Could not have wished for a better service

I am so happy that I chose Chards to sell a property on my behalf. Freya and Hannah were absolutely brilliant in their unwavering support and professionalism. I cannot recommend Chards more highly. Throughout the long drawn out process of selling, they were there for me every step of the way

Very poorly managed process

Very poorly managed process. Lots of pressure from the agent to engage the solicitors early on meaning I spent £4k on solicitors and valuation fees. The seller then pulled out at the last minute.

Do not buy through this agent.

I am a landlord and rented my…

I am a landlord and rented my properties with Chard this year. One flat was rented on 27.9 and still 15 days later they haven't been able to pay the tenant's deposit. We called / emailed Jon, Chard Fulham branch director many times without much success to resolve this. Chard operations are simply a total mess - noo one knows what's going on and no one seems responsible. Also they charged us twice for check in / out service despite being told we would be charged only once by the agent which also confirmed on WhatsApp and Jon admitted they made a mistake but is unwilling to refund.

Many great experiences! This time our agent was Peter!

I’ve had many good experiences as a tenant with the Property Management Team at Chard and this time I had the pleasure of working with Peter Boguszewicz. Even though he was assigned the flat after another persons great management, he brought even more professionalism and can-do attitude. Not only can he get something sorted very quickly, efficiently and done in a day, he will complete that task in full plus more. He thinks of every possible challenge along the way and manages your expectations but also manages those potential issues so that they don’t become bigger issues. He’s ahead of everything, organised, and incredibly likeable and friendly. He approaches you with respect and like you’ve been friends for ages. This makes him very personable which isn’t something you can teach. This positive approach to issues, his solution-focussed, upbeat, can-do attitude and genuine, kind, laid-back, but concerned demeanour makes everything so much easier. You can have a laugh with him while getting things sorted which is a rare skill, a natural trait and makes every phone call a pleasure because on top of all of this, you’ll be spoken to with respect and ease. Thanks for all your help Peter!!

Stay away!

Stay away from this agency as much as possible - and from the property in Mickelthwaite Road they manage as well.

The conduct of the agency during our rent was at the limit of being legal. We found the house in a complete mess when we moved in. There were still major works underway. The bathroom was not in working condition and for two tenants with only one shared bathroom that was a real problem. We found the WC not attached to the wall of the bathroom, in fact it was left in the middle of the corridor. There was mould in the walls and tools everywhere left by the builders. Under these conditions, we had to postpone our move in and were left with no accommodation for one week. A complete nightmare!

We had to fight to get our rights respected throughout the tenancy. The responsiveness of the agency to problems related to the house was extremely slow and gave us the impression that they did not know how to do their job. Information was lost every time we had to speak to a new agent, again impacting the efficiency of the management and delaying actions.

Towards the end of our tenancy, the agency started booking viewings without providing sufficient notice, violating contractual and legal terms. What is more, the landlords tried to lucrate on our deposit by commissioning to us work that fell under the category of “normal wear and tear” of the house. In the end, we managed to win the dispute placed on our deposit but cannot easily forget the nightmare we lived during 2 years of rent with Chards.

Please, stay away!

Be Careful As A Tenant

Had a viewing, the agent was great. We wanted to offer.

When I called the office, we tried to make an offer, but were told we needed to authorise them to take the holding deposit automatically if our offer was accepted.

Effectively this stopped us from viewing any other properties until the process was complete. Their rationale was that it protects the landlord, but we were told the landlord already had a number of offers.

I explained we couldn’t do that and they refused to put an offer forward; we ended up going around in circles for 20 mins, where some pretty outlandish claims were made (“we should feel happy that they’re not charging us fees” - these are illegal, not a selling point…) before we were told they -could- put an offer in without the authorisation, but would mark it differently to the others, the force of which would be that our offer wouldn’t be really considered.

We might have been the best offer on the table, the landlord will, sadly, never know. We have found a new property (which is better) with their competitor from across the street, who didn’t have these crazy terms.

We moved into our apartment about 2 months ago, which is managed by Chard. Martina has been so helpful - from the initial communications where she was so kind and welcoming to helping us promptly with all the services we needed to help us settle in. We are very grateful.

A great team

A great team, very conscientious especially Shakira who is in general very proactive and attentive. We had a very uncomfortable situation in our flat. Kieran was really on hand and great at researching and advising on what could be done. He understood our situation and showed great empathy and willingness to help us find a solution very quickly. We felt we could therefore trust him and share all details which helped. He was then really quick to respond to us, took great initiative and in the end the problem was solved.

BEWARE

BEWARE - Do not use this company as a Tennant or landlord if the property is managed by Chards in house team. In 13 years rental in London never have I experienced such a sham of a company. Property managers are beyond negligent. Upon leaving the property the inventory check out was tampered with. Things were removed from the property and then documented as if it was found without them. Despite me complaining and demanding an explanation, luckily I FILMED PROOF the day I left they won't acknowledge that whomever had access to the property or the company they employ to check tenants out are bias. We've just left a property after two years were prepared to sign another two but due to the lack of organisation and communication with the landlord, which all could of been avoided if the company was competent. The most worrying thing is from a tenants perspective, they are not there to protect you, using bias companies to check you out or having untrustworthy staff coming to steal contents once you have vacated. Our property was left in a better condition that moving in two years previous, they could find nothing to deduct from the deposit despite there faulty checkout report because I had the proof yet somehow can manage to find £20 cost for a 'drip stain' on the wall that was obviously tea where had been a bedside table - joke of a company!! STEER CLEAR from Chard!!!! Pay the extra fee''s go to trustworthy companies that are city wide because they are good at what they do and the moral of the story... GO TO YOUR CHECK OUT!
