I recently had a cracked windscreen…
I recently had a cracked windscreen while holidaying in Australia, so I had to submit a large amount of paperwork to carhire excess for reimbursement.
I was still out of pocket though as the exchange rate went against me as I was charged $6000 by the car hire company on my credit card, so I incurred foreign transaction fees on this amount, when the final bill was realised for the broken windscreen I was then refunded just over $4000 again subject to transaction fees.
These weren’t refunded so a £850 repair cost me £1000 in total of which car hire excess refunded me the £850.
If this happens to me again I think it is important to use a card that has very low foreign exchange fees such as Pre loaded travel cards like Revolute and make sure you have pre loaded with the required money if you were to have a mishap with your hire car.

Friendly phone support - but didn't "need" the insurance yet
No issues so far but also didn't "need" them so far. But what I heard from friends, they work fine.
But what I can say is that the phone support is very friendly and helpful.

Quick and easy
It was very easy and quick to book. I used this company last year too and, when I had a minor scrape with another car I had to make a claim. It was really straightforward and they paid out quite quickly. Definitely worth doing!
