Please provide full refund as per your policy

This has been one of the worst consumer experiences and I would request that Comfort Works management step in to resolve the issue. I would also ask that they honour their “full refund policy” as I wish I had never ordered a product from them. I would not have spent my money ($1084) on such poor quality. I have previously ordered from Bemz which was an excellent experience without fit or quality issues.

I have a Karlstad sofa from IKEA. This would likely be one of the most popular models of sofa worldwide and appeared on the CW website which led me to expect the fit would be good. There were so many issues that most of the covers were loose and the cushion corners had dog ears. The frame cover was so tight it would have ripped if I had stretched it over. According to their customer service, these were considered minor fitting issues. It was likely due to my sofa despite me having two sets of original IKEA covers that fit perfectly. The product was unusable.

I was then told despite all of the issues, they would remake it rather than offering me a full refund. This involved me taking numerous measurements on what is a standard IKEA model. I was then told that the fabric I had ordered was no longer available. I was offered 3 alternatives, which were very different to what I ordered or wanted. Once again, I wanted a refund but was only offered 50% despite them no longer stocking the colour that I wanted.

The new cover just arrived and the fit is better. The frame covers are too long at the bottom and will not attach to the Velcro on my IKEA model. I also don’t like the fabric as it is not what I ordered. I have pets and children and the colour is almost white. I am told that at this stage, I only qualify for a 50% refund. That they are not responsible for my fabric selection despite them not being able to supply the actual fabric I ordered. I am also told that I could try to sell the cover to recoup some of the cost. This response is almost unbelievable.

I am going to seek legal advice. I have also considered approaching the television media. They will not honour the refund policy on their website. They also won’t answer if I will be eligible for a full refund despite what their website reports. I was far happier with my IKEA covers for fit and colour. I would like a full refund of the purchase price. I am happy for both covers to be returned. The first one that is very poorly fitting in the colour I ordered and the second one which is a better fit but in the colour I didn’t want.

Come on… it’s been four months and I spent over $1000. The quality of your product should speak for itself rather than the practice of what seems like hoping a customer will eventually give up. I would never have ordered from Comfort Works if I would have known how bad the experience and product would be. Definitely not in love with my CW sofa!!

Hi Kirsten,

Thanks for sharing your experience so candidly. I’m really sorry it’s been such a frustrating journey—it’s clear we missed the mark, from recommending a fabric that didn’t work to how we handled things overall. This should’ve been so much easier for you.

While I’m glad the fit has improved with the replacement, I saw that you’re still not entirely happy with the result. After going through everything, we agree that the best way forward is to offer you either a full refund or another replacement in a fabric you’re happier with.

The team should’ve already reached out to help you decide what works best for you. If you go with a replacement, we'll make sure the process is smooth and that the final cover is something you’re truly happy with. And if you’d rather take the refund, that’s totally fine too.

I appreciate your patience and for being so open with your feedback—it’s helping us get better at handling situations like this. Let’s make sure this gets sorted the right way this time.

Great-fitting, quality slipcovers

Comfort Works went to great lengths to ensure that my slipcovers--sofa, loveseat, armchair and ottoman--fit perfectly. They asked for measurements for the ottoman a couple of times, and for the most everything fits like a glove. The fabric

Lovely covers for sofa in need of revamp…

I was very satisfied with the covers made for my Laura Ashley Padstow sofa. The measurements requested were detailed and mainly clear. Fabric quality good and well priced. Felt as though a really personal service so would definitely recommend.

Poor Fit and Unhelpful Customer Service

We ordered slipcovers from Comfort Works for my Maxwell 8-foot sofa, only to find they didn’t fit. Despite confirming with Restoration Hardware that the dimensions of the Maxwell Sofa and the Maxwell Modular Sofa are identical, Comfort Works refused to issue a refund, claiming the slipcovers weren’t designed for the modular version.

This explanation doesn’t hold up, as identical dimensions mean the slipcovers should fit both models. There was no warning or disclaimer during the purchase process about any limitations for modular configurations, which feels like a lack of transparency.

To make matters worse, customer service has been unhelpful and unwilling to resolve the issue. I’ve provided evidence showing that the slipcovers don’t fit, but they refuse to take responsibility.

If you’re considering ordering from Comfort Works, be cautious—they may not stand behind their products if something goes wrong.

EDIT: It's been about 1 month (~20 emails) of back and forth with their Customer Support and we are still negotiating replacement slipcovers. They are working with me, which is great but the process is slow & painful (it takes a full 24 hours to get 1 email response; and hard to get on the phone; process is manual on my end since they wanted me to measure the sofa in centimeters). We haven't gotten to a resolution yet, but will update when we do.

Hi Lillian,

Thanks so much for your feedback, and especially for your patience while working with us to figure out why the slipcovers didn’t fit. I’m so sorry for the trouble this has caused.

I really appreciate you sharing the confirmation from RH that the modular and non-modular Maxwell sofas have identical dimensions. While that’s true for the overall size, in our experience making sofa covers, it’s often the smaller details—like the armrest depths or slope of the backrest—that create slight variations. These small differences can sometimes add up and affect the fit, which is why we typically treat modular and non-modular versions as separate designs to be extra careful. That said, I completely understand how this wasn’t clear during your ordering process, and I’ll make sure the team takes your feedback on board.

We’re already working on a replacement for you! To make sure it fits perfectly this time, we’ll need your help confirming a few key measurements so we can adjust for any differences before moving forward.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding while we get this sorted. We’re committed to making sure you love your slipcovers and feel confident in choosing Comfort Works. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to keep the conversation going with the agent you’ve been in touch with—they’ll make sure everything’s taken care of!

Pilling is really bad!

I spent a hefty sum on performance weave slipcovers for my Arhaus Emory sofa. They were beautiful when they arrived, but they don’t fit the back corners well. There is extra fabric I have to try to fold and tuck to hide. After three months the fabric started to pill. It has been nine months since they arrived and the pilling is so bad the slipcovers are not usable. They look just awful. So disappointing and a waste of money!

Hey Erin! Sorry to hear about the pilling. That happens quite often with a lot of fabrics (even ours), but I see how the pills can be really unsightly. Have you tried using the common methods for removing the pills (like shaving them or using a fabric pill comb)?

If you have and the situation didn't improve, we'd like to help. Would it be possible to send us some photos of your current covers through our Contact Us form here? https://comfort-works.com/pages/contact-us

If you can include your order ID that would be super helpful in tracking down which fabric you picked and we can take it (the troubleshooting) from there.

The ordered fabric was of very poor…

The ordered fabric was of very poor quality and was supposed to match "leather," but it started to lose paint within the warranty time, and they did everything to prevent me from being refunded or replacing the item with a better or new one. I do not recommend it at all!

Edited to add more info after a reply from CW: Yes, I bought another set - not matching "leather" anymore, and only bought the cushions as before (less risk), because I had to sit on the sofa without getting paint on, and it was the fastest way that would fit. I still do not recommend it as this new/different fabric quickly bubbled up, it is not very strong to hold the stitching in place and therefore quickly went out of place. Given the benefit of doubt, it was a good decision to wait for another 2 years to check the quality of this version as the sofa structures is very good, within the warranty, to finally prove it is not good and so no, I will not waste my time again getting in touch or collaborating to find a solution.

Hi Helena, we’re so sorry to hear about the issues you had with the earlier set of covers (I believe this was from 2019), and we apologise that the quality wasn’t what you expected. We’d also like to apologise that we’re unable to locate the details of what happened during the troubleshooting process back then—it sounds like it wasn’t the smoothest experience, and we’d really like to understand more about what happened.

We also noticed you got a new set of covers from us a few years later. How are those holding up for you so far? If there’s anything we can assist with now, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d be happy to help: https://comfort-works.com/pages/contact-us

Stocksund covers are impossible to get…

Stocksund covers are impossible to get back on after washing and hanging to dry. I've tried and my husband has tried. Wasted $800 for sofa and chair covers.

Update: Pictures were sent and I was offered replacements for $250.00. I was told the fabric I ordered has been upgraded, but there was not a guarantee that they would not shrink. I don't think I should have to pay an additional amount for washing them once and no longer being able to use them. I was not offered a refund or a free replacement for the $800 I've already spent. Since Stocksund has been discontinued, I will probably just have to buy a new sofa. Super disappointed in the customer service and the product.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s definitely surprising to hear that the covers aren’t fitting properly after washing. Could you send us some photos of the covers both before and after washing? This will help us better understand what went wrong and measure for any unexpected shrinkage. Once we have more details, we’ll gladly explore replacements.

Delivery times longer than stated

Delivery times longer than stated, Customer Service were unapologetic and completely inflexible. Should have used Bemz or Cover Couch. So disappointed we won't have our new covers in time for christmas as we ordered in plenty of time.

Hi Nicola,

I’m really sorry for the delay, and I truly get how important it is to have your covers before Christmas. The production backlog has grown since your order, and we're doing everything we can to fulfil orders as quickly as possible, including yours. Hopefully we might be able to turn this around and ship it out in time for Christmas.

Unfortunately, rushing orders isn’t possible at this busy time. We did apologise when you reached out and offered a rebate for the inconvenience caused. I appreciate your patience and sincerely hope the covers will still be a great addition to your home when they arrive.

Excellent experience. Highly recommend this company!

Michelle went above and beyond to work with us to get the measurements just right. Every email exchange was lovely and gracious. It’s painstaking work to measure every angle of a Joybird sofa and chair, especially when this is a custom order for a mid century modern set. Still, we can’t say enough about how wonderful and patient and kind Michelle is and once the measurements were as precise as the seamstress required, the package came almost overnight. From the other side of the world! The fabric is very high quality. We just upgraded our living space. Thank you to Rachel for the nice note tucked inside the box and to the seamstress for not giving up on us. In the end, kindness and patience and precision wins! xoxo

After an entire year and more than one hundred emails…

Spent $1500 on a cover only to have it fit loose and sloppy. Beware - they worm their way out of their guarantee and warranty!!! I had to pay a “token price” of $300 to have a custom cover made. That was a nightmare. SO many measurements and pictures with an extremely frustrating system to input numbers (it even told me repeatedly my custom measurements were incorrect). The custom cover fit better but definitely NOT worth $1800, in fact, not even worth the token $300. I think something from Amazon could look better. Now I’m dealing with a thin, see through cover that is tearing and staining!! Did I mention all of this took more than ONE HUNDRED emails and over a YEAR??!!! I should have just bought a new sofa.

Faded after 16 months. Wasted $800.

We spent about $800 on two couch covers. We chose the clawproof velvet in Storm Grey. The couches are in a living room next to a window. After 16 months, the fabric has faded to a pink hue. Not only is this incredibly disappointing for such an expensive item, the “only” customer service option available to us was a 50% off coupon to purchase new covers because sun exposure is not covered under the warranty. Mind you, these couches are not in an incredibly sunny location. They simply have a normal amount of indirect interior sun exposure. I will never use this company again and recommend others to avoid it as well.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear about the fading you’ve experienced — I can imagine how disappointing that must be. While fabric discolouration from sun exposure isn’t covered under our warranty, our offer of 50% off for new covers is our way of supporting you on a non-warranty claim. We’ve already replied to your email with some suggestions, including our Sunbrella fabrics, which are designed to resist fading. Oh my goodness!!

Oh my goodness, my sofa cover came out better than my wildest expectations! I purchased the custom cover. We went back and forth with measurements, photos, (and even a video) over several weeks' time. Comfort Works, and especially John, were tirelessly meticulous about every detail. They wanted it to be perfect. Well, they succeeded. The new cover fits like a glove, the fabric is gorgeous and high quality, and it's all thanks to their workmanship and commitment to excellence. I highly recommend Comfort Works.

Great new slipcover!

Wonderful to not have to take measurements for my couch (they had a template ready for the couch model I have). Product was made and delivered quickly, and looks great! Saved me from having to get a new couch (and move an old one out and a new one in). Overall great experience!

Company misrepresents themselves and does not deliver

This company misrepresents themselves. Per their own statement via their support team, they are based in Kuala Lumpur, not Australia, and their products are manufactured in China:
"Just to clarify, Comfort Works is an Australian company and while we’ve grown to base our main operations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, our commitment to quality and care hasn’t changed a bit. So, while your cover may be made in China, it’s created by our dedicated team, not by just any supplier. :)"

Additionally, they refuse to take responsibility for packages that go missing in transit and attempt to deflect their own responsibilities as the sender onto the customer. Per their own statement, because the package has arrived in 'the Australia' (sic), they are no longer responsible for it.

Thanks so much for the feedback, and I’m really sorry for the trouble with your fabric samples. After looking back at the email conversation, I can definitely see we could have handled this better.

Just to clarify, there was no intention to push any responsibility onto you. When we asked if you could check with the post office, it was just to get a bit more info to help us track things down from our end. But you’re absolutely right—since the tracking showed the parcel wasn’t delivered, and you did not want to contact the post office, we should’ve looked into it ourselves and taken the next steps for you (instead of refusing the refund outright).

We’ve processed a full refund as a way to make this right, and I’m genuinely sorry for how this was handled. Thanks for sharing your experience with us—We're always aiming to do better.

Not listening and in denial of what's on their own website

I want to write a new review for Comfort Works because they continue not to listen or read the feedback that is given.

I received a cover that is blue when in fact the pictures on their website are gray. As stated in the description of the colour, "Cool, pale grey with faint blue tones". There is NO GRAY in this, it is light blue. The image on your website is gray. The description is gray.

Please don't reply to my review saying I've changed my mind. I haven't changed my mind. I wanted gray, as explained and displayed on your website.

Do better!

Hi Gilberto,

I understand your disappointment, and we're sincerely sorry our previous explanation didn’t provide the reassurance you were looking for. While we don’t question your ability to judge colour, this is precisely why we always encourage ordering fabric samples first. Screens often display colours differently, and samples allow you to see the fabric’s true colour in your own environment.

As much as we’d love to make this right for you, we do consider this a change of mind according to our policy, as the cover you received aligns with our site’s descriptions. Sorry that our solution didn’t meet your expectations, but please know I’ve taken note of your feedback and shared it with our team. I hope you might reconsider and accept our solution—we’d truly like to find a positive way forward with you."

excellent

The cover is very nice, it was easy to order after having received the colour samples. The cover fits well, the fabrics appears strong and of better quality as the original IKEA fabric. The only negative remark I have is the fact that the zippers on the side of the pillows are visible. It would have been nice if they had been covered.
