Shameful, dishonest and money grabbing.

I am writing this so that others know what they are letting themselves in for when dealing with this company. I'll try and keep it brief.

They're a site designed to help people find clubs for their kids. I signed up for a year (I run a club myself), didn't use the service, and didn't give it much thought. These things happen, and I had no complaints or ill will towards them, as I didn't post on the site. I've no issues about my first year subscription and have never asked for that back.

The problem was when the service auto-renewed for a second year, for £49, about 10 days ago. No prior warning was given of this renewal, and I only found out once payment had gone through.

I immediately (same day) emailed, asking for cancellation of the second year's subscription and a refund for it. They refused, citing their T&Cs.

I had paid through PayPal, so took my claim there, which they are fighting. I'm going to continue fighting and will go to the considerable bother of going to small claims if Paypal doesn't uphold my claim.

I have never, ever had a company behave like this. I can't imagine I'm the only person they've done this to.

As I emailed them, their actions are not far off from the legal definition of theft under the Theft Act. If you're running a company whose behaviour skirts the legal definition of theft, you're probably doing something wrong.
