Course Review: Social Media Marketing Course - College of Media and Publishing
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently completed the Social Media Marketing Course with the College of Media and Publishing, and I am extremely satisfied with the experience. The course is well-structured, easy to follow, and covers a comprehensive range of topics that are essential for mastering social media marketing.
What I appreciated most about the course was how practical and up-to-date the content was. It didn’t just focus on theory; there were real-world examples and case studies which helped me understand how to apply the strategies. I especially found the modules on content creation, analytics, and platform-specific strategies incredibly useful.
The online format was user-friendly, and I liked that I could learn at my own pace while still having access to support from the tutors. The learning materials were clear, and there were interactive quizzes that helped reinforce my understanding.
One constructive suggestion I’d offer is for the course to include more detailed insights into paid advertising strategies across platforms like Facebook and Instagram, as this is a key area for many businesses. But overall, I feel this course has equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to implement social media marketing strategies effectively.
If you’re looking to enhance your skills in social media marketing, I highly recommend this course. It’s an excellent investment for anyone wanting to build a career or grow a business online.
Pros:
Comprehensive, up-to-date content
Practical, real-world examples
Self-paced with tutor support
Clear and easy-to-understand materials
Proofreading and editing course
I have just completed the Proofreading and Editing course. A great experience! It highly exceeded my expectations!
Already a copyeditor and proofreader of Spanish texts, I wanted to broaden my horizons, and English is a language I love since I was a child. After examining different alternatives, I chose CMP and this course.
The course contents covered the different points of the syllabus with complete and up-to-date information, including recommendations of books and links to different kinds of external sources, some of which, in time, led to other sources. Some of the lessons, in fact, were kind of fascinating trips to me. I really enjoyed going through them. And the practical assignments were always challenging. It was great that, no matter how many errors or other situations I could find in them, there was always something else to be noticed! I really liked that.
The tutorial support was also noteworthy. Julian always provided corrections, as well as respectful and enriching feedbacks, in a timely manner. And just as remarkable was the student experience support provided by Olly and Jake.
I have equipped myself with highly useful skills and in a comfortable environment. I warmly recommend it!
Copywriting course
My tutor Lucy was very helpful and also replied promptly to my coursework enquiries.
I found the course itself very informative, and the College of Media and Publishing staff were friendly.
Overall good value for money too.
I was really impressed with the CMP…
I really enjoyed the CMP copywriting course. As a professional editor/writer, it was a good 'reminder' of some of the basics, while picking up hints and resources along the way. I worried it might be too basic, but the assignments were challenging and fun. Practising different types of writing was really useful, and leaving the course with a ready-made portfolio was a huge bonus!
My tutor always responded within three business days with thoughtful feedback. It was both a confidence boost and a great way to learn how to improve.
It's a lot of self-directed work, but that was clear from the start. At the very least, I was able to do it in my own time - hugely helpful on top of a full-time job.
I'd highly recommend this course to anyone starting or advancing a career in copywriting (especially as a qualification boost) - it's a practical, hands-on programme for all kinds of writers.
I am a single mum with part time work…
I am a single mum with part time work and part time online uni. I needed something to spruce up my writing and editing skills. I haven't gone through the entire course but i have received my very first bigger mark already. Happy is an understatement!
My blogging course experience
I really enjoyed doing my blogging course through the College of Media and Publishing. The course was well-structured and very useful. The pace of each lesson was easy to follow. My tutors gave me valuable feedback after each assignment that helped me improve my understanding of concepts and shape my blogging writing style. Thank you!
The tutors were also easy to get hold of and very helpful if I had any questions.
Copywriting course - highly recommend
The copywriting course was informative and well-structured, and the tutor support was excellent. I am coming away from the course with renewed confidence and lots of new skills.
Absolutely recommended!
I am very happy I decided to take the Business Writing course by CMP this year. I am looking forward to keep practising and improve my writing!
Easy to navigate website and enjoyable course
Easy to navigate website, pleasant and informative communication. Course content was as I expected and well presented. I enjoyed the entire experience apart from an initial blip with tutor/ assignment reviewer.
The CMP Proofreading and editing course is invaluable
I completed the CMP Proofreading and editing course, which was invaluable for building my skills. The lessons were clearly structured and easy to work through, and the assignments were useful to test my knowledge. I particularly appreciate the clear advice on how to start doing proofreading and editing as paid work, as it is quite an intimidating prospect, but I feel supported by the CMP, and this has helped me feel more confident.
Generally good but some inconsistencies
I found the information provided directly by CMP to be well written & clear. Unfortunately they sometimes provide a link to third party instructions (for example Adobe Acrobat) and I found that information unclear & difficult to understand - I would prefer CMP to precis such information & include it in their own scripts.
Great course with a supportive tutor
I thoroughly enjoyed the Copywriting course, the CMP tutor was supportive throughout. I love the fact that you can study at your own pace, and your tutor is there if you have any questions. I'm a little sad that it's over - out into the real world I go!
My thoughts on CMP are as follows:
My thoughts on CMP are as follows:
• Undoubtably, I did learn a decent amount about proofreading and editing.
• The materials presented were generally of decent quality (although quite a lot of what I learned was by reading external materials which the course provided links to).
• The course was of a significantly lower cost than some of the alternatives.
However, on the less positive side:
• I think the course is cheaper because at the end of the day, you get less out of it by comparison to other courses – it is at a much higher level (i.e. it goes into less depth)
• CMP do an excellent job of marketing – in fact at times I found it too aggressive – and I’ve had to exchange several emails to get myself removed from their mailing lists.
• One of their key sales pitches was the availability of an individual who could answer any question. I found this to be useful, but only in a very limited sense. The course material is relatively simple and you don’t really need to ask many questions to pass the course.
• I was delighted to pass the course with a “distinction” only to find that literally everyone passes the course with distinction. It’s another example I think of CMP’s marketing strategy…make students feel good about the course to get better feedback on SM.
• The biggest gap I found was in the final section – how to get a job. There was undoubtedly some bits of useful advice here, but the reality is that it’s very hard to find work in this industry. It’s my understanding (I may be wrong) that competitor courses offer more tangible help to get work for students.
I short I would say this course is fine if you acknowledge up-front that you will just be learning the basics, and you’re going to need to spend more money later to do more learning / more networking.

Great learning experience
As an assistant, part of my job involves proofreading and editing documents. I enrolled in this course to enhance these skills and eventually find part-time work as a proofreader. I'm glad I did. I have learned so much. Thanks to my tutor, Shuna Meade, for her patience and guidance.
Brilliant start to my course
Brilliant start to my course. All the help and support I needed. A great team.
Fantastic Online Learning Experience!
I was extremely impressed during my experience studying with CMP. The course layout, studying material and online learning area was well-designed, thorough and easy to navigate. Having online tutor support at the click of a button was also extremely useful, as it enabled me to pass my course with confidence, making sure I was held accountable to the standard of work required.
Great course and perfect for those…
Great course and perfect for those already in work who need flexibility. My tutor was so helpful and really pushed me to achieve the best grade I could.
A satisfying course overall
Overall, the course was good & well thought through. The lessons were interesting, up to date & easy to follow. My tutor was very quick at marking assignments, which I appreciated as I could then continue with the course at my pace. I really appreciated the fact that there was no time constraint on completing this course, making it very flexible & easy to fit in around other commitments.
While I appreciated my tutor's speed at marking assignments, & the feedback that he gave, I didn't find his responses to my queries very helpful. This was disappointing, as I was hoping for more constructive tutor interaction, which would have aided/enhanced my learning.
I also would have liked to have a final marked assignment, as the end of the course felt a little flat & dampened the sense of achievement at completing it.
So, there could be some improvements, but I'm glad I took the course & have definitely learnt from it.
Really Enjoyable Course - Proofreading & Copy Editing
I enjoyed my learning experience with CMP. The website is easy to use and the way the course is structured is beneficial. The next lesson is locked until you have completed the current one so it ensures that you spend enough time learning the relevant material in each section. There is a mixture of quiz-style and tutor-marked assignments, giving a bit of variety. My assignments were always marked and returned to me very quickly. The only negative for me is the amount of emails that are sent with promotions for other courses - there are quite a lot.
