Frighting experience in Sauna- Club Pellikaan
Being a woman and having to use the sauna/steamroom alone (without a friend) was a disastrous and frightening experience today- after pointing out to a group of 4 men (no other where in the steam sauna today at that time) to please keep their voices down, talking quite loud in a to me unknown language (it might have been Arabic) they got very aggressive and obviously they where offended by being told of by a woman.
They told me to leave if I don’t like it and even climbed on the benches so they would be able to be taller then me- I already stood up because the situation felt about to escalate.
After alerting the Club personnel ( he actually was nice and tried to help) I got the information that the persons are already known to the club personnel.
As it is not the first time something similar happened to me or other friends- I asked myself today: why is a club, that is so expensive, not able to act in a way to let everybody feel safe and have their peace and the possibility to use the sauna/ pool/… in the way it is supposed to be? Do I in future have to check which persons are already inside in the sauna to weight my chances of having a relaxing time or being yelled at by men???!
The rules are for everybody who use the facilities. I have the feeling that I- being a woman have lesser rights then men of a certain background that just claim their space and behave just as they please!!!
It is at this moment NOT recommendable to choose this club!
