we had booked a holiday for this coming winter and recently realized we had made a mistake in our booking and had booked a resort that was not entirely suitable to our needs. This was completely our fault, we had missed a detail in the website.
i rang the customer support and immediately got through to someone to talk to.
Natalie, was empathic to our problem and ensured that we had a resolution that meant that we were able to change resorts while maintaining our original flights and dates.
very happy with the customer service.
Booked a family ski holiday. First time with club med we were so excited! 10 days after booking my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and it became apparent over the next few weeks our holiday would not go ahead. I had NOT arranged insurance yet so tried to appeal to club med better nature and postpone the holiday until next year, or possibly go on a summer holiday instead. We were told blankly no! We gave them 9 months notice! And still they would not even consider it so please be warned.....this company appears to be family friendly but IT IS NOT. Book with another company!
Clubmed Portugal - more like 18-30 club vibes but really bad music! Booked a clubmed holiday expecting that amazing experience you hear about - what a joke!! We were awake every night until 11pm-11.30pm with the most appalling music - think screaming drunk karaoke and you get the idea - EVERY.SINGLE.NIGHT if you are booking this resort and you have to!! - book a room that is not in the building overlooking the bar or restaurant.
The Children were so tired too - it was so bad, we were moved to another room and told that this one would be better, it wasn't - in fact it was worse!
We couldn't wait to get home, it was a disaster - the kids club - really nice but the teachers really do need to speak more English to the children, it's very french.
When we complained they offered me a refund of £350 to be spent on another clubmed resort - lols!! we will never ever holiday in clubmed again - talk about going down hill bigtime!!
I've holidayed at several Club Meds in the past and chose Marbella for its touted sports diversity and reputed food quality. Unfortunately, this visit was quite a letdown.
Despite its recent reopening in May, the "new" resort feels more like a colossal hotel, housing up to 1,000 guests and located a good 30 minutes' walk from the beach.
**Swimming Pools**:
- The "zen" pool, a 10-minute uphill walk from the main building, isn't as serene as the name suggests. Many visitors disregard the calm atmosphere, and there's no staff intervention to maintain the tranquillity. Furthermore, it closes by 7 PM, preventing guests from enjoying a peaceful evening dip when many are prepping for dinner.
- The main hotel pool teems with families and young children, making a peaceful sunbathing or swimming session impossible.
- The spa-level pool, though half-covered, is small and often lacks sufficient deck chairs. Arrive early or wait until post 5:30 PM to find a spot. Same as the zen pool, it closes at 7PM.
**Restaurants**:
- The main buffet restaurant has lost its past charm. Instead of a rich culinary spread, the selection has narrowed significantly, especially with seafood. Many dishes lack in quality and taste. Instead of a global culinary array, the food variety has dwindled. Many dishes, especially seafood, are lacking in choice, quality, and taste. Only one fish proposed every night. Repetition is rampant.
- The reservation-required restaurant offered an unfortunate experience. An hour-long wait between courses, only to receive cold food. Moreover, the desserts seemed to be yesterday's buffet leftovers.
- On Wednesdays, they host an outdoor dinner, requiring prior registration. If you opt out, there's no alternative dining option within the resort. This led us, from day three, to dine outside the club, out-of-pocket.
**Staff**:
I remember Club Med for its vibrant GOs, previously interactive and everywhere. This time? Barely visible. The director's brief appearance at check-in was the only interaction.
**On a Positive Note**:
The spa is genuinely commendable, with reasonably priced massages (starting at 98€ for a 50 min massage). Kudos also to the skilled and friendly fitness trainers.
It's disheartening to see Club Med drift from its essence. Instead of delivering value for the price, it feels they're compromising on quality while maintaining high prices. This trip solidified my decision; future vacations will be at a genuine 4-star hotel.
We have recently booked a £13,000 Club Med holiday to Grand Massif Samoens for February 2024 and found out last week from recent guests that Club Med's spa facilities in most of their ski resorts are no longer usable. They have all of a sudden drastically reduced the temperature of their heating swimming pools making them unusable and lowered the temp of the Sauna to 45C (vs, normal of 80C) and have closed their hot tub. Upon checking the website we noticed that they still advertise heated pool and Sauna. As one member of our party is not skiing we want to make sure that he will be able to use the spa facilities. So I had the very unusual idea.. to call Club Med Customer service and ask!! And Jennifer answered the phone...oh my goodness, what an experience. Unhelpful, rude, clueless, unprofessional, where do I start? Jennifer's answer: "We have nothing to do with the temperature of the pools, it is our contractor who sets the temperature" . So silly me asks "but your marketing material does state "pool heated", I want to double check that it will be heated next year as otherwise we need to find an alternative? Jennifer: "like I said, it is not something we deal with, it is our contractor who decides on the temperature". So very silly me ask "can you find out for me (thinking hey, I've paid £13,000 for my holiday, Jenny's title has customer and service next to it, right? so surely she can perhaps try to find out?Aren't we entitled to some BASIC customer service when we call Club Med customer service? ). Jennifer's reply: "NO". Ok, could I possibly speak to a supervisor please? Jennifer: "NO". Surely I am able to speak to a supervisor if I am not happy with the call Jennifer? Jennifer: "NO". Are your offices still located in Wimbledon ? "Yes, but not customer service nobody will help you there". So you're saying that there is no way I will be able to speak to a supervisor at Club Med UK. Jennifer: "Yes".
Seriously...???!!! Club Med, is it really the best you can offer to your loyal customers?
£220 to change a holiday by two dates when they had the space. The quote for the new room came in cheaper than the original booking.
I’ve read reviews about their admin being horrendous, just more evident when you pay almost a 10% premium for the change of dates on a booking.
This organisation is completely out of tune with the market and has left a bad taste even before the holiday has started.
Skied club med March . Hotel was cold and spa working part time with jacuzzis turned off . Therefore sauna full when they did turn it on and couldn’t use spa all day. Management said directive to cut heating bills to save the planet ! I paid for 4/5 star vacation not to be cold to save their pocket rather than the planet! More corporate greed jumping on the political wagon to suit their own needs!
Stayed in Alpe D'Huez over Christmas. Considering the price you expect something special.
Food is average at best although restaurant staff were wonderful.
They were clearly completely understaffed.
Mini Club was appalling. Losing track of kids and kids missing ski lessons etc. I'm sorry but there can be no excuse for putting customers kids at risk.
I complained to the Chef de village and he told me they struggled finding staff and so had to take whatever they could get.
I was offered vouchers as compensation. I don't trust Club Med with my family so there is no way I'll be back.
Look elsewhere if you are expecting any degree of quality and a good level of childcare.
Terrible customer service. They will only respond (very slowly!) by email. I’ve been out of pocket by £1000 since Feb due to their mistake and they are now just ignoring me. If anything goes wrong, don’t expect any help at all.

I booked a skiing holiday on 2nd Sept 2022 paying the advance (booking reference 194304108). It was for Les Arcs starting on Jan 8th 2023. A week after I booked, I wanted to change it. But I could never get through to anyone on their phone lines. Their website was broken. Frustrated I tried emailing them on one of their email address given in the website. There was no response. I gave up contacting them, and decided I was not going to travel with such an awful company.
Jan 8th comes and goes. There was a total silence on their part.
Out of the blue on April 7th 2023, I get an email from them saying I owe them money for the skiing holiday I went to TIGNES (quoting reference number as 194304108-TIGNES). Not only did they not respond to phone calls, emails, they got the scheduled destination wrong. And they didn't even realize that I didn't go! They demanded full payment!!!!
I replied explaining that I didn't even go. Then there was silence for nearly a month.
Today I got a phone call from a French number threatening me that they will send debt collectors to extract the money if I don't pay up the cancellation fee!
Their back office is dysfunctional! They have no clue who booked, who went and where the went to.
Avoid them at all costs! All you will be left with is unnecessary stress, not the happy holiday you hoped.
My family and I recently stayed at DA BALAIA in April 2023.
There was a mix-up with our booking and the reception staff were extremely unhelpful to the point of rudeness. We thought we had booked a suite with 2 bedrooms but we had actually booked 2 separate rooms. No help was offered to us beyond “You should have double checked your confirmation email”. Our good faith in the Club Med booking process and the helpfulness of the staff was ruined.
One staff member was especially dismissive of us and we were left feeling that no one cared about our predicament. A simple apology and an empathetic attitude, perhaps even a small goodwill gesture, would have made a world of difference. It would appear that the staff lacked basic customer service training.
When we arrived at the resort, the staff who received us failed to provide much of the required information, we were unable to take the opportunity to sign up for the Petit Club for our 3-year-old son and could not attend the information meeting/orientation either, as we weren't made aware that these events were available. As a result, our son was denied entry to the Petit Club to enjoy the childcare service.
On Friday 14th April, I woke up during the night feeling nauseous and having stomach pains. I had diarrhoea and was sick a few times throughout the whole day due to food poisoning. I had dined and drank exclusively at their restaurant and bars, in fact, I had not even left the resort at that point. I can only conclude that I had unhygienic or improperly prepared food/drink at their resort.
On Saturday the 15th, we managed to get on an excursion tour, which was a boat trip around the coastal caves. A taxi dropped us off at a beach without being told what to do next and to whom to talk. The excursion group of us strangers just stood there, feeling lost. In the end, the taxi driver that had dropped us off advised us where we might find this boat trip. The boat company then made us wait in the scorching sun for over half an hour at the hottest time of the day before the boat trip eventually began. Our 3-year-old son almost got heatstroke.
The resort itself was barely looked after, with litter scattered across public areas and maintenance issues abound; we found peeling paint across most areas, one of our rooms had a toilet that was constantly running and kept us awake, the balcony door would not stay closed unless locked, our TV was wonky on the wall, the shower in our other room was so poor as to be unusable.
The standards of housekeeping were sorely lacking, with many of the basics, such as bottled drinking water, not replenished on a daily basis. The quality of the towels was appalling - comparable to sandpaper. On our final day, we returned from breakfast at 09:00, prior to the 10:00 checkout, to find the housekeeping team servicing our room ready for the next guests, their luggage was already waiting outside the room. We felt as though we were treated as unwelcome visitors rather than paying guests.
The final morning’s terrible display of customer disservice was indicative of our experience as a whole; poorly managed and trained staff with callous attitudes, treating paying customers as nothing more than an irritant to be dismissed as soon as possible to make room for the next unfortunate souls. What should have been an enjoyable and memorable first family holiday has been a borderline traumatic experience with two medical issues as a direct result of poor management. Misinformation and a lack of care throughout our stay have made us reconsider our plans to visit Club Med resorts in the future.
The worse part is, we made a formal complaint right after we came back and still, as of today, we haven't received any reply from them. We are being completely ignored and dismissed yet again, just like how we were treated at the resort. I can only conclude that they failed to fulfill their obligation of "send a full reply to your complaint within 28 days" as claimed on their website, and they don't care about anything other than taking money from customers.
So, save your money and go somewhere else, avoid Club Med as much as you can if you don't want to spend a fortune and be disappointed in the end.
My flight for a ski trip last year was massively delayed. We were entitled to compensation from the airline and as it was book via ClubMed, they were responsible for this. They refused to help, which has made the process of reclaiming directly from the airline even more arduous.
In addition, the delay meant we had issues with our transfer to the hotel and eventually arrived too late to collect our skis and missed a morning of skiing the next day as a result. Eventually, ClubMed offered some compensation but then never paid it!
Absolutely the worst travel company ever to try and contact and get a response from, by phone or email. They really let down the resort staff who for the most part are great at what they do.
Our ski holiday was cancelled 13 days before we were due to leave by club med and we are still waiting for a refund. Customer service have been very unhelpful. Promised refund is in process but 4 weeks later we still do not have a refund.

Terrible customer service ! Club med made a mistake with the timing of our ski pass - which they admitted at the time after leaving us stranded on the mountain with a 6 year old child who can’t ski well! It meant we couldn’t ski at all for our last day and ruined that day of our holiday. They agreed to give us a refund for that day of our ski pass but said they had to email to confirm - we have since heard nothing!! I phoned the club med customer service line and an extremely unhelpful person called Marie said she couldn’t do anything as it was a hotel issue (even though we paid our money and had a contract with club med). She told me to put my complaint in writing but didn’t give me an email address and refused to put me through to her manager! So we lost an entire day skiing and had a crap day due to club med and yet they are not refunded us or doing anything about it! Terrible service - beware!

I have been waiting for three months for club med to refund my fate from Grenoble airport to ski resort . Their transport did not arrive and after waiting three hrs I was obliged to pay for my own transfer as I was with elderly parents and a child with type i diabetes . Holiday ruined . Never ever book a club med they are a disgrace and obviously cannot afford a 300 euro refund . Beware never use them
Want to make a simple alteration to the booking and have been on hold for over 50 minutes 😤. Not acceptable
If you're having to amend an existing booking from the UK, be sure to arm yourself with a lot of patience. We are 15 days into a simple amendment request which still hasn't been actioned. 30 mn+ holding times, Groundhog Day when you do get through and still no progress. Clearly their system isn't working. Am not surprised their revenues are dipping. Maybe try booking via France, apparently they are a lot more effective.
Booking agent forgot to add in ski and boot hire so I had to pay 20% extra onsite.
Reception staff didn’t know where our room was.
Told to register for group lessons at 7.15am when arriving at 1am after travelling for 24hours.
Heating was broken and had to be fixed the next day.
Smoke alarm started chirping at 3am on the second night as the battery had run out!
After 45 mins and 3 phone calls was told nothing can be done as security can’t enter a guests room (was told the next day they can).
I asked for something to stand on so I could remove it myself.
After waiting another 15mins I stood on a wardrobe drawer and took it off the ceiling.
It was a sealed unit and was still chirping so I took it to reception.
On the way I met security in the corridor with a bar stool!
He was going to stand at my room door and watch me climb onto a bar stool to remove a smoke alarm!!!
Complaint in resort resulted in a credit offered on my next holiday - with a deadline to take it by February 24!! Hotel had no autonomy to compensate.
Nothing was resolved in resort and they suggested I follow up when back.
I have complained twice, now back in the UK but received no response.
Everyone commented on the amount of chipped crockery in the restaurant. This isn’t just a small chip here and there. It’s extremely chipped items, at every food station.
We returned 3 served cracked glasses during our stay of a week.
Never going with ClubMed again. My experience has been totally ruined.
Why is it that ClubMed responds to the good reviews and not the bad ones? Not only they don’t respond to the bad reviews, they don’t respond to emails, calls or even letters when requesting a refund.
Returned from Alpe d’Huez where the hotel told me i could request a refund for prebooked massages that i couldn’t take due to a skiing accident - which amounts to around £600. Well, it’s impossible. No one replies to emails or calls, ever. Period.
I will never book with them again and I advise anyone considering booking with them, because they make skiing easier with kids, not to bother. Just dont! You can do it without ClubMed.
