A course that changed how I cook, taste, and plate
Like many people, I first discovered Chef Majk through his YouTube videos. I was immediately struck by the beauty and precision of his plating—and by his charismatic, high-energy presence. After procrastinating for nearly a year, I finally reached out to apply for his course, hoping to improve my plating skills and learn how to bring complex dishes together so everything lands warm and properly timed.
What I received was far more comprehensive.
This course is not about recipes. It is about components and systems--the building blocks and architecture of cooking itself.
Stocks, purées, sauces, herbal oils, chips, vegetable preparations, meat cookery, cold starters, desserts—each element is taught as a building block. Chef Majk shows you how to construct and vary these components infinitely. The result is not memorization but fluency.
The course is valuable for both professional chefs and dedicated home cooks. I also learned a great deal from the other students—many of whom were chefs from around the world— through their questions, their mistakes, and the artistry evident in their platings.
It is deeply rewarding to look back at photos from the first module (hideous, in retrospect), when the feedback was, “That’s not plating—that’s just putting food on a plate,” and compare them to my final modules, when a friend said, “That’s not just plating—that’s a work of art.”
Over the months, my palate developed alongside my technical skills and confidence. His feedback is direct—sometimes blunt—but never shaming. It's clear and concrete, and always aimed at raising your awareness and helping you improve. I made a conscious decision to fully commit to the process and to let go of my perfectionism and the need to look good. I treated every piece of feedback as a gift—data to absorb and apply. I also invested more than the bare minimum of time and effort — often re-plating my ingredients after the feedback sessions.Those two commitments significantly accelerated my progress.
Chef Majk is also incredibly generous and fast with his responses to questions or a photo of a problem.
I’ve dined at several fine dining restaurants since completing the course and found myself recognizing techniques and components we mastered: parsnip purée, pork tenderloin medallions cooked to exact doneness, green oils, strawberry gel, quenelles, swipes, precision dots. Instead of mere admiration, I now understand the structure behind the plate—and I have the skills to execute these elements myself to the same standard.
There are many excellent chefs. Far fewer have the additional skill—and generosity—to design a curriculum this well-structured and to transmit their knowledge so effectively.
This is a long review because it feels like the least I can do in appreciation. The course fundamentally changed how I cook, how I taste, how I plate, and how I think about food. It deepened my understanding that flavour and visual composition are inseparable —and raised my game in both.
Chef Majk is living in his genius--and I am grateful to have been one of the beneficiaries! If you will truly invest yourself, I cannot recommend the course highly enough.
Came for the plating but learned lots more
I got interested in Majks course because I wanted to plate food better, but I learned so much more than just how to put food on a plate and make it beautiful.
In a very pedagogical way Majk taught the basics in a more refined way, exposed me for techniques and dishes I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, made me think about components and how to combine them in a new way. And of course how to plate it all so it looks nice.
I walk away knowing a lot more on how to cook, I have a framework to use when creating beautiful dishes and a whole new confidence in the kitchen. Majks feedback have been invaluable. Now I can actually be creative when cooking!
Or as my wife put it yesterday: you were a really good cook before, but comparing your stuff from then with now is like night and day.

Great course to learn plating and fine dining
I've been cooking seriously for about four years now, but have been stuck for the past year in my cooking. One thing I struggled with a lot with before was not having feedback from a real chef. I was trying to just get feedback from friends, and my cooking quickly be came stuck. Having the personalized feedback each week was extremely helpful.
The only way I knew how to improve before was copying recipes online, maybe tweaking it a bit myself, and then doing that over and over. Eventually, I stagnated because you can only get so far by imitating other people. Having the course teach fundamentals with feedback from someone who knows what they're doing was great, especially when it came to plating. And having a system in place for learning gave me much more confidence in creating my own dishes.
Like most things worth doing though, this course requires work. It wasn't until more than ~20 plates in that I started to "get it" a bit, another ~20 plates before I started getting consistent, and then the last month or so it clicked. Throughout the course I made 60 plates in total, an average of 5 per week. Your results will hopefully be faster than mine, but don't expect to just come in and magically leave with beautiful plates without effort. It was really frustrating at first to make so many ugly plates, but I'm so glad I stuck through and kept going.
If you're stuck in rut in your cooking and you're tired of just finding new recipes to copy online, I think this course is a great way to push yourself out of your comfort zone a bit and see some real progress. Would definitely take again.
Great course to elevate your cooking skills to a professional level
The personal contact and the honest and professional feedback helped me understand the concept of fine dining. With the video tutorials I learned many techniques I didn't know before and my ability to coordinate my work in the kitchen improved a lot. Also it was fun and challenging at the same time.
Mastering techniques
Being a professional Chef with a lot of work sometimes could put us in a position that we don't have so much time lo try different things or we find ourselves stuck in some kind of crossroad creative wise.
I'm Chef Carlos and I decided to participate in this course with Chef Majk in order to get more techniques, see different perspectives, master my plating and ingredients positioning and also very important get some advices, constructive and positive critique.
Regarding the course I can say without any doubt that it was worth it, I learn some new techniques and ideas in order to build my menus with a different approach, more and more focused on technique and flavour with a nice and beautiful ingredient positioning.

I greatly improved my culinary and plating skills with Chef Majk and Creative Fine Dining. I have been an avid home cook for decades and have taken culinary courses at home and whenever I travel. Yet, I learned more about fine dining and plating with Chef Majk than ever before. He carefully explained the techniques to prepare each dish and their 5 to 6 components. I especially appreciated that in each module he explained how substituting certain herbs and spices would yield seemingly endless options. Passion for Excellence
Cooking has always been a great passion of mine, although no one exactly taught me how to do it. As a result, I was trying new things but somehow always ended up cooking the same dishes with the same flavours, texture, etc.
The 3-month course with Chef Majk was indeed more than I expected. He kept all he promised, from quick reactions, constructive feedback, and most of all cooking and plating techniques that you will benefit from for the rest of your life.
And that truly is the best part since once you accomplished this training, not only will you be able to cook the amazing recepies from his lessons, but foremost be able to create unlimited variations due to the skills that you learned throughout the sessions.
However, be prepared: this course is no easy task and requires a lot of dedication and time investment. It entails frustrating moments where you think that you will not manage to get the dishes right. But if you put your heard in it, you will see your progress over time so that in the end you can be really proud of yourself and your accomplishments - that was at least my personal journey.

I signed up for the 12 week course. There is a ton of information packed into this. You'll learn a ton of flexibility in cooking and it definitely opened up my eyes to what is possible. It even turned my regular meals just a little better when i have the time.
The real value of this course is the weekly calls though, understanding what to focus on and improve was super valuable and now I have enough that i feel confident enough to go on my own and keep improving.
It's definitely a time commitment (or at least for me it was), but if you are passionate about learning a life long skill it'll be worth it. I wouldn't think twice about signing up again.

Chef Majk's Personal Coaching
I watched Chef Majk on YouTube for about a year before I decided to reach out for his private coaching. He did a 1-hour consultation for me over Zoom to see if it would be beneficial for me. He asked many direct questions as to my goals, what I wanted to learn, did I have the time to devote to the classes and more. I knew that Chef would be able to advance my skills.
After completing the last class this week, I am so happy that I did this. I was a pretty good home chef, but this brought me about 50+ new ideas, techniques and recipes that I either had never done before or they were skills that I never learned properly. After each lesson, Chef and I would get on a call where he would fully critique my dishes. I looked at the difference in my plating from my first lesson to my last. A huge difference. Over the coming months, I will continue to try and test everything I learned to reinforce the skills. Great opportunity to learn from a very talended chef
in all my spare time I like to cook. Last year I did a professional training in a culinary school in the Netherlands. But that was not enough! I needed more refinement.
I was impressed by the youtube video's of Chef Majck and I applied for the online coaching. I had 12 online sessions with him. I learned a lot about different techniques, taste combinations and all about beautiful plating. Chef Majck was always on time for the meetings and in between available to answer my questions on short notice. I learned different ways to cook meat and fish, tot make purees of different vegetables, a tasteful sauce, different crips, how to use the herbs and finally how to do the plating.
