Misleading booking and unjustified charges via CarTrawler

I booked a car through cars.wizzair.com, later discovering the booking was handled by CarTrawler.
During the booking, there was no option to declare travel outside Poland. Only at the desk was I told that traveling to Slovakia would require an extra 380€, while the entire rental price was only 185€. This last minute, disproportionate fee was never transparently disclosed.
The agent suggested cancelling with a “symbolic” fee, yet the booking was later marked as a full no show, and the payment was kept. On top of that, an additional 42€ was charged later to a different credit card, without explanation.
Poor transparency, poor service. I strongly recommend avoiding car rentals via Wizz Air / CarTrawler.

This is a classic bait-and-switch operation.

I booked a rental car through Wizz Air Cars at a quoted price and deliberately selected the most expensive and comprehensive insurance package offered, which was advertised as being provided by AXA. The rental itself was handled via CarTrawler.

Despite this, at the pickup location I was forced to pay an additional €3,600, which was not clearly or transparently disclosed during the booking process. Refusing to pay meant losing the car entirely. That is not a choice — that is coercion.

What makes this especially unacceptable is that I had explicitly paid for the highest level of insurance to avoid exactly this situation. Afterwards, customer support was ineffective. I was sent back and forth between Wizz Air, CarTrawler and the rental company, with each party denying responsibility.

This platform promotes “full” or “premium” insurance that clearly does not protect customers in practice. Prices shown during booking do not reflect real-world costs, and support is essentially absent when problems arise.

I strongly advise avoiding Wizz Air Cars unless you are prepared for extreme unexpected charges, forced payments and complete lack of accountability.

As close to a SCAM as it can be

As close to a SCAM as it can be. They offer the worst operators at incredibly low prices. The operator later rejects the reservation and simply lose the money, with no proof of anything. Avoid this company by all means.

I took the 17:30 flight with Wizz Air…

I took the 17:30 flight with Wizz Air from Budapest to Paris on the 18th of August.
At the luggage size check, a very young employee of Golden Air Handling was verifying the luggage size with a gauge rack.
My small suitcase fitted in except for the wheels which made the whole luggage a bit oversize. The Golden Air employee was adamant about the 70€ fine for oversize luggage. I told him I had used the same luggage on Wizz Air 2 months ago without ANY issue. Being a Golden Air employee, he didn't care. I ended up paying for a fine which was 2-3 times the value of the mini-suitcase. Note that my wife and son had a backpack that would probably never had fit in the luggage jauge but were not asked to check.

Conclusion : never fly with Wizz Air, or use a back pack !

Car rental through WIZZ air Fiumincino Airport Rome June 11

Fiumincino Airport Rome June 11, 2025 There was no indication on the Wizz Air site where the car was rented that you had to take a shuttle quite far from the airport to get to the car. It was in tiny print at the very end of a very long contract. Finding the place where the shuttle arrived was unclear, waited almost an hour for the shuttle, the shuttle had almost no room for luggage, it was super hot where the wait happened, it added 2 hours to the arrival, plane was on time, waiting for the shuttle to the car added 2 hours, there were many extra expenses once the you arrived at the car rental location so what was considered cheaper initially was not. You just end up paying it since you are so desperate to get out of there. I would never rent a car from them again and I strongly recommend to the others the same.

They have other EXTRA Terms and Conditions when picking up the car!

I booked in Romania, I thought 3.8E per day was too good to be true so I said let's do it, let's see what's the catch!+ I paid more 2E insurance per day because it looked cheap..BUT:
What I didn't liked is:
1. The 1800E deposit (too much)
2. The fact that they cannot accept only CREDIT cards
3. Another 1800E available which are NOWHERE in the contract (or terms)! I was just told that when I got to SurPrice office. And of course was not prepared. My credit card limit was 2500E so there was no way to have available 1800E after blocking 1800E.
4. The "casco" insurance they offer is 35 Euros per day... Again NOWHERE written in the contract. That was my only way to rent the car since I couldn't provide credit card with sufficient funds.. so the 2E per day insurance became obsolete but I couldn't recover it.. so it was in the end: car rental price3.8 +2E per day insurance+35E per day insurance..
5. Another thing that IT ISN'T in the contract is damages payment. How much u pay per small/big scratch, windshield replacement, etc. I was shocked when the guy showed me the table and said: because of cheap price of rental we have VERY SMALL TOLERANCE to DEFECTS... (so here's the catch...)
6. The car had minimum options. No tempomat, no sun visor that extends, Bluetooth for any iPhone was not working, no navigation... etc
7. The windshield wiper motor was NOT WORKING. I bought windshield liquid but was full. so motor was broken, dangerous for almost rainy situations! Not worth to call surprice since I was 200km away....
8 . The foot rag was sliding under the accelerator, again dangerous... must be fixed..
9. And the SurPrice... what name is that? It's not the smartest move since it means: "we charge you more", and also "surprize"... that already sounds like a red flag.
10. During completing the renting papers, another guy called because his car broken.. I have to consider myself happy because my car lasted..

Anyway, I was sure there is a catch for the cheap price of renting a car, I was expecting to pay more in some way, in which I did, I paid insurance that costs more than renting with my usual car rental company + SCDW. From now on I will rent only with them or real car rental companies, no more brokers or through flight companies.
What I liked tho is:
1. The promptitude of the employee and the informations he gave
2. The fact that I got a better car (but that can happen almost to any car rental company)
3. The handover process
4. No mileage limit...

NEVER RENT A CAR THROUGH WIZZ

NEVER RENT A CAR THROUGH WIZZ / CarThrawler. I made a mistake of renting it, after showing up on the car rental desk it turned out I need a credit card at that particular company, which I didn’t have with me. The rental company was ok to cancel, but carthrawler told me it’s impossible – I reached out to them 2 minutes after pick up time as my plane was a bit late. Result = full rental amount lost.

A company that will cancel your flight and not provide assured compensation

As a frequent traveler who has experienced countless flights with various airlines, I feel compelled to share my recent nightmarish encounter with Wizz Air. This scathing review serves as a warning to fellow travelers who value their time, money, and overall peace of mind. Brace yourself for a tale of incompetence, broken promises, and an utter lack of customer care.

Let's begin with the initial offense: the cancellation of our flight without any plausible reason. We got an email the morning of our departure so we rushed to the airport to get some clarity only to be informed that your flight has been abruptly scrapped. Shockingly, Wizz Air failed to provide any legitimate explanation for this cancellation, leaving passengers bewildered and stranded without any clue as to what transpired behind the scenes. Additionally, they didn't have an option for both me and my partner to fly out until 3 days later which wouldn't work because of our work schedules.

In a desperate bid for assistance, I reached out to Wizz Air's customer service while at the Palma airport. Little did I know that I was about to embark on an infuriating journey of unhelpful agents and contradictory statements. Despite assuring us that we would be reimbursed if we chose to book an alternative flight outside their company, this turned out to be nothing more than a hollow promise. They had no intention of honoring their commitment, leaving us in a state of financial uncertainty and deep disappointment.

Refusing to give up, we sought professional help from an external company, hoping they could navigate the treacherous waters of Wizz Air's reimbursement process. Unfortunately, this only added insult to injury. Nine long and arduous months later, we are still fighting for the reimbursement we rightfully deserve. It is inconceivable that an airline, claiming to value its customers, could display such a blatant disregard for their responsibilities.

Wizz Air's inability to provide a backup flight for three days highlights their lack of contingency planning and their disregard for the inconvenience caused to their passengers. Furthermore, their callousness in denying our rightful claim and subsequent inability to fulfill their obligations demonstrates a disturbing level of unprofessionalism and an alarming lack of transparency.

Traveling should be an enjoyable and stress-free experience, yet Wizz Air has turned it into a nightmare. Their cancellation without reason, broken promises, and refusal to reimburse the amount we paid for an alternative flight have left us feeling betrayed and disillusioned. It is my sincere hope that this review will serve as a cautionary tale to potential passengers considering Wizz Air, urging them to explore alternative options and spare themselves the agony we endured.

In conclusion, I strongly advise against choosing Wizz Air for your travel needs. Their lack of accountability, unreliable service, and poor customer care make them an airline that should be avoided at all costs. Spare yourself the headaches and frustrations that come with dealing with this unscrupulous company.

read there terms first

read there terms first, the seat comfortable was accepted, its totally budget airline so they will try to take more money if you did mistakes.

the problem is their call center, very slow response 30 mins waiting in international call, it cost me more than the ticket price.

i didn't face any issues. but my friend his flight get canceled he was with his kids, the problem here this airline only will refund your money and you have to figure out how to go back, so if you have flight to catch or importing meeting i don't recommend you to travel on it.

always my advice if your travelling with them to have two separate hotel booking , so incase your flight canceled you have time to cancel your second booking without losing your full money.

again read there terms so you don't end paying extra

Wizzair crawled out of paying compensation

Wizzair have just crawled out of paying compensation using a technicality regarding a 31/2hour delay. According to EU legislation if the delay is more than three hours and the fault of the company etc. etc. they should pay. The pilot actually said that there was a fault in the plane which belongs to Wizzair. JUST A WARNING. DO NOT EXPECT A DECENT SERVICE FROM WIZZAIR.

Rip off, no help, instant cancel, no compassion

Rip off, no help when trying to cancel/change dates due to my broken knee and not being able to take holiday.
Refunded me £0.00.
No compassion, just straight away cancelled flights.
I booked through Opodo (Big mistake there, their review is coming after this one)
Been trying to change flights with easyjet who a week on have still not got back to me, yet i sent all medical proof to them and asked them to credit or voucher so i can book later in the year when knee is fixed (Their review coming shortly too)

LESSON Learned, do not use opodo and do not use wizzair.com
