Picked up our car in fueteventura we did have a bit of a queue however the most dissapointed part was that it was not the car we had booked. We ordered a Fiat 500 and got an old Peugeot which was an a... See more

Hire car at Caleta de Fuste
Hired the car at Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura. Good service and the car was in good condition. Our first day we had a cracked windscreen while driving. They replaced it with another car.
Excellent service
Excellent service, as usually no credit card need it, good car I paid deposit for petrol which I had it back when I return it to the airport. I paid cash.

Whent to pick the car up at the airport, very high milage, tatty and a loose pasenger seat, we had to argue for a replacement, guess what, the replacement was high milage and was very tatty.
Paid 20 euro for the petrol that was in the car, guess what, they did not refund or answer any of our emails chasing this up, you are warned.
Cartastic
We used Cicar in La Palma airport. Our first car, a SEAT Ibiza, was a bit worn, but drove okay. Our accommodation in Puntagorda was up a very steep drive and the driveway entrance had deep crevices and humps, unfit for any family car. We swapped if for a Jeep Renegade the next day, and we were good to go. All very smooth, hassle free. Very happy all round with Cicar. Professional. Friendly. Would use again. Cheers.
No refund of petrol!
The car was ok, with a lot of scratches. When we got the keys the Cicar representive told us to turn the car back with full tank, but when we looked at the amount of petrol it was not full but 1/8 down. I took a picture and show it when returning the car with a full tank, and the Cicar lady told me I would get a refund on my creditcar. Now after 2 1/2 week and two emails later (no answer on my e-mail) nothing have happened!!

Frustrating experience
I've rented with Cicar before on other islands, and was always quite happy with them, but this has been the worst experience by far.
We booked a car from 12pm at Gran Canaria Airport, and were asked to provide our flight details during booking. Our flight was delayed and we ended up arriving at the car rental queue about 40 minutes later than planned. The queue was ridiculously long and we had to wait another 30-40 minutes. The guy at the desk was not very welcoming and basically told us we were too late and the car is no longer available. I asked him how this is possible as they could have seen that our flight was delayed, and the queue was so long as well. He then kept us waiting while making lots of phone calls in Spanish that we did not understand, and instead of being apologetic and explaining what was going on, he then just asked me to pay. I asked him ''pay for what? you said there is no car'', he gave me a condescending look and said that now there is one. Instead of apologising and explaining what was going on, he just gave me an email address to complain to. I wasn't given any further info about the car, rental terms, emergency numbers, returning times etc. I will also not even go into how frustrating and impossible it was to find the place to return the car, and I was almost late for my flight as a result. The signage is extremely poor.
Overall a frustrating experience and I would not use them again. It's a shame because I really liked them previously..

Awesome, professional company
Awesome company, can say only the best. Rented car for my vacation in Gran Canaria. Got handed much better car for the same price as i choosed from web site.
Easy car booking, no hidden costs, no deposits. You choose, book you car from their website, the document filling and payment is done on the spot. Car was in very good condition, clean inside and out. No problems what so ever. Professional staff.
Looking forward to rent from this company again.
Simple and hassle free
We used the Tenerife South Terminal branch. I've never had a more simple process renting a car. No fuss, no trying to upsell anything, just keys and told me the location. Same with the return, all very easy and straightforward. I was able to pay in cash on collection which was great. Only thing I would say is I'd have liked a nicer car, but I could have probably just asked. The one I got was very scratched, and more of a people carrier was expecting a mini SUV. It got us to all the places we needed to go though, so not really an issue.

Never ever use CiCar….last time they told me that I was unlucky because the waiting time was more than 2 hours to pick up my car but now I’m in the line waiting again for more than 2 hours so please everyone try TopCar they have no one in the line waiting and forget CiCar

I used CICAR for the first time and it was a great experience.
The only problem they have is that they take too long to arrange the papers for your car. We waited for 1,5 hour at the airport in the line for paper and another 20 minutes for a key in the garage.
As for the car (Opel Corsa), we have got it freshly cleaned up inside and outside. Car was perfect for two people and perfect small compact car for Gran Canaria, because there is very little parking space on the island and sometimes narrow roads. The car was working perfectly, well maintained, the only problem was shaking steering wheel above 100 km/h (the wheels were not centered) and for the price we have got it (300 €), it had quiet a lot of additional equipment and also was automatic.
Annoying thing in a car was that every third day, a car said that you need to adjust the tire pressure and reset the setting.
Returning the car is very simple, you just park it back from where you picked it up, return the keys to CICAR and tell where you have parked it and that is it.
I would definitely recommend them and I will definitely go back to them for a car if I am ever on the Canary islands again.

We waited about half an hour at the airport, but we had no problem. You pay, take the key, no deposit , no extra fees. The parking lot in Fuerteventura is right in front of the aiport. And also taking back the car was fast and easy. I can obly recommend :)
No hidden extras, good car
Quick pickup + drop off - Lanzarote (April 22). No hidden extras / no magnifier glass check at drop off. Nice staff and a good car. Well done
Excellent
Good price. A nice and new car. No need for for credit card. Excellent. Tenerife 8 to 12 of May 2022.
HUGE queue at airport - abandoned collection
We booked a car in advance for a week-long holiday in Fuerteventura in February. Upon arrival at the airport (at around 6pm), we found a HUGE queue of people snaking through the arrivals terminal, all waiting for the Cicar desk which was staffed by just two people.
The queue was barely moving and we estimated it would likely take roughly 4 hours to reach the front. There must have been literally 60 or more bookings ahead of us. This is no exaggeration. We tried a few rival desks but they were asking ridiculous prices (€660 for a VW Polo for a week?!). So we ended up taking a taxi and spent the holiday carless.
The fact that Cicar are seemingly unable to anticipate when they will be busy - surely easy enough to do based on prior booking information - makes me completely doubt their competence. It's simply unacceptable and must be a real embarrassment for Cicar employees. Cicar do have very competitive prices but as you'll see from our story, there may be a heavy price to pay...
Poor car maintenance
I have just returned a car from a weeks hire. I ordered a small compact car a fiat 500 got an SUV Opel Crosslander on an island as small as Tenerife not a practical car at all as limited parking is available.
The car in fairness was clean and tidy on collection when we eventually found it. We were left to our own devices to find the car no one was available on the carpark to help us locate it. We were not told by the office what car we were looking for only it was in the Cicar part of the carpark. Only on looking at the envelope did I see the bay number. Not good customer service.
We also have deep concerns over the basic maintenance checks done on the vehicles prior to rental on day 2 we found that the screen wash was empty and on day 3 an oil warning light came on and we had to put oil in. On dipping the engine the oil level was almost at minimum and engine seizure was a real possibility. Surely these should be routine checks made prior to the cars going back out on rental. Water, oil, fuel and tyre pressures and wear.
We couldn't get any reply from the contact number when we rang for advice it was lunchtime. On returning the car we were told that they would not be reimbursing the cost of the oil that their car needed. I would have to take that up with customer complaints.
I have used car hire on many of the islands before not Cicar, I have always found them to be helpful and the cars well prepared. I will not be using Cicar again.
best price, quality cars, efficient service
I used CICAR for the first time after having had experiences with the usual suspects. For Canary islands, they offer the best price and most competitive service compared to the big names that are often paired with many intermediate websites. Given the uncertainties associated with traveling nowadays, CICAR allowed me to cancel at any time at no costs, the price (cheaper than the competitors) included second driver and full coverage. I even got a free upgrade for a car with higher clearance, which helps. The delivery and return service on site was fast and friendly. I will go for them every time I visit the archipelago.
