** UPDATE**
I have now spoken to the customer as it wasn’t actually a Carlins Cabs vehicle that took this customer, however I have explained that the fares are not set by us and are set by the council.
The customer was dropped off around 21:40 which is still after 20:00, the rate changes to tariff 2 at 20:00 in the Newark and Sherwood district. The customer was stating prices they pay in there local area to which I have stated that fares are different in every council area across the uk.
There was a bit of a delay on the phone with this customer so at one point they thought I wasn’t letting the customer speak as someone in the background interrupted however when I did start talking to this customer there was no voice at the other end initially.
I will send this customer the Newark and Sherwood tariff card so that they can see for themselves the rates set out by the council
Once again this was not my actual customer as I’m not currently at work due to family bereavement however I have still tried to remedy the problem.

This wasn’t actually me personally as I haven’t been working today so have had my phone on divert to another taxi in newark on Trent
However if the journey was before 20:00 then it should of been around £15-16 and if it was after 20:00 then it’s time and a half so would of been £22.50- £24 also all of Sunday is 1.5x also
The rates are Hackney carriage rates set by the council
It roughly works out at £1.90 per mile plus £3.90 for the day rate and 1.5x after 8pm and is the same rates set across all Hackney carriage vehicles within the newark and Sherwood district.
I am disappointed in the review as it wasn’t myself personally involved and as a company to ensure that customers can still get a service when I’m not available I divert to a driver that I can trust to actually turn up as there are numerous companies within newark that don’t actually provide a reliable service.
I can assure you that we do offer a great service and run on metered fares set by council.
