Not impressed as a candidate

Applied for a job and was directed to their website to apply. Provided a CV and Supporting Statement all good, then heard nothing.

Emailed them to inquire and was told I hadn't got through to the next stage. That in itself is fine, it's a competitive process, but wouldn't it be nice to know?

If you are not going to contact unsuccessful candidates back then at least make that clear on the application screen when people hit the submit button, otherwise it just looks a bit heartless on your part, When did recruitment become so impersonal and dehumanising?
