Carlos and team lived up to their many great online reviews. The process was well-explained, slick and professional and we received our stamp duty refund well within the time that we'd been told to expect. The amount quoted in the company's initial approach letter to us as an average refund for the price that we paid for our property I'd say was very optimistic, but nonetheless we were very pleased with the amount we recovered.

Like many of the other reviews I was sceptical that this was not a scam. I followed the very simple process and had the video call to view around our property to determine the fixtures and fittings that were relevant to the claim. After supplying some general information my claim was submitted to HMRC - a few weeks later I was being asked to provide my bank details to receive the $1,400 refund. I was asked to provide via WhatsApp, so again I questioned this. Checking on Companies house all looked in order with their records, so I went ahead. Almost immediately, my refund amount was in my bank account :) I have received these letters for previous moves so should have followed up. Very happy that we were able to claw back some of the stamp duty costs and would definitely recommend.

This is a scam. Unsolicited "you've overpaid stamp duty" letter — be careful. SDLT is self-assessed, so you're liable, not them. HMRC pays first, checks later: if the claim fails you repay the lot plus interest and penalties, after they've taken their cut. If you really think you overpaid, amend your own return with HMRC free within 12 months. No agent needed.

After some initial doubts, after receiving a letter from Stamptax offering to obtain a refund of Stamp Duty, I took up their offer and found the process to be easy to follow and the resulting refund was paid very quickly. The only work involved is obtains all the required documentation from your solicitor.

Like many, I was somewhat sceptical to start with, but the team were very professional and clear with the terms of engagement and likely outcome. Communication was at the right level, always on hand but not overburdening you with questions or updates. Process was seamless and require minimal input - just the standard docs you receive during the conveyancing process. The fees were fair at 30% (accounting for VAT), and as I probably wouldn't have "gotten around to it" without them so I felt like this was a bonus that we shared fairly. All in all I would highly recommend the team.
