible to me. After its closure, I contacted the Club to ask whether a discretionary refund of my £53 membership fee could be considered.
The Club responded that because the request fell outside their 14-day cooling-off period they were unable to offer a refund, even though the only local site had closed.
The staff were polite in their replies and confirmed my membership has been set to non-renew, but the policy felt inflexible given the circumstances.
Potential members in Northern Ireland may want to consider the limited local access before joining.
Shocking behaviour from C and C club
My parents own a lodge at Theobalds campsite owned by The Camping and Caravanning Club. They have had the lodge for over ten years. Two days ago they received an email stating that the campsite was being sold, with completion tomorrow (Friday).
Absolutely disgusted with The Camping and Caravanning site.
I went there today and even the wardens didn't know what was going on, they had been told at the same time as the lodge owners.
We have to wait until tomorrow to find out who had bought the land. If it's a housing development site, my parents holiday home becomes worthless.
Disgusting that something so clearly been in the making for months has only been told to us the week the land is being sold.
Shame on you Camping and Caravanning Club.
Stayed on a number of CCC campsites…
Stayed on a number of CCC campsites during the year. Have noticed substantial pitch prices rises particularly after covid. The 5pitch sites offer better value for money in fantastic locations ,however I do have a soft spot for Delamere lovely site nice staff.
We are lucky as we get the over 60 discount which the other club didn't give.
Visited the St David's site for three…
Visited the St David's site for three days. The facilities were poor and the staff unhelpful. Waste of membership fee.
Shocking website for booking
Shocking experience today trying to book
Have booked 7 sites not using this one with no problem
This one totally hopeless
So frustrating and time consuming
Will go elsewhere
Some stunning sites, mixed attitudes
I liked many of the site locations, such as Derwentwater, which is amazing. Culzean Castle is also fantastic. Most of the site staff have been friendly and helpful, some exceptionally so (inc Crowborough) and remembered me from only occasional visits. Sadly a few have been patronising (men), with me being a solo female, and one was downright rude -mind you i haven't seen him on that site since and stayed there a lot this year (Normans Bay). Having toured extensively over the past few years i have spent a fortune on sites all over the UK, and mostly used CCC. Yet when i wanted to move a booking from one site to another closer to home in 2025, due to personal circumstances, head office booking staff said no as it was under 10 days (8). I needed to be nearer home, so after an unsuccessful written appeal, cancelled the booking and lost £25. I should have asked the wardens directly, who I'm sure would have been more helpful. The CCC lost over £300 as i booked a nearer site with the other club. It's also potentially lost a member, as I haven't decided whether to renew membership or not, and lost further income as i haven't booked with them since. Okay it's only £25 i lost, but i no longer feel like a valued member and my loyalty to them was certainly not reciprocated.
We've been members for 22 years and have nothing but praise for the Club.
We've been members for 22 years, starting when our children were small and staying in a tent; now in our motorhome. We've always appreciated the Club's wonderful facilities and the helpful, friendly staff. We've just been to Canterbury Club Site and had a lovely time. Spotlessly clean facilities, lovely hot water showers: just what you need after you've been on the road for a couple of hours. And we especially enjoyed a delicious home made pizza from the 'Fry Lite' van parked on site on Saturday night. Good value too. There's also the Golf Club just opposite on the main road where you can get a hot meal. What's not to like? Who wants to cook or travel into town to eat?
Great dog walks around the site and the best place to stay on the way to Europe as the Motorhome and Carvanning site is now closed. Definitely worth another visit - when it's not raining!!

Absolutely NOT worth the money
Absolutely NOT worth the money. 7 days touring Scotland by motorbike. Their sites IF they could be found were hugely overshadowed by far more superior non member sites.
These ppl rip you off

Words fail me really not interested in loyal customers. Considering now to end membership.
Overpriced sites
Overpriced sites, greedy company. A couple of examples. I recently stayed at a private independent site where the owner told me they were no longer affiliated the C&CC. The owner installed electricity on pitches and the C&CC immediately increased the price by £10/night. According to owner the average elec usage was less then £1 per night so the C&CC average profit on electricity alone was 1000 percent ! Another C&CC site advertised the price as 'from £10/night. I completed the online form for a small motorhome plus 2 people for 2 nights and up popped the price £180 !!! C&CC sites are generally ok but many prices are simply rip off greedflation.
