Ive used choice for over 10+years and like all hire companies the excess charges can be abit high for damage simple answer don5 damage the rental amd its always only a scratch well i had a scartch sorted on my car not big at all but i was charger £190 ane that was with a discount ive had a few issues come up over the yeats and some were dealt with horrendously but most were dealt with amazingly these are my go to car hire and would recommend to anyone and just bare in mind that what was stated is usually a bit one sided and don't dismiss just from the bad reviews alone this is a good company with some amazing staff no company pleases every customer and some of these negative reviews ar3 ridiculous you just know what the person is like we've all deallt with them and most probably deserved 5he attitude they got if I could give them 6 stars I would

Craig and Steve from Choicevehiclerentals Uckfield, were both Incredibly Helpful, Polite, Thorough, Kind, Professional and had upbeat positive attitudes.
Also the lady on the phone from Eastbourne Office was very helpful and patient with my enquiry.
The car I hired was in excellent condition and extremely clean.
The whole process was very last minute for me, and they supplied an EXCELLENT SERVICE.

After turning up early for this hire company. We have hired a 9 seater minibus from these guys for the last 6 years. Damage was caused to the wheel arch. When parked in a disabled bay. In the hotel we was staying at with cctv cameras. We reported it straight away to the insurance company. And sent pictures. To avoid the £1000 excess to reduce it to the £500 we was told. But when we had taken the vehicle back. They told us we would have to pay the £1000 for excess. After we had done everything asked of us. We have had no paper work that we have paid. And nothing back from the insurance company. The did not like me ringing the insurance company either. I will be taking this further as this is not how you do business. I could claim this back through the business. I would also like evidence of works carried out and costing. Do not use this company as they do not help you what so ever.

They are in the dark ages, they were able to take my booking online but when I turned up they insisted on a physical bank card for the deposit which I don't use anymore, everything is done on my phone with Google pay. I then walked down to Strafford Hire who gladly took my deposit via my phone. They refuse to refund my booking even though it's their backwards ways at fault not me. Bunch of crooks!

Absolute bunch of fraudsters.
Hired vans from them on multiple occasions because they're the cheapest in the area, and I guess you get what you pay for... until they rip you off.
Issues I've had with them in descending order:
* The last time I hired with them they charged me £800 (the maximum damage excess) for repairs that were never carried out. I have no problem with paying for damage but I don't expect a hire company to just pocket the money without actually getting the repairs done. They also pressured me into paying the full amount before issuing a receipt for repairs by saying if I paid later there'd be extra charges. Shocking behaviour.
* On another occasion their staff tried to pressure me into driving the van off the forecourt without taking photos of the vehicle, saying they already have a record of existing damage. Luckily I insisted on taking my own photos anyway because after I returned the van they tried to charge me for scratches that were already there but weren't on their paperwork. Good job I had my photos of the van on their forecourt with the pre-existing scratches before I drove it away...
* The vans are in awful condition, on multiple occasions they've had to replace the van I was initially given because it was unsafe to drive out of the forecourt (missing wing mirrors etc).
* One occasion I opened the back of the van after getting home and it was full of soil. Had to spend an hour cleaning it out before I could start loading in.
If you're going to rent from Choice, ALWAYS take photos of the entire vehicle before leaving the forecourt, pay by credit card so you can S75 any fraudulent charges, and take out excess insurance cover so you don't end up out of pocket.

PLEASE READ MY EXPERIENCE BEFORE RENTING A VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY

I rented a vehicle five days ago. I completed all the required online documentation, went to the location, paid my deposit and rental fees. A staff member came out with me, handed me the vehicle key, and asked me to sign four different documents on a small mobile screen—which I did. Everything seemed fine, and I drove off to work.

Five days later, I returned the vehicle to the same location. Another staff member inspected the car and pointed out damage that I genuinely had not noticed at all.
The receptionist made a call to get a price for the damage. She told me that the excess under their policy is £800, and that I would have to pay half—£400. I offered to bring in an independent surveyor to assess the cost, but she said I would still have to pay £400 regardless. I also offered to get the damage repaired myself, but that was not accepted. She insisted the company only uses their own garage and added that the vehicle had been recently painted.

It felt like a setup. I noticed staff inspecting returned vehicles in great detail, inside and out, as if looking for any excuse to charge customers for damage—possibly even damage that was already there. I now suspect they might be using this method regularly to collect money from unsuspecting customers.

My advice: thoroughly inspect any vehicle you hire and document everything before driving off—or better yet, avoid this company altogether.

Crawley branch, Hired a Ford Tourneo for a week’s holiday, booked online. Ready on time, stress free and a lovely vehicle was supplied for our week’s Holiday. All in all I cannot fault the service or the vehicle supplied would definitely use again.

I hired a vehicle transporter on Mon 24th Feb to collect a Citroen C1. I was greeted by two very friendly chaps who were professional, warm and welcoming.

They confirmed my details and promptly took me around the vehicle taking the time to show me around it and explain its functions etc. I was then on my way. The vehicle was perfect, clean, correctly equipped as in straps etc. It handled as I’d expect and everything worked as it should.

I loaded up and made my return journey which all went as planned.

I was unfortunately a little late back due to unforeseen problems on the M25 (accident maybe) but the chaps were very kind, professional and showed understanding. Another customer was also waiting for that very same vehicle who were also understanding.

I strongly recommend Choice Vehicle Rentals to anybody. If I could use one word to describe my experience, it’d be “Amazing”.

We had great service, from all my initial enquiries checking my licence was valid & that their mini bus was suitable for us with kids, the online forms made pick up such a quick process

The guys on the desk at Crawley let us park it at the depot while we walked into town for food & some shopping.

The 17 seater mini bus was so smooth to drive, I was worried it’d be a tank but it was such an easy van to drive, it was clean inside & out and had a lot of over head storage plus the seatbelts were adjustable, good for the smaller kids in our group

Hired a small van for furniture transport. It's a bit of a faff with the online forms. Friendly reception staff but then had to wait 3O minutes for the handover of our vehicle, eating into our paid hire time. Surely as a well established company you can organise what people have rented what for the next morning and be ready to go with handover of keys and vehicle there ready. On a positive note van was excellent high quality and individually the staff were nice people and helpful.

Great service received at Crawley branch. Very efficient booking and pick up process. No waiting time. Literally spend less than 5 minutes at the office.

It’s a shame there’s not an option to give 0 stars for the Crawley branch.
A couple of years ago I booked a nice automatic 9 seater for my family getaway and to be fair they rung me and refunded me the difference to give me an older version of the minibus which wasn’t overly bad but wasn’t what I wanted. Anyway I let this slip because it sounded like a genuine issue.
This year I booked a brand new minibus 9 seater for a work do in August, I booked this back in June to be certain I will have it.
Paid upfront in June and filled out the drivers forms. I rang the company end of July to make sure everything was still ok for my booking (just because I was paranoid) but I was put at ease as they have “a whole fleet” of new 9 seaters so I will definitely have it.
On the 16th of August, less than 24 hours before picking up the vehicle I receive a call from a man at Crawley branch to tell me that the vehicle has been recalled and no longer available, can only offer me a 6 seater and a car instead which will not work as that’s two lots of diesel and I have to find another person willing to drive a long way.
This is completely out of order and I should never have booked again with them. They completely ruined massive plans for my business that had been booked for months and I had even confirmed because I was paranoid!
Not a care in the world when I had to cancel and get a refund which I hope comes through.
Disgusting behaviour as they expect me to find something in under 24hrs during school holidays.
I’m absolutely raging that this company has done a similar thing to me again. What the guy probably meant to say was, “you paid a cheaper price back then, we got asked for a rental on the same dates and prioritised someone who paid more than you did.”

I recently rented a van from the Crawley branch of Choice Vehicle Rentals, and I’m thoroughly impressed with the service. I was given a brand-new Citroën Dispatch, which was in excellent condition. I hired the van for two months, and the rate was highly competitive—significantly lower than other rental companies I checked.

The online booking process was straightforward and user-friendly. Simon and Kevin at the branch were incredibly helpful and made the pickup and return process smooth and hassle-free.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the experience and will definitely choose Choice Vehicle Rentals again in the future. Highly recommended!

Extremely disappointed. Starting with the changing the car I have booked. Followed by the warning the any speed tickets will be sent via email/ I was wondering why they telling me that???/- may be their practice.Furthermore telling me that the vehicle is new and doesn’t have any scratches, but it does- I have took some photos. Non- proven charges- paid for 5 min early return of the vehicle - disgusting!!! Paid £100 for high speed, but not any documents we sent to me. Just they charged my card . I’ve emailed them and asked for any Police report- they never replied. Disgusting staff attitude- after I questioned her, why they charged me for returning the car on time, she said you MUST pay the charge because you returned the vehicle 5 min before the time and why else will pay for my fault. ????OMG people. Please don’t use this company. Safe your nerves. 🤮🤮🤮👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿Its 0 stars

I had a terrible experience with Choice. I rented a small Hyundai for 5 days from the Sofia airport. The personnel is very dishonest and unprofessional. They will try to steal your entire deposit and charge extra expenses on your credit card. When we arrived at the Choice desk at the Sofia airport and asked about the price for renting the car, we were told that it was inclusive of all expenses; however, once we signed the papers they told us that if we wanted insurance we had to pay extra. At first, we got a car that had some mulfunctioning problems, so we had to take it back and substitute it, wasting two hours of our first day in Bulgaria. Instead of being sorry, the personnel told us "you are lucky that we have another car of the same type". When we returned the car with a minor scratch in the back, they took the entire deposit of 360 euros. We also received a 35 euros fine for speeding, but Choice charged on my credit card 102 euros for it.

This used to be great independent family run local Sussex company.
Thanks to corporatism and woke culture. It’s now an authoritarian political correctness corporation, obsessed with micromanagement, box ticking and pigeon holing customers into boxes.
They also take your money up front and take days to refund your cash when they can’t provide services to you.
Avoid them at all costs, very sad indeed to see a previously great company go down hill so much.

i worked in birmingham with cheif and first and foremost adrian and kesh are disgusting human beings one can’t talk properly and one can’t walk properly they send out vehicles smelling of wee and poohand expect the driver to take the flak for it i had a bereavement recently and not one of the managers had the decency to ring and see how i was doing please if you have any sense at all please do not hire from these people they invent damage to vehicles so they can charge excess do not give them your card details unless you see all information required it is a terrible place and sean cunningham should be ashamed of his elf

EDIT WENT FROM A 5 STAR TO A 1 STAR WOULD HAVE BEEN 0 STAR IF THE SYSTEM ALLOWED IT , WAS CHECKING MY BANK ACCOUNT AND THEY HAVE STOLEN MONEY FROM MY DEPOSIT , SADLY THE ROBBING COMMENTS ARE TRUE , i'm glad i never read the customer reviews , rang to inquire over the phone and asked about their electric van , pleasant lass on the phone told me it would not cover my journey on a single charge , so i went for a ford diesel , turned up to pick up the van and oops there was a problem , the van needed a wheel change and the wheel guy was running late , was asked if i minded if i was taken to the hassocks branch to get another van , the detailer in the yard ran me up the road , when there is an issue it's good to see how staff overcome it ,i would have no issue using them again
