do not trust this man, cost us thousands

Tom was an absolute charlatan and caused a great deal of headache as he failed to file basic self-assessment accountsl leading to multiple penalties from HMRC. The worst part of it all was he became highly unreachable, had a complete lack of insight into the problems he created, and overall was just a terrible experience. I left him back in 2023. I’ve heard multiple clients are leaving, which serves him right, as he’s clearly been causing chaos to all those who have had the misfortune of working with him. As the other reviewer said, best he goes back to milking cows.

I had a similar experience with Tom Baker of Certax Teesside. 7 months to submit a basic tax return to HMRC and I ended up doing it myself anyway as I was losing sleep over the daily penalties! Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. A total of £980 of fines from HMRC which fortunately was written-off due to Tom's conduct. I knew he was operating under the Certax franchise but it certainly doesn't look good for Certax as a national company. He started trading under 'TB Accountancy' when he left Certax. (that's another story) but I don't think even that business is trading now. Hopefully he's realised how bad he is as an Accountant and gone back to milking cows with the Romanians! (yet another story)

Had an awful experience with this company. The first thing to realise that this is a franchise and takes no responsibility for its franchisees. I had one called Tom Baker who is now longer with them maybe due to my complaint but I've just had to pay fines for this lack of filing of my accounts for corporation tax for several years. It came to my notice when he was late for filing my accounts on companies house, and i got a £375 fine for these. Now i've just had to pay £1312 for fines from HMRC.

You think you are paying for a profession body but they are just an advisory body for accountants and if you run in trouble they don't want to know. End of!
