This company is the worst

This company is the worst. Read all the terrible reviews and you see a clear pattern here. Unreliable boats, poor customer service and a battle to get your money back. This company should be put out of business.

Somehow never fails to disappoint.

Whilst waiting for the ferry in Guernsey on the afternoon of Monday July 19th the guy next to me said, "However hard you try, Condor never fail to disappoint." I am really sad to say, that is my most frequent experience too, out of more than 100 journeys with this monopoly carrier. Front line staff are good; leadership and management is hopeless! Hottest day of the year; held two hours beyond booked departure time. Customer service? No explanation...no offer of bottled water or refreshment. Couple of hundred cars in a small compound, most with their engines running to keep the aircon going. Anyone show any concern. Yep. Customs officers prowling round and questioning anyone who looked vaguely suspicious! Condor staff ... not a word until loading began, taking a couple from here and a couple from there to fit the height spaces on the ferry. Stopped a line from moving up halfway through and then ignored them for half an hour, eventually being very rude to one driver for not stopping in time and the next driver for not being ready! Anything else? The three hour journey took over six hours through a late change of schedule. So Guernsey to Poole 1510 - 1810 became Guernsey to Poole 1710 - 2300 for many fractious families. Meanwhile every ship in the passenger fleet arrived in Jersey at the same time with the second high speed ferry sitting outside doing nothing whilst it could have called at Guernsey and gone on to Jersey and St Malo and saved all the loading and unloading on a ship that didn't have room for all the cars and had to leave some behind. Are there any managers at Condor? There is very little evidence other than endless changes to the published timetables. |I suspect this is a company run by accountants! If you map the day's movements, Condor managed to save one lot of harbour fees and run the most fuel efficient ship on the longest rota. Eventually the Captain admitted the delays were due to the difficulties loading - First in Poole and then in Guernsey. Have they not done it before? Could it have something to do with keeping people waiting for hours when they just might have started sooner? Please give the rest of it to Brittany Ferries. They at least get it right 99% of the time.

Late cancellations handled excellently

Due to family issues I was recently torn between staying on Guernsey or returning to the UK mainland.
On one occasion I booked a ferry during the night before the sailing, only to receive a message that changed my mind in the morning: the Customer service line was very busy in the morning but using the call-back service I was called within the hour and offered a voucher to the full value of my ticket.
On the second occasion I was queued up at the dock in preparation for boarding when I received a call that caused me to drive away from the port: a couple of hours later Condor called, unprompted by me, and said that they had transferred my booking to a much later date so that I can reschedule when I know my plans.
Thanks for great customer service,

A lot of faff, late and the non-gravy boat!

Arrival into Guernsey late, exit from Guernsey moreso (no communication as to what is happening once your car is in the 'pound').

Be aware of the Guernsey arrival rules which do not seem to accept you arriving with NHS vaccination proof! For some reason, other than faff which it is, you have to fill
this into the 'Travel tracker' - a glitchy website at best - and have your 'App' ready to display (Even though I had two arrivals due to aforesaid glitchiness!).
Compound that by paying for 'Pie, chips and gravy' onboard and asking (the reasonable question) 'Where is the gravy?' to be told.......'Did it say that?' (Yes..my response)... 'Oh, it shouldn't have, there's no gravy on board!'

Suggestion to the catering department........go to the shop and buy some Bisto! (Simples!)

I booked a ferry from the UK mainland…

I booked a ferry from the UK mainland to Jersey for 6 September, a ferry from Jersey to Guernsey for 10 September and then a return ferry to the UK mainland from Guernsey on 13 September. I also booked and paid for accommodation which is non-refundable.
Condor Ferries cancelled my ferry from Jersey to Guernsey on 10 September which brought everything tumbling down. I was offered a replacement sailing from Jersey to Guernsey on 7 September... are they really that stupid?
They don't even give you the opportunity to discuss anything, it is all done via the chat service on their website.... faceless cowards!!
A classic case of profit before customers.

Terrible experience, avoid Condor if you want to be sure of your holiday in the Channel Islands.

Like the previous review I have had terrible experience with Condor Ferries. I had booked a holiday in the Channel Islands, including Car Hire, Hotels, Excursions and Ferries with Condor.

Nine weeks after booking Condor I got an email from them saying they were making changes to focus on their busiest sailings due to Covid, and were therefore cancelling my booking from Jersey to Guernsey. In other words they were focussing on profit rather than customers. I was offered a sailing the day before or the day after. This necessitated altering two hotel bookings and a car rental. Now a further six weeks later I have received an email thanking me for contacting Condor Ferries (untrue), and that they were cancelling my booking back from Guernsey to Jersey as requested (untrue). They did not offer alternative sailings, but said I would be refunded.

If you want to arrange a holiday in the Channel Islands you would be wise to avoid Condor Ferries, in my experience.

Booked a return trip to Jersey 3 months ago, received a text and email advising my sailings were cancelled - no explanations given.
Nobody is answering the phone, the live chat or the Facebook feed.
I cannot modify the booking online, but funnily enough I can cancel (and request a refund) and make a new booking.
It's appalling, nothing short of theft.

Condor ferries cancelled both our crossings to Jersey, and don't appear to be available to discuss our refund . The phone line is occupied for at least 60 mins waiting and their email promises of getting back within 3 days is absolute nonsense.
I'm extremely concerned about getting my money back since they do not appear to be contactable.

Terrible company. DONT BOOK WITH THEM

Tried booking a boat with condor 5 times for the same trip jersey - guernsey . Each time they cancelled the booking with ridiculous excuses, and a 30+ minute wait on the phone. Absolutely vile service that is a pathetic excuse of a company as this has been an ongoing trend since they’ve started! A simple trip to a neighboring island appears to be too much for them

Turned up 90 minutes before departure…

Turned up 90 minutes before departure as requested (6am) and ... sat around in the terminal for 80 of those minutes. They did well with their Covid rules, and the only minor issue was the coffee vending machine required cash, rather than contactless. (Also there was huge signage for a cafe that wasn't ever going to open, perhaps it could be covered up?)

The ferry was OK, the Horizon Lounge was great as they had taken 50% of the seats out of use, making it feel much more "exclusive".

The only downer was the non-working Wifi which was dismissed by a member of staff as "we're not charging for it". I was intending to use the 4 hours on the ferry to do some work!

The food was OK if you like bacon and sausage baps. The price was high but not exorbitant and the Costa Coffee machine made great coffee.

At the port of Jersey they had a team of 9 nurses taking the CV19 swabs, which meant a bit of a queue, but the nurse was gentle and quick.

In retrospect I would have downloaded things beforehand if I had known the wifi wasn't working, which I put down to poor communication on their part. The occasional random 3G connections to Vodafone France was the only other option for me.

Redeemed themselves after poor treatment of customers.

I have had to cancel our group trip from Jersey to St Malo in July due to Covid-19 travel restrictions because these companies are indifferent at best. The States of Jersey currently require anyone arriving on the island to go into 14 day quarantine. We were due in Jersey for four days then travelling on to France via Condor Ferries. So it's not feasible to go since we would have to go into isolation in a hotel booked for only four days! Therefore we couldn't go on the ferry anyway! We paid £291 for the one way ferry trip for 9 of us. Condor Ferries and Aferry would only offer us £193 refund even though we can't go due to government restrictions that our not our fault. This is an appalling way to treat customers during this time. Shame on both companies. They will no doubt spout on about T’s&C's but Covid-19 is an exceptional situation for travellers. Beware of this treatment of customers before you book with either company.
Update: got an email in July from Helena at Aferry. They have refunded the balance my fare In full. Thank you Aferry. Better late than never, well done.

Could not fault it

The majority of reviews on here are bad but I have to say I could not fault a recent crossing from Poole to Guernsey on 27h February, admittedly the ferry had very few passengers, but the whole process from using the online chat to booking and the crossing itself everything was good. We were kept informed beforehand regarding change in timings of the ferry and embarkation and disembarkation with a car was plain sailing ⛵️!!

Absolutely disgusted with Condor and their Brusque Indifference!

Absolutely cannot believe how our sailing for 23rd.Dec 2019 has been cancelled...weather is calm, dry with no dire forecast imminent.
So our Christmas holiday has been ruined, all bookings, hotel, Christmas lunch etc. all cancelled!
It took hours to get in touch with Condor ferries and when we did the manner with which we were spoken to was brusque and utterly indifferent, just told all sailings over Christmas were unavailable.
How this must affect the holiday trade in Jersey must be dire.....Condor need a new sea worthy ship, and soon. Merry Christmas everyone hope you make alternative plans in time !

Guaranteed to Let You Down, every time...

So, another MASSIVE let down by Condor Ferries to afflict my family this year. My daughter booked a weekend christmas shopping trip to Jersey on Condor Ferries, travelling over on Thursday and coming back on Sunday. However, she received a text on Thurs morning saying that they had cancelled the sailing that day and that there were no others. We then very quickly went onto Aurigny's website and booked the last two seats on the plane on the 5.00 pm flight. So at least they got there and the weekend wasn't completely ruined. Then, today, my daughter has received a text to say that all sailings this weekend have been cancelled. No explanation and no offer of alternative arrangements. When they phoned up Condor to ask how they were supposed to get home, they were told THERE ARE NO MORE SAILINGS UNTIL THE NEW YEAR!!! How in God's name is this company allowed to conduct itself like this, with absolutely NO regard for its passengers?? We have now had to fork out for a return flight (thank God there was room on Sunday morning's flight) as well as an outward flight, and no apology, no offer of compensation, nothing. What about the, what must be thousands of, passengers whose christmas plans will have been ruined? How much longer is Guernsey going to put up with this scandalous joke of a company??

Utterly unreliable service

Utterly unreliable service, notionally between Poole and the Channel Islsnds. The vessel used, Liberation, is unfit for the crossing. If it is not broken down, then they say it's too rough. Over my past return journeys precisely 0, yes 0 have been undisrupted! Air for me in future.

Cancelled holiday

I drove overnight from York (6hours) to Poole on 27th July for 7days in Jersey only to be told the ferry was cancelled ( broken down in Guernsey) the next ferry we could travel on was 4 day later. We had to cancel our holiday because we could not get any accommodation
in Poole so I drive home.
Since then tried to contact customer relations without success.
3 emails. It's not possible to contact them on the phone, I have asked them to ring me, but haven't.
All I want is a Email to confirm that the ferry was cancelled so I can claim off my travel insurance. Not good customer relations. I have got want I requested (10 days later). customer relations phone no. 01202 207200 and 01202 207207 I hope these help others.
