Connection is always terrible I've been…

Connection is always terrible I've been stupid enough well lazy to swap providers. After year with this trash company I've finally moved on. This company rips people of limits their internet connection but make us pay top dollar and their call center is so bad they argue with the customer!!!!! And then hang up and wont allow me to talk to anyone to put in a complaint. I am super glad I've left this horrible provider i would advise people to never sign up here.

Useless company

Compass communications is a rip off company and should never be used they have continued to bill me even after I have changed to a new provider 4 months ago and they keep telling me all different story's each time i contact the call centre. This company needs to be shut down

Avoid avoid AVOID at all cost.

Avoid this "company" at all costs, unless you enjoy being taken advantage of and bent over from behind.

My biggest mistake was letting the doorknockers sign me up. It was only due to it being right place right time, new rental, had just moved in, needed internet. What followed was an absolute crapshoot for almost an entire year. Had no fibre/connection laid from the street/box to my house, so was told they would book a contractor to lay the cable to the house within 4 weeks max IIRC. Never did this non existent contractor even turn up, and as you can tell, compass has absolutely pathetic communication and customer service, so never did I get straight answers or solutions to the issues. Even more shocking, after 4 weeks I found they already begun direct charging my bank account the entire $85 monthly charge, despite still literally not even having an actual internet connection at all. Figured it was a mistake and something you'd expect a company to remedy swiftly, but not with compass. For over 6 months they kept charging me over and over for my imaginary internet connection. Never got any response from them. So when I'd had enough of this circus show of stress, i went with a much better provider, and i got connected and set up all within a couple of weeks max, super smooth. Of course only then did compass communicate with me, just to threaten and tell me they're charging me hundreds of dollars more to break contract with them.

I refused to pay, obviously, they'd already wrung me dry for months on end. Their only communication is to threaten legal action, and they ended up putting very pushy debt collectors onto me and wrecking my credit.

They're so much worse than just an incompetent company, they're flat out crooks, only out for your $$$. They realize almost no one would actually be able to fight back or even afford to take legal action, absolute scum

I'm glad and unsurprised to see the recent articles from the commerce commission from past years to even just months ago, stating that compass had been given huge fines and many infringements, from numerous cases against them, and their consistent breaching of the fair trading act

There's so many cases and articles regarding all of the legal action taken against them, it's easier to just Google "compass and commerce commission" as above. You won't find a single positive result about them. They really stung us all hard as you just don't expect any of this from a company, in NZ especially so with our level of consumer protection, clearly though it shows you need to be careful as there clearly are slimy businesses like this still out there.

Hopefully this crap doesn't happen to anyone else again from a company. It's great they gradually were exposed and held accountable legally. The experience has made me never go into contracts and plans with service providing companies like this, and instead stick with contract-free, trusted companies. I personally went with Voyager following all of this years ago (this was all 2017~ onwards) and I've stuck with them ever since, i couldn't recommend any other provider higher.

Good job on everyone speaking up against this crap and getting it out there.

For your sanity avoid at all costs

If I could give it negative stars I would.
We are a business customer with Compass, over the years their customer service has steadily decreased. We have constant issues (at least once a month) with the phone service they provide. Trying to get hold of anyone is impossible and once you do the only answer they have is that the back office needs to look into it. We are now at the second week of not having functioning phones. I dread to think how must this has cost us in lost sales. They seem to have zero interest or ability to resolve issues.

Truly the worst ip out there

Truly the worst ip out there. The last straw is no instructions that came following a change to the ONT box we have installed at our home so we’ve been without internet for days because they’re only available during working hours… when I am also at work and therefore unavailable to troubleshoot. Connection is so poor that we’re getting speeds of 36mbps on a connection that should supposedly get 856mps on average

I only put one star as that's as low as you can give.
For a company in the communication industry they are a joke.
Read the reviews and DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY or ZERONET which they also own.
Customer service of -5 stars. Dreadful communication. They hide in a office behind a computer screen and if you are really lucky you might get through on the phone.

They don't answer phone calls, and don't answer emails. Is this company being run by somebody on meth, or a 5 year old. Unbelievable that a business with this kind of communication can survive in NZ.

Terrible customer service.

Seriously, the worst company and customer service we have ever dealt with!!
After 5 days of no internet and hours and hours of trying to contact someone (they disconnected without us knowing) it took over a week to get hold of somebody. Eventually, internet was returned, so we told them we didn't want to pay for their service anymore and gave them 30 days notice. After 30 days they were now NOT going to disconnect our internet and told us we needed to give 30 days notice. So frustrating!!! When I called them to clarify that we already had, they wanted to know who we spoke to as they didn't have any record of our phone call and couldn't proceed without a name of the person we spoke to initially... why would I even know that or think that's something I should remember...
Not one person offered an apology or took any accountability for anything whatsoever.
What an absolute disgrace of a company. I would 10/10 NOT recommend ever signing up to these incompetent time wasters, who never take accountability for the mess they create. Do yourself a favour and don't get involved with this company !!
I would give minus 5 stars if there was an option.

Fricken appalling service

Focken appalling service. Have been without internet for 33weeks!!! Yet they have been stealing money from my account weekly from $25 to $114 weekly. Called numerous times with an unamounted attempt of no answers!!!! And once they did decide to answer, there shiitty customer service people are fricken pathetic and don’t give to frocks. They had gone through my acc whilst on the phone she went through the system and changed my wifi name from what was on my modem to a whole new name. When I told her I had seen the change she lied saying she wasn’t able to do so the proceeded to hang up on me!!!!! All be cause she was asked to read out the money dates times and amounts in there system to see if it coincided with mine. Now I have gone thru bank statements to see from 31.08.23-14.04.24 $1311.99 has been taken from my account without my consent

3 days with no outward email service

3 days with no outward email service. 3 requests for a call back. plus 2 tries waiting in excess of 45 minutes on the phone without an answer. No system to say how long the wait time is going to be. Their system says their email address does not exist and cannot be reached. They do not value their customers, even long standing ones. A major shift in attitude, probably starting at the top of the organization, is long overdue. Their glossy advertising has no substance of service to back it up.

You should never sign up with them

You should never sign up with this provider ever! These are the reasons why: they will never reply to any emails on the Customer Services or Complaints email address. The chat system always says they are overloaded and too busy. They falsely charge default fees when the bill has already been paid on the due date and keep increasing the late fees bill to bully people into paying. I have never had any email responses back from them ever. Feeling very frustrated.

I have been with Compass 5 years,
Last Thursday I paid $230, They cut my internet on the following Tuesday, my son paid the supposed outstanding amount, until I got it sorted, this morning I checked my compass account and they saying I owe $243.
I started ringing them at 10am till 5 pm since Friday and have only got through twice

I told them it was urgent and Iv been waiting since Friday to get a call back from technical support it's now Tuesday and I called up and they said another 24 hours of waiting. I then asked to close my account and they again told me I have to wait for technical support.... bro what a joke don't join do not recommend at all to no one

Absolutely horrible company to deal with. Regret the day I signed up with them. For a communications company their service is terrible. They have cancelled my domain name for no reason. My account is fully paid up. This problem, and lack of help or level of care, has collapsed my business today!! W-T-F Compass! Pick up your phone!
