Not happy with this property rental and disgusted with Original Cottages as a holiday letting agency. No promised cream tea, no milk for coffee, no wood at all for log burner and the freezer was frozen solid. We arrived at 8pm and it took THREE HOURS to defrost the freezer enough to open two of the drawers and put in the frozen food we had brought with us. We melted a third of a large bucket of water out of the freezer and this still left the top drawer frozen solid top to bottom. Worst of all, we e-mailed Original Cottages four times and got no reply - they simply ignored us. I was so cross I posted a one star review on TrustPilot. THAT elicited a response - to TrustPilot - within hours, but three days later there was still no response to us or any attempt to resolve the issues. Furthermore, whilst Original Cottages provide a phone number, this property (as with many in Cornish villages) had no phone reception, so a phone number is useless.
We received a very nice welcome. The owners are very friendly and helpful with everything. It should be emphasized that we have rarely had such a clean and well-equipped holiday apartment. The mattresses are simply fantastic. I have never slept as well in a hotel/ Cottage as I did in Goosehill. If we visit Cornwall again we would book here again.
Do not use this company paid a deposit and then we found out cottage was up for sale and they will not give deposit back to us. Cannot speak to anyone no management to sort out issue.
Spent a week at Merlin Golf Club in Mawgan Porth .Found apartment to be dirty with Seagull poo on the balcony .Dirty cutlery , pots/ pans .Heated towel rail didn't work so had damp towels all holiday .Complained to Cornish Horizons who had an excuse for everything and listened to staff who just lied to save their jobs .They are a disgrace and you should stay well away from this Company .
Booked this cottage at short notice through Cornish Horizons. Happy with their booking process and communication and delighted with Bryher Cottage.
The apartment was very spacious and well equipped in the centre of the bustling fishing village. Unfortunately the location made it a little too noisy for us.
Fabulous apartment, one of the best we have stayed at. Great location ,spotless clean everything you needed was there.
Easy to use and plenty of communication. If I holiday in Cornwall again I will definitely be going through this company as they are reliable and helpful.
Excellent high spec accommodation walking distance to town or countryside with estuary views from the garden
Very disappointing and underwhelming visit to Chandlers apartment FOWEY
Awful smell throughout, dirty and uncared for, and
the double bed is actually 2 singles fastened
together with nylon tie straps.
Booked through Cornish Horizons who dismissed
my concerns and then ignored my emails and
phone calls.
Please avoid this place and Cornish Horizons
Another fantastic week at Ben's Barn, we will be back in December for our third stay of the year. We love this place.
BEWARE of this company. I am currently staying in Fowey in a cottage that we paid almost £1400 for the week. We arrived on Saturday to a very dirty kitchen, hob and cooker thick with grease completely unwashed as was some of the cutlery which still had food on, 2 pans were greasy, drawers with crumbs and human hair. The bin was filthy and living area full of dust and bits and human hairs on the worktops and carpets , sofa beds and sofas dirty - kitchen floor sticky - it certainly hadn’t been cleaned properly in months. Upstairs bathrooms, 2 toilets were dirty and not cleaned properly, radiators leaking green gunge and this morning 11 September we now have no hot water! The place is very tired and walls marked and flaking. The outside area untended and a bin full with rubbish. One of the outside beams has come off and just left. So very different to the photos and descriptions on the website. It’s such a shame to see what was once a beautiful cottage so tired and unloved. Just a money making venture. We asked to move to with immediate effect. We were offered a ‘clean’ to ‘rectify’ matters. I asked to move and was told this was a last resort. I’ve sent emails and had to chase this company twice on the phone and we are still here! It is a disgrace. Their customer service is appalling. I was told that I can’t complain until the end of my stay. I am currently looking into my statutory rights. Please consider this company and be very wary.
A beautiful home in a beautiful location, made for an excellent holiday
All in all a great place for four. 7 min walk into Padstow, 10 min walk back due to steep hill. Garden needs some up keep, but ok on a sunny afternoon.
Check in at 4pm and check out at 9am is a bit mean.
However we had a great stay
This holiday cottage was beautiful! Literally a 5 minute walk to the beach/harbour and shops. Very central to local amenities with no hills to climb! No parking (which we knew about prior) but we paid for a weeks car parking at the Rugby Club which has direct bus access every 15 minutes. We were able to load & unload the car right outside the property though. The streets are extremely narrow so if you have a large vehicle or an estate car you may get caught out! One road that we had to go up was so steep (16% gradient) that our car struggled to get up even in first gear.
The location of the property couldn’t have been situated any better, considering how busy the town was it was very quiet whilst being indoors.
The property is set over 3 floors, ground floor is the entrance/kitchen/living room (small sofas which aren’t the comfiest but still adequate) with an adjoining courtyard full of beach items- Paddle boards, buckets/spades etc. I’m assuming for communal use although we didn’t use them!
First floor is a bathroom with a shower, works well although the tray does tend to fill quickly!
A small bedroom with a double bed is located next to the bathroom with a built in wardrobe- again, full of items to play with, games, dolls etc.
Second floor compromises of an attic bedroom that is simple yet stunning! It has another double bed, a dressing table with a large mirror attached, as well as a hairdryer and a magnifying mirror that are provided. There are two windows with a padded window seat and one skylight window which allows ample light into the room. This window has a blind fitted should you wish to block out the light.
The property had a very warm, welcoming and homely feel to it and clearly belongs to someone who likes attention to detail by adding small pillows and cushions for added comfort.
There was a good supply of cleaning products throughout, washing up liquid/dishcloths provided. Toilet paper and bin liners also provided. Bath & hand towels provided. A clothes airer- provided. Well equipped kitchen with a kettle, microwave, cooker & toaster, variety of pots/pans and plenty of cutlery & utensils. There is also a dustpan & brush, a broom & hoover should you require it.
I was also impressed to see multiple mini fire extinguishers dotted around the property.
Overall I thought the property is outstanding. I would definitely recommend this one, you won’t be disappointed…
Spindrift at Plaidy was in an amazing location. Dog friendly and just what we wanted.
For how much we paid the welcome pack was poor.
We were sent 2 abrupt texts saying no book in before 4. We turned up at 4 and they were still cleaning property and cutting grass. They did not have time to do front garden as we went in at 4.10.
The neighbours are residents and cane across as not being happy us being there.
Did not enjoy experience if I'm being honest
Overall, we found the apartment to be comfortable and well-equipped. However, the following took the edge off our enjoyment of our stay:
1. On arrival I found that the basin in the ensuite bathroom would not drain. On removing the plug assembly I found that it was wrapped in a large quantity of hair from previous residents and black mouldy deposits that together were causing a blockage. I had to remove this by hand which proved quite difficult and, combined with the smell, made me feel physically sick. I also had to adjust the plug height to allow it to work properly.
2. The ensuite bathroom had a bath but no showering facility at all. This meant that all 4 of us had to share the other bathroom that did have a shower, which made things awkward and caused delays.
3. We did not use the bath but noted that the bath panel is broken and had a sharp, jagged edge along the top that could cause injury
4. The toilet roll supplied was very cheap and very flimsy. This proved to be false economy as far more was used than normal. We ended up buying a decent quality one ourselves.
5. The wifi speed was very poor at around 1.6Mbs down and 0.7Mbs up, causing problems with web pages and other applications. We achieved far higher speeds in local restaurants, even though the signal there is shared, or via 4G on our mobile phones.
