I got scammed like everyone else. Paid for 1 report got charged a few days later for a premium subscription I did not subscribe for. Now I am worried I gave them more of my details when trying to claim my money back. Avoid.

I fell for the same, bought a one off check and 39.90 gone the next month, why can’t people just be clear and honest!

Looks like I've been scammed to! Woke up this morning to check my bank account and there it was £ 39 .00 taken from my account! Very angry! Been trying to contact them but no reply will no have to take it further!

I did a 1 time check, then 2 days later I was charged £39.99 for a subscription that I was not aware off, i called before payment was taken but was.told i cannot stop the payment or request a refund... complete scam

Like everyone else, I thought I was buying a one-off report with no clear indication of the monthly fee.
They have tried to take money but the bank stopped it in time and I have had to replace all cards because they deem it a scam operation. Worst service I can think of trying to deal with them. Avoid at all costs.

Scam company – avoid them completely!
I’ve just experienced the same scam as everyone else. They took £39 from my account even though I never signed up for any subscription, and they didn’t even send me any email confirmation to show I had joined anything. Nothing at all.
I called their customer service, and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude and didn’t try to help in any way.
The whole thing feels fake and dishonest

Con of a company, spoke to them on the phone twice, and on the latter of the occasional was told it would be passed to there refund team and I would receive a call in 2 working days, still not had anything and when I call them I get fobbed off.

Reply from Checkmycar
they don't make it clear that you get £39 charges every month and make it hard for you to cancel. I managed to get a full refund if both payments you got to really hammer them to get them to refund you too..

I have exactly the same just this morning, trying to take my money £39.90. So thanks for the inconvenience i now have to wait for a new card.. but thank you so much to my bank for allerting me of this scam

Reply from Checkmycar
Scammers, do not touch these.
If I could have scored these 0 I would have.
Had a search done on a car £5.95 one day later they are trying to take £39.90 from my bank, if it wasn't for the bank stopping it I would have lost that.

Absolute fraud of a company! Stay clear. Steal money from your account.

Worst experience ever.
I was checking a car and I paid for it apparently after 48 hours they make a subscription for you and use your card you paid for one report without even notifying you that it is a trail period.Very clever way to scam people

SCAMMERS - my partner fell for the same, they claim they claim the T&C's are in plain sight, clearly not with the number of people who fall for this. They said they would not offer a refund for the 3 months they had taken. She cancelled asked them to cancel the subscription, which they confirmed would happen but looking on here some have not and further payments have been taken.
The website is administered by Godaddy according to WHOIS or maybe a redirect, maybe send a complaint to them as their terms and conditions are quite strict. The Financial Ombudsman in Dublin, Trading Standards and Visa & Mastercard who's logos are on the website i wonder if they want to be associated, if they saw all these complaints.
Your standard reply is a waste of time. so i copied and pasted it so you don't have to waste my time

I have fallen in their trap as well, like thousands of us.
After reading all user's comment, Why is this business and website up and runing ? Why are banks still authorising it using their services. Why DVLA is selling our informaiton to them? Why Police and trading standards are not investigating its activity. Why the police are not investigating this ?

I had an issue with my car log book. Just a small one, so I decided to get a car check like I've done when buying cars. I know the score; pay roughly £5 and get a basic check of your car. I've done it before.
Two days later, I had a payment of £39.90 leave my account. Turns out it's a subscription service. A subscription service for a car check? Who is checking their car monthly? I signed out of my account and went in as a guest. It DOES say that it's a subscription service, right at the bottom, in very light text. For a service that people like me have used as one offs before with other companies.
I got my money back because the company didn't respond to me. The email address I entered to chat wasn't recognised. Funny though, they recognised it when I needed a password reset.
FOR PEOPLE TRYING TO GET THEIR MONEY BACK - here's what I said to my bank -
" I requested a service of £5.95 to check details on my car. Two days later, I had a transaction of £39.90 come out of my bank account. Upon looking closer, this is for a monthly transaction subscription. At the time of the initial purchase, it was very unclear that this was a trial period leading to a subscription. Also it would have simply been impossible to cancel as the website claims to not have my email on record - despite the fact that they successfully completed a reset password request. I never received any emails confirming either my initial purchase or that a trial period was about to begin.
The merchant I feel used misleading and deceptive practises to charge me, the subscription was not clearly disclosed at the time of purchase and the terms were unclear. I did not authorise a subscription. The company themselves have not gotten back to me, either via email or their online form.
Please treat this a disputed transaction and please cancel any recurring payments, as they are not responding even to a subscription cancellation."
PEOPLE - when disputing with your bank, use words like "unauthorised subscription" "misleading" "deceptive practises" "unclear". My bank couldn't have been quicker or more helpful.
Two more things - I think I clicked a sponsored link on Google, so they have something to answer for. Net neutrality is being eroded.
Secondly - and humorously - I see there's a rep from the company answering all of these complaints. Hello! Really odd that such a unscrupulous company has some poor person answer all these.

They are scammers, similar story with me of 5.95 for a car check followed by £39.90 taken without consent 3 days later.

I paid to get a one time report on a vehicle for £5.95 and nine days later a further £39.90 was deducted from my account. I will be contacting trading standards regarding this because it’s evident to see that a lot of people have got caught by doing this and this is extremely unfair, DO NOT USE, TOTAL SCAM>>>

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I paid to get a one time report on a vehicle for £5.95 and nine days later a further £39.90 was deducted from my account. I called the company and they told me I took a subscription out which I did not. I will be contacting trading standards regarding this because it’s evident to see that a lot of people have got caught by doing this and this is extremely unfair

Like every one else on this company was not made clear it was 48 hour free trial. I am not a trader so why would I want to pay subscription, totally dishonest company should be dealt with by trading standards. I only saw the transaction today so paid £200 plus the £5.95 for original check. Called them and they are so brazen, basically ripped me off, RIP OFF BRITTIAN HERE WE COME

Reply from Checkmycar
Absolute Scam, paid for one time check then 48hours later paid for a monthly subscription, what’s not surprising is there is no way to manage your subscription on the site.
