First I love the way they listed all my previous token, sales and history.
The system is very understandable but it's not really easy 😔

I was led to believe, by their advertisement, if I paid $19.00, my 2025 taxes (1099) were covered if I was on Turbo Tax. I had 2 places (Kraken/Coinbase, a small account each. Then cointracker hit me with the -if your transactions exceed (more than 100? I had 203 or something like that) after i joined. I was stuck there after an hour of connecting my accounts (their "easy connection" is bs too). To me, this is deceptive and dishonest promotion. But, they did save me a LOT of headaches and time, from what I was told. After I paid 4x what I was told it would cost.

Don't waste your money on this platform this year or going forward. I just wasted my money on the Prime plan for Zero benefits and unneeded services. This year I am only required to submit the 1099 DA form which Crypto Exchanges already provide. YOU DON'T NEED CoinTracker.io Any More.

It's hard for me to be honest, it's in my blood to be dishonest because I come from a long lost line of pirates. We like to pillage, make consensual sex, rob people of there gold. With the price of and thousands buying and keeping it their homes, can you imagine how much gold you could round up in a well to do city blocks. Lots and lots Cointracker is alright I guess, I need to use more to give a true opinion. Ask me later.

I was looking for a new crypto tax reporting software after reading that many users of Koinly had problems this year with Turbotax. I use Kraken as my main crypto exchange and saw that in their tax section they were using CoinTracker so I decided to go directly to the CoinTracker website and see if I could create an account and try them out.
Since I had 1,000+ transactions CoinTracker ended up recommending me the Prime+ Plan which costs $299.00 (ouch, thats alot more than the $26.99 that I paid for Turbotax Deluxe Desktop and Turbotax also did the stocks I bought/sold/earned dividends on). So I purchased the Prime+ plan and sync it with my Kraken and Gemini crypto accounts, this year Kraken issued me a 1099-DA but Gemini did not because I didnt buy/sell that much on their exchange but I still synced them for the transaction history.
When it gets to the part where you can either download the IRS tax forms (Form 8949, Form 8949 Attachments Pages, Form 1040 (Schedule D), Form 1040 (Schedule 1)... ) CoinTracker sends the forms to your email address instead of letting you download them from their website and in the email that you receive it opens a link to a website to download the forms but for me in the latest version of Brave Browser the forms keep downloading as corrupted and cant be opened or the download link opens up a website that never loads.
If I choose "Tax Filing Software" instead of "IRS Forms" and then I choose "Turbotax, Online or Desktop Versions" it will sync with my Turbotax account on their website but the data wont transfer to the Turbotax Deluxe (Desktop version) that I purchased from Turbotax. It wont upload any of the data to the desktop version of Turbotax.
For Crypto Tax software that costs me $299 I expected this to be a more smooth process but it feels like I spent $299 for nothing since I never got it to work. I contacted support, hopefully they can either help me resolve the issues im having or refund the $299 that I paid them because I only have 12 days left to file my taxes and this is the last thing holding it up.
Edit: After Playing around with different browsers (Firefox instead of Brave) I was finally able to download the IRS forms that werent loading by clicking enter on the url bar when the pages loaded up blank. I then tried to complete the filing on CoinTrackers website but I couldnt get past the screen where it syncs with TurboTax Online so I noticed a little "Need Help? TurboTax Instructions" under step 2 where it says to manually upload your files to Turbotax and I tried that. It has a guide that is a little complicated but basically you have to manually go through Turbotax Deluxe Desktop in the crypto section and add the entries in manually from Form 8949 and then after you file your taxes you have to print out Form 8949 (49 pages) & Form 8949 Attachments (44 pages) along with IRS Form 8453 (2 pages) and mail them out to the IRS within 3 days of submitting your taxes. Never in my life have I had to submit so much paperwork to the IRS when doing my crypto taxes.
I gave CoinTracker a 3/5 because while it did get the job done eventually I encountered many issues, it didnt work with the Desktop Version of Turbotax (it only syncs with their website version), and for the high costs I expected a seamless digital experience, not that I would have to mail the IRS a bunch of documents by mail after filing electronically with Turbotax Desktop.
