Customer service is dreadful

Customer service is dreadful. We came back from holiday to find our combi boiler had developed a fault. No hot water, and heating that wouldn’t turn off. We contacted them as soon as we could and it took them 3 days to diagnose the problem. Another 3 days to get the part needed, and up to today we have had no hot water for over 2 weeks, as despite the fact they received the part last week, it still hasn’t been installed.

This is a problematic system

This is a problematic system, particularly for older customers. My installation was of very poor quality - thoughtless use of communal space outside the flat to work despite my saying my elderly neighbours needed access to exits without risk of tripping, plus took no precautions to keep clean. I had to organise all of that and move their heavy objects. I watched as one of the fitters botched fitting a radiator with no clue how to measure or work properly. The more experienced fitter did not oversee the younger one as I would expect and was a bit defensive when I pointed out the problems.

The radiators look reasonable from the front apart from the cheap looking central side clips, but if you see them side-on (which I do for one of mine) they are pretty ugly.

When everything works, it’s pretty good but there are annual problems and I fear it’s not as cost effective as hoped (a meter problem has made assessing this quite difficult but my bills are high for a small flat). How will people ever give up gas heating when electric heating, even with modern radiators, is so expensive!

The App has repetitive problems and getting this sorted is very proving very slow meaning the useful remote function is out of action for periods of time.

The thermostats are full of design faults and are complicated and difficult to manage, particularly for weaker hands. I keep asking if they are going to get a better design and they say yes but nothing has happened 2 years later which suggests they are not taking this seriously and they seem unprepared to put money into putting this weakness right.

Some customer service advisers do try to be helpful but can’t solve the intrinsic problems experienced.

I normally research the field when buying anything functional and expensive but I did not do so for reasons of pressures at the time and just went on the sales advice of this one company. I don’t know if any other modern makes function better or more cheaply but I really regret my lack of doing the homework. I would recommend anyone replacing their heating doing some thorough research before buying.

Rubbish customer suppory

Have had two climastar radiators. The thermostats are a night mare. One of the radiators has now given up the ghost. Had good help from a lady who concluded that the thermostat worked but the radiator does not respond. Was going to send somebody to sort it out. That was several weeks ago and nothing happens inspite of several contacts with their customer support which is not worthy of the name.
Read what other customers say and the company obviously has a leadership problem. Very much regret buying from Climastar.

Really disappointed. Awful customer service. Beware!

Ref Order no: Webster/tq138ra

Really disappointed. We purchased a new boiler system paid 50% deposit ( which was a lot of money):and promised the installation would happen in about a month. It's now been 6 weeks, we don't have a boiler system and when you finally get to speak to someone, which takes a lot of time and effort to achieve. You get fobbed off with vague statements of "yes we have your money, but no we don't have a date for you yet" and "I'll message you weekly with a status update" guess what, no contact, no-one answers the phones and still no idea when (or even if) our system will be installed. Really poor service. We were warned by another provider but believed the rep. Stupid of us

Questionable aftercare

We have 3 Climastar radiators which were installed about 18 months ago. One has developed a fault and is not working. It needs an engineers visit. Reported the issue 10 days ago and despite 2 subsequent telephone calls to Climastar, no date has yet been arranged for someone to sort this issue out. I am told that they are trying to tie my repair in with other jobs in the area. Still no indication of when the repair will be organised. These radiators are sold at Rolls Royce prices and we were promised Rolls Royce after care. I am singularly unimpressed.

The adviser I last spoke to was very unhelpful as to help me to put them back on. I brought these heaters for looks and convenience. I want the all to work and stay on line all the time.
They were very expensive and I am very disappointed!! I would not recommend.

Zero customer service or support after sales

If I could give zero I would. Had the boiler fitted on 12th May and called Climastar the following day as the thermostat is not communicating with the boiler there is a red light flashing. Was told Oliver was in a training course and would call back. Heard nothing so called again on 15/5 left another message. Called again spoke to James he would look into and come back to me. Again didn’t hear anything back called back and advised he was on holiday. In between I was in hospital so partner trying to resolve with Climastar but without any success called back on 14/7 as hadn’t heard anything spoke to James who had been speaking with my partner but hadn’t got back to him. He assured me he was looking into but had been on holiday (no attempt to call my partner or myself with an update prior to him going in holiday) customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. He has assured me he will send me an email today that I requested setting out steps he’s taken to try and resolve and timeframe for this to be resolved. Also advised of another issue with the bath water temperature. I have suggested to Climastar sending an engineer from England to Scotland where I live to sort issues but so far this hasn’t been offered (the company don’t have any after sales support in Scotland but were more than happy to send their engineer ms when installing the boiler obviously to get their money. Would not recommend this co AVOID!

Dear Alyson,
We are very sorry that we were unable to resolve the problem as quickly as we should have.
We did not give it the importance it deserved and we have been waiting for a technical team in your area to coordinate the visit with you.
Our system only shows one incident due to signal loss between the thermostat and the base. After explaining you that stone walls can affect your system's connectivity and that you should place the thermostat in a location that is ‘visible’ to the base, we did not prioritise sending a technician to check the entire system.
After speaking with you yesterday, and having also been informed of other incidents with your boiler, such as those shown on Trustpilot and which were not originally recorded in our system, we have scheduled a service call for the first week of August.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Kind regards,

Service done on August 4th. No pressure neither water flow drops found. Thermostat replaced but with such a stone walls communication between thermostat and base may still have dificulties. We will follow it up

Still no contact since George called me…

Still no contact since George called me a bogus reviewer as he has no record of my purchase 3 years ago after spending £26k+ on a 13 radiator package deal with a Sunamp electric boiler. This is evidence that you can forget any 10 year guarantees - if they can’t find me on their books after 3 years, after spending a massive amount of money and they don’t respond - even when I email their enquiries department - disgusting that I am accused of a bogus reviewer and no aftercare. Go to Fischer if I were you…..

I'm surprised that these ratings are so…

I'm surprised that these ratings are so high when Climastar relies on the dysfunctional Harmony Wi fi app. It keeps turning radiators on when they have been turned off at the thermostat, randomly resets temperatures and takes 3 or 4 attempts to adjust the programme. I've tried to reset the app but now just get a welcome screen with an 'Entrar' button that doesn't respond. The heating system itself works OK but in 2025 one would expect the remote control to work smoothly. I note there have been no upgrades to the app for 9 months so would question the developer's commitment.

The reply I received was not helpful. It stated the obvious, referred me to basic YouTube videos on set up which I have tried already and asked me to reinstall their app - my review indicated I had already tried to do this and failed. I am still waiting for Climastar UK to contact me to advise further.

Looks Great but struggled to get after Sales Help

These radiators look great. Operating them remotely as I need to in my lodge though needs a VERY good WIFI signal apparently. The batteries in all 5 thermostats failed over the winter so you have to replace them every winter. I did get good service following a less than complimentary review.

Dear Chistopher,
Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, I fully agree with you that it is necessary to have a good internet signal if you use the app as a remote control to manage the performance of every radiator in your installation. Otherwise you will notice a delay of several seconds or, in some cases, even minutes.
It is like using those apps that can convert your mobile in a remote control for your TV. They only work properly in the internet signal is correct. Otherwise it is better to use the standard TV remote contol that works via radio.
The same is happening with our app. It is better to use the wireless thermostats via radio if Wi-Fi signal is not the best.

I also agree with you about the batteries, they usually last one year or one year and a half but it is necessary to turn off the thermostats and not only the heaters during the summer period. When the heater is switched off, the thermostat -if still on, will try to connect in a continuous mode and without sucess, to the heater. This causes a quick drain of the batteries during the summer period. Consequently it would be necessary to replace the batteries before the winter period.
I hope this explanation can help you.
I am really sorry that all this may have caused you some disconfort when managing our radiators.
Should you have any other question or doubt please do not hesitate to approach us.
Best regards,

George

Happy with Climastar system

We had a boiler and radiators fitted May 2023.
I needed to have a good read of the radiator set up, but I was successful. I must mention that I'm NOT an IT person.
I have always got a rapid response from customer services when I've asked a question. I recently had a question, sent an email and had a reply within a couple of hours.
I would advise people to ensure they have a ready supply of batteries in case the thermostat battery runs out. You get little notice of this, but it's easy to replace.

I'd give no stars if I could

I'd give no stars if I could. We installed Climastar’s heating and hot water system in May 2022 and have had quite a few issues since then. Firstly, we were horrified to find that the radiators constantly click – so great an irritation that we turn them off at night. And incidentally, the programming system is so complicated, we turn the radiators on and off manually.
Then (July 2022), because we were not told that our existing shower would not be suitable for the mains supply it broke. We had to find our own plumber to remove the old and install a new one (Climastar gave us only half the costs because they said we should have known!)
In January 2024, we noticed crystals leaking from the water heater, saturating the wooden floor underneath. Climastar sent someone to repair the water heater, but weren’t interested in repairing our ruined flooring – we had to use a dehumidifier for some time.
Next (February 2024), the stone face of one of the radiators cracked and broke into two pieces, which had to be replaced completely.
Today (March 2025), we find that the heating system’s pipework is leaking and again saturating the floor. Climastar are not interested at all because they say the pipework that they installed is only guaranteed for 12 months. Because I worked my whole life in the building industry as a site agent, overseeing hundreds of plumbing contracts, I suggest that the sub-contractors used by Climastar are incompetent at best. I wouldn’t recommend Climastar to anyone.

Further to my above review, I have now had the pipework repaired at a cost of £200, and that does not include any repair to the saturated flooring. So, buyers beware, Climastar's 10-year guarantee seems not to include installation of the boiler.

Dear Mr. Collins,
Thank you very much for your feedback.

It is true that we have some limitations covering the warranty of water piping. Basically, because when setting up a new device in an old installation it is very difficult to verify the status of that old installation.

Our products and installations have the same warranty but this does not include problems that may appear in previous piping systems.

Customer satisfaction is always our main concern. If you are so kind to provide us with images of those damages you mention in your pipe system as well as the cost of thoser repairs, we could investigate a bit further and eventually pay those works if we have caused them.
Please be so kind to contact us,

Best regards,

George

Pre-sale was great, after sales not so much

Pre-sale was great - very responsive and helpful. We wanted a heat pump boiler and they supplied one. The boiler is great but I suspect they are really lacking in experience in installation. Sadly post sale they are not replying to emails or queries about problems. We had to move the very large expansion tank that isn’t visible in any of their promotional literature. They put an overflow pipe through the floorboards and when asked how often water would go through it said never. When we lifted the floor fora different reason it is obvious that a litre a day minimum is passing through the pipe. My fortunately very handy husband has now rerouted the pipe work because Climastar have failed to respond to emails highlighting the problem.
I’m happy with the boiler but I think the company need to review installation and after sales of relatively new to them products.

Dear Kerry,
sorry to hear that our installation partners did not explain you about the need of setting up an expansion vessel so big, that is related to volume of hot water that your system handles and there is nothing we can do about it. The size must be that one.

About the number of water comming from the over pressure valve, it should not be a lot, maybe some drops from time to time. That amount of water you mention may be caused when the expansion vessel was moved from the original place to the new place.

Your system keeps the hot water for a long period of time, so when removing the expansion vessel, that over pressure created by the hot water has definitelly gone through the overpressure valve and to that existing pipe through the floorboards that in all cases has to be conducted to the exterior or to any other existing outbound water pipe. That excess of pressure created an extraordinagy amount of water expelled via the valve and the piping that was not fitted for that purpose.
After the changes and removals you have done in the installation we have decided to send you one of our installing partners to check that everything is correct and that no other problems may happen in your installation.

This is an update of the previous note, everything has been checked and seems to be alright.

Should you have any doubt or question please do not hesitate to approach us to enquiries@climastar.co.uk. We do not have any info@ email.

Best regards,
George Martin
