I went on the 'Wild camping in the Cairngorms' trip a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The scenery was stunning, we camped at beautiful, secluded spots and Stuart made sure to tailor the route throughout the trip based on how the group was coping with the hiking (and the weather conditions) so it was an enjoyable challenge. I'd been worried about trekking with all my kit as I've never done that before (approx 13-15kg) but that was fine and we walking at a manageable pace while we got used to the packs. Stuart is really knowledgeable about the area (& mountaineering in general!) and it was just a fantastic experience, even with some wind and rain! I loved getting away from the city and having no signal for a few days - it was great to be with a nice group of people I'd just met and sit about chatting at the end of a day rather than being on phones. I enjoyed the overnight train journey as well!

A challenging, bank holiday weekend of hiking and wild camping in tough conditions (weather wise!). Stuart was a great guide and supported us through this! We were well fed and watered! (Stuart really had thought of everything!). And the inclusion of the overnight train was a huge bonus for us! Amazing group and fun times each night, esp the last one! Thanks to Stuart and all our hiking buddies!

I had a fantastic trip...,. well-organised, seeing parts of the country most people never see, and getting fitter whilst having fun. The trip included transport from London which is a very BIG bonus to me as I don't have to deal with the hassle of separate train bookings etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking to get into the countryside and off the beaten track. All the guides are fully qualified and the care for their clients is also obvious.

I had a great time climbing Ben Nevis and walking around a lake near Corrour in Scotland. I need to join City Mountaineering in other adventures in the future!

Really enjoyed my two-day trip to hike Scafell Pike! Would highly recommend!

I hiked Ben Nevis last month with Stuart, who is an excellent guide. Not only is he experienced and passionate about his work, but also supportive and kind. Sometimes on difficult hikes you need that extra push and Stuart knows how to keep you going. Also, the trips start and end in London and the logistics are well planned, which makes this group great for busy professionals. Looking forward to more trips with City Mountaineering, and would definitely recommend.

It was my second trip with City Mountaineering and I look forward to booking my next trip with them. We spent a weekend wild camping in the Lake District, our host Katie is amazing, such a great energy and so knowledgeable. She loves sharing skills so we got to learn about navigation, flora of the place and lots of tips for future adventures. I can't recommend City Mountaineering highly enough, the organisation from Stu is unmatchable, great communication with all the information you will need, the food while camping (we even had dessert), overall is just an amazing experience. THANK YOU SO MUCH Stu, Katie and team.

Perfect weekend away with city mountaineering to Glenriding. Ticked off Striding Edge on my to do list. Everything ran smoothly and Katie who guided was full of knowledge.

Just back from a fantastic winter skills and Ben Nevis summit trip with city mountaineering with our group of 8 friends. Brilliant organisation from Stu, excellent winter guiding from Katie - stunning views, a wintry summit in crampons, a gorgeous night in the massively undersold “bunkhouse” at the foot of the mountain (delicious food, cosy atmosphere, comfy beds, stunning views and walk in shower!). All logisitcs taken care of by stuart and the sleeper there and back just part of the fantastic adventure. Would highly recommend!!! Thanks so much

I have recently been on two City Mountaineering trips, both of which were wonderful!
Winter Ben Nevis (Jan 24): An incredible and superbly well organised weekend which felt like being transported to a different world! I hadn’t hiked in winter conditions before but Stuart gave us lots of tuition to stay safe on the mountain and learn new skills. It was awesome to reach the summit with a great team spirit after hiking through the snow in crampons!
Assynt & the NC500 (Sep 23): Throughout the week we visited the most amazing, off the beaten track locations across North Scotland, guided by Stuart’s extensive knowledge of the area. There was so much variety on this trip and highlights include the mini overnight expeditions, hiking munros and stunning scenery (especially in autumn)! A lovely bunch of fellow travellers with much laughing, card games and chat throughout the week!
The sleeper train made both trips a very efficient use of time (not to mention being more environmentally friendly) and was an experience in itself! I would highly recommend a trip (or several!) with City Mountaineering! 🤩

I had a great experience with this group in Ben Nevis. The organisation of the trip was spot on. The hosts were welcoming and we all spent a good time with them. I will definitely do other trips with them.

Just back from another enjoyable walking/climbing trip to the Lake District, albeit a rather wet one! Train strikes forced different travel arrangements to ensure the trip went ahead when it could so easily just've been cancelled, so can't fault that or the easy going bunch I met on this trip, so will be booking with these guys again soon.

Fantastic weekend in Snowdonia with Katie and Lou guiding. Local knowledg, learning about the Welsh language and how to pronounce mountain names from Lou was a great bonus.
Great planning, pick ups, drop offs, no waiting around. Accommodation was excellent.
Most of all the routes we hiked were wonderful, challenging and remote, away from the tourists, routes I'd never do on my own.
Thank you and see you on the next one.

Had a great couple of trips recently with City M to Scotland (Cape Wrath) and the Lake District. The trip leaders - Stuart, Beinn 🐶 and Katie - were incredibly lovely and knowledgeable, and the trips were a delight! I love their commitment to snacks and fun as well as loving the outdoors responsibly.
The guides shared their knowledge of the local areas, geology and wildlife, bringing another dimension to the trip.
I had previously used City and would definitely go on other adventures with them!

Fabulous Isle of Skye trek with Stuart at City Mountaineering! All bases were covered and coordinated for our group coming from all different locations: food requirements, gear supplements, accommodations fit for all, special requests such as DARK chocolate 😉 and a surprise touch for us bubble lovers with a toast at the top. City Mountaineering goes the extra mile with you to tweak your trek, even spur of the moment, to provide the experience you want; changing the route, lolly gagging with the group and providing extra sandwiches at lunch! 😋
Thanks City Mountaineering (and my hiking mates) for leaving me with lovely memories of the Isle of Skye. I would hike with Stuart and his joyful spaniel Beinn anytime!

Really good trip to snowdonia. Katie was a great leader and managed the hikes so well for the group. Loved the surprise hike in Sunday so we did two summits in one weekend. Also, great wraps!
