I hired a mini van . We were 7 passengers - two over 80, two over 60 and the others responsible adults in their twenties. I returned the van to Gdansk airport. The van was inspected by a Carfree employee. There were no issues. I have just received my credit card bill and I was charged 700 Zloty (around 150 pounds). I rang up customer services to complain and they informed me that as I left the Van in such as state, I was required to pay this amount. No proof was given or offered. I asked for a photo of the so called damage. They didn't have any such proof to hand. I am a responsible driver - passed my test over 40 years ago and my passengers were well behaved and did not eat in the car. It is disgusting that I have been charged this amount without any proof and despite the car having been inspected without any issues being raised. Do not hire a car from this company.

Since my original review. I received an email from the Company who tried to explain the penalty they paid me by sending me photos of three very small stains (about 3-4 mm) on the back seats. I deny that my 80 year old passengers made any such stains. The person who took the car from me, inspected it and said it was OK. I repeat. This is a scam. In 30 years of hiring cars, this is worst car company I have come across. Don't hire from them. If you do, take a photo of the exterior and interior of the car at the beginning of the contract and do likewise when you return the car - I have never had to do this with other companies.

Excellent service and a great selection of cars! The staff are very attentive, listen to the customer’s needs, and are always ready to help with everything. I highly recommend this car rental company!

jeśli chodzi o ludzi 5 stars, pomocni i grzeczni. cena wynajmu zawyżona o około 50% w porównaniu z ceną online. dzień wcześniej 149 pln za dzień (nie zarezerwowałem) . następnego dnia osobiście na lotnisky około 218 pln (bez wcześniejszej rezerwacji więc może dlatego).
Jeżeli cena wam będzie odpowiadać , polecem.

As for the staff, they're 5-star, helpful and polite. The rental price was about 50% higher than the online price. The day before, it was 149 PLN per day (I hadn't booked). The next day, in person, at the airport, it was about 218 PLN (without booking in advance, so maybe that's why). If the price suits you, I'll recommend it.

Never recommend that totally not professional

Be aware of the polish Dirty car fee. This company say YOU need to clean the car before returning if you dont pay a extra fee. They do everything to add extra costs. This i only have in Poland and this is not the only company.Use Hertz its cheeper in the end.

I rent a car from Carfree every month for few days and never had a problem. Really nice and helpful staff, caf always on time and really good prices.

Booker via a compare website and there was no information explaining that they don’t accept American Express. When we arrived they said they don’t accept it and they won’t do anything to help. The only option was to rebook the car for double the price. Absolute joke of a company.

American Express is one of the biggest credit cards and you don’t accept? At least return the money and allow me to purchase the vehicle with a different card??

Scammers.
Poland recognises driving licences from many countries around the world by bilateral agreements. Carfree recognises only those issued in the EU, because they have their internal guideline set like that. Why? Because they want to keep your money but leave you without the car. I was literally left car free. No refund, no car. Yes, they put it to their terms. Actually, it's the only rental company in Poland that officially does not recognise a driving licence issued in the UK. So I call it a scam as that makes no sense. They could as well put in their terms that you need to have a mustache to rent with them - same logic, it's only so they could keep money without having to do the service. Pure gain with no cost.

I am using CarFree most of the time when i travel to Poland Warsaw Chopin and never had any issue when renting a car.

Deeply Disappointing and Uncaring Service

We rented a car at Chopin Airport for a few days. The rental process itself was simple enough, but after completing it, we were merely pointed in the direction of the company’s parking lot — located about half a mile away. No shuttle, no courtesy ride.

The car was clean and well prepared, but returning it was an even more frustrating experience. We were instructed to drop it off at the Modlin Airport parking lot (P3) — in the middle of the night. Finding the exact location where we were supposed to meet the agent took quite some time; the area was poorly lit and badly marked.

When we finally reached the agent by phone, she arrived, took the car, and pointed toward the terminal — faint lights in the distance, about three-quarters of a mile away — and told us to walk there. We are both over 70 years old, one of us has difficulty walking, and we had luggage. She drove off, leaving us to make the long, dark walk on our own. It was raining, we shared an umbrela.

This level of disregard for customers, especially seniors, is unacceptable. You should be ashamed of treating people this way.

Absolute scam. The company bogusly said I crossed a Polish border when I did not and persisted in charging over $1,000 to my card despite multiple staffers assuring me the charges were unreasonable and should be dropped. Wish I had read all the other reviews, do not make the same mistake! These people are complete cheats.

couple of times i have rent a car from the company, always little problems. But last time they have charge me 130zl with out my knowledge. after my call and couple emails they admitted that they had charged the fee incorrectly and decided to refund the amount. Still waiting, [ over a month up to now] they ignoring my emails. BAD avoid please
