91 year old let down by Chaucer

Disgusting service from this company. Avoid at all costs. Tree fell on my Dad's shed in November.. They still haven't resolved a pay out even though their own assessor returned his report over a month ago... Now claiming that they didn't realise that we asked for an assessor (even though it was them that sent him). They have left a 91 year old widower with a tree on his shed with electrical power connected for nearly 5 months now. Absolute farce of a company.

Non personal, slow and don’t seem to care

This company does not seem to care about individual claims. Communication is extremely poor.
I was due £600 GBP and it took them 6 months to eventually deposit it in my account (over seas) I 100% would not recommend this company

Terrible service from both Lonham and Chaucer Insurance

Terrible service from both Lonham and Chaucer Insurance related to cargo insurance on my shipping consignments from London to New Zealand. Both insurance companies are related and have ignored my two Warranty Claims, and deny receiving them despite my formal filings. Lonham Insurance Claims process and emails do not work, and the Chaucer Insurance investigations do not follow proper process. Do not bother taking out insurance with Lonham or Chaucer. It is not worth it, as they will never settle any claim.

Do not use this company …

I took out travel insurance with this company - last year, 16th October for a short break abroad. While on our break, there was a baggage handler strike, meaning we weren't able to get home, as the airport were shut, so we had to stay another night, before making our own way home the following day. I tried to make a claim for additional expenses incurred. This company are terrible to deal with. It has taken exactly a year to reach a conclusion on my claim, and this only happened after I involved the Ombudsman. This company could do with massively improving their customer service, which at best is abysmal, they need to return calls, reply to emails and give some sort of customer care. I would recommend you avoid them at all costs.

I had house and contents policy with…

I had house and contents policy with this absolutely shocking company. It was under an umbrella of a version of Regent Paragon or Regent Noble, I'm not 100% convinced they are connected.
However, I was advised by my water co that I had a leak. I let them know last August. I was losing 9l ph by the time they gave me access to the leak I was losing 33l ph. They have a management company deal with their repairs etc. They are called Davies Management Group, who happen to be the most shockingly bad people to deal with. Cut a long story short they dug up my kitchen floor up in March and I'm still waiting for the work to proceed. I have multiple awards of compensation from Davies Management and the Financial Ombudsman. We made an agreement 3 weeks ago they would pay me everything they owed me from the compensation awards + outstanding electricity cost for de-humidifcation + the cost of my plumber to trace and access. To date I've received nothing and can't proceed.
I would say when taking out this kind of insurance check if the ins com farms out there work to Davies Management, AVOID at all costs!! I suggested to the broker I used Thamesbank Insurance, they perhaps should not recommend them, but I feel them may have a connection. On renewal last November Chaucer/Paragon declined to take my policy on, and Thamesbank looked for another provider at a greater cost. I couldn't leave this broker as I felt they had not been supportive at all. When I got desperate and enquired about my legal cover with the policy, they advised there may be a conflict of interest!!

Shocking service....Pick up your phone!!!

Shocking service...I was involved in a hit and run with your client and no one is getting back to me. 3 weeks of phoning on a daily, on hold for over 2 hours at a time. AND if I get through it's just to be told we will follow up and get back to you. My car is sitting collecting dust and I am losing out on money due to your incompetence.
I will be getting the Ombudsman involved!

Absolutely useless company that has…

Absolutely useless company that has conned me out of a monthly payment for the last 14 years. As soon as I had a problem caused by storm damage they are uncontactable by either phone or email. Do not use this company under any circumstance and please advise others to steer clear. My roof has substantial damage and needs urgent attention which according to my policy is covered.

Total Loss

I unexpectedly received a cheque (not market value ) from this company for the total loss of my vehicle following an incident involving a driver insured by them. My insurance company had already assured me my vehicle was being repaired and at no point had an offer been made to me or had I accepted one. I then received a phone call from Chaucer and was told that I was no longer entitled to my hire car and would have to cover the costs of this myself if I wanted to keep it as they had sent me a cheque (which I had not cashed), they also informed me that they would not be covering the repair costs of my vehicle, again the reason being that they had sent me a cheque for total loss.
I re-confirmed with my insurance company that my vehicle was being repaired and that I was still entitled to my hire car and was assured by them that I would not be liable for any costs. I found it interesting that Chaucer employed such tactics in putting pressure on me for no other reason that I can identify but to reduce their costs in regards to my claim. Operating like this is manipulative and underhand and unfortunately there are people who would feel pressured to just accept what they were being told at face value. I will await with interest the outcome of my claim but can say with assurance that if these are the tactics used by this company I will certainly not be giving them my business.
