Boarding two precious poodles

I own two precious poodles who had not been left in a kennel before. One of them is also a rescue and not good with other dogs on lead, to say I was nervous was an understatement. I should not have worried, they love it there. I have used them twice this year in June and July, they are also booked in for Sept and Dec. The staff are caring, professional and the place is spotless. It was a joy to watch my nervous rescue off lead in the field with other smaller dogs. He is now much better off lead meeting strange dogs. It has done him the world of good. I highly recommend them.

They don’t care about your pet

They don’t care about your pet, they only care about making money.

We used this kennels for our 2 dogs in June as our usual kennels had no availability. One of my dogs has a health condition so needs tablets twice a day and feeding 3 times a day but nothing that any dog professional shouldn’t be able to handle - or anyone with common sense to be honest! I called to discuss my dogs needs and I spoke to the owner Jeremy. He was really rude during our conversation and made condescending comments about me calling to speak to him about my dogs condition prior to his stay. Despite my dog being vet prescribed 3 meals a day I was told the kennels categorically could not accommodate this and that if I wanted to use the kennels I would have to get my dog used to a twice daily feeding schedule; but in the same breath bragged about how large a team he has. I asked if an exception can be made on this occasion to accommodate my dogs welfare but Jeremy flat refused. This was obviously quite stressful for both us and our dog but felt we had no other choice so changed his feeding routine in preparation for his stay.

Jeremy told me he had added the notes to our booking but when we arrived the receptionist said there was nothing on file so I had to repeat the instructions again: didn’t seem like much care from the business owner had gone in to ensuring the correct details were properly documented to ensure my dogs health condition was properly addressed during his stay despite my efforts. The receptionist really seemed to struggle with understanding and noting down the very basic instructions (dog needs tablets twice a day fed directly and not mixed in with his food) and it made us very nervous whether our dog would actually be given his medication properly- we also actually had to pay a fee for them to give our dog his medication which I’ve never heard of before and seems like a way to make money from a captive audience. To add insult to injury to this already unsettling experience we were asked does my dog need to be fed twice a day or three times a day! So they could accommodate my dogs vet prescribed feeding schedule and it was disrupted at the business owners direction for absolutely no reason which is just terrible.

We also noticed on their website that all dogs are walked together and if you have a nervous dog (like we do) then you have to pay extra to have your dog walked separately- another fee we then had to pay, another way of profiting from a captive audience. When we arrived to drop off our dogs we saw what I can only describe as a pack of dogs (at least 15) being ‘walked’ by 2 people so I can’t imagine that the dogs are being given much attention or care.

From start to finish our experience was that profit came first and pet care was a secondary after thought. I won’t be using these kennels again and I would wholeheartedly suggest that you don’t either if you care about your pet being properly looked after.

Very happy Doggie

I recently left my Charlie here. I was so anxious as it was his first time away from us and we desperately missed and worried about him.
We picked here as he had done his puppy training here and was used to the smells and environment.
Charlie had a wonderful time and he has come back home and settled to his routine no problem.
I wouldn’t hesitate to bring him back again.
My only wish is that we got daily pictures or had some other way to check in without calling everyday.

Not the first time, not the last.

Just picked up our dog after a 2 week stay here, he's in great shape and clearly had a fantastic time. Asbo, true to his name, can be a handful but he loves them and they're clearly great with him. He'll be back!

My boy loves the place

My dog has boarded with them for many years and have to say they are amazing with my boy. He cant wait to get in there when I drop him off and looks well looked after and cared for when I collect him. The staff are highly professional and the place is immaculately clean and well kept.
I will be taking my dog there in future without hesitation .

Fantastic doggy day care

I use this company on a weekly basis for their doggy day care facility which is absolutely fantastic. They have been great at settling in my once nervous little pup, the staff are amazing and they do genuinely care about the dogs they have in their care. I would highly recommend, my puppy loves going and I wouldn't consider going elsewhere. Thank you to everyone at Country Boarding!!

Always a great service

We've been entrusting Cocoa into the care of Country Boarding for well over a year. It started with one hour play days on a Saturday afternoon when she was just a little pup, then has progressed to half and full day play days, overnight boarding, and grooming. During all these times, I have never, ever felt that Cocoa has been mistreated or abandoned. Every time we go to drop Cocoa off, all the staff know her and seem genuinely excited and happy to see her. Emily (who has not long left) and Marcella make such a fuss of her and know her personality so well. I am very protective and would not leave my Cocoa with just anyone, so leaving her to board anywhere fills me with anxiety, however I can say hand on heart that each time I have picked her up from an overnight stay, she has come out happy and every time I have left her, she is never nervous to go in(in fact I think sometimes she prefers it there than at home).

I am very much aware of what has recently happened to poor Luna and it is an absolute tragedy, and if that was Cocoa I would be devastated and would want answers, something I assume Luna’s owners and the owners of Country Boarding are discussing, privately, with the necessary authorities involved. I will admit after knowing what happened, I did not want to leave Cocoa there ever again. However, after speaking it through with my wife and having a very frank discussion with Renate, this allayed my fears.

What annoys me the most is the ‘keyboard warriors’ on this site, posting negative reviews on something that hasn’t happened to them, haven’t been involved with and more likely have never used the services of Country Boarding. Reading through the reviews, there are very conflicting accounts on the circumstances that led up to the tragedy, making me think that this is a case of hearsay and they do not know the full true facts of the situation.

I understand people are angry, but this is not the correct way of going about things and certainly not making threats to the staff that work there, to the extent private security had to be bought in.

A very happy pooch!

We've just picked up our very happy boy, Ludo, who was staying for 4 nights. He had a wonderful time, which we could tell by the fuss he made of the staff as he left! They took wonderful care of him during the heatwave, explaining how shifts were changed to start earlier and finish later to make sure the dogs could get out during the cooler times, with padding pools and water games. He's stayed previously and we've always left with a very positive impression, reinforced by his excitement when he returns! Thank you so much, and we'll be back! ☺️

FORGOTTEN DOG DIES IN HOT CAR

Email the organisation to get their 2020 Best Kennel Award Revoked and the RSPCA/ Licensing council.

I would give 0 stars if possible.

I’m absolutely heartbroken to have learnt about Luna’s death whilst she was in the care of this place.

Luna was a pug who was forgotten about and left in a hot van as the member of staff was more fixated on resolving a system issue in reception.

This also happened on the owner’s wedding day.

I can’t even imagine. 😔

Bloody appalling

Bloody appalling. A bride and groom entrusted you to look after their dog on their special day. The driver got back and "forgot" the dog was in the van on one of the hottest days of the year. Horrendous. That poor dog died in horrendous circumstances.

Shouldn’t even be 1 star…

Shouldn’t even be 1 star…. Murdered a poor pug in their care with neglect. Who leaves a dog in a van in a heatwave for 3 hours while they fix a system error?? You killed Luna and you should close this business I despise you for what you have done and anyone who makes excuses for them well I’d question wether you should have animals. You should be prosecuted I know if this was me I’d take you all the way and make Dam sure u cannot remain open. You deserve all of this negative feedback because people deserve to know you killed Luna on her family’s special day as well. I hope you know she will have suffered a painful death I hope that haunts you for the rest of your life. Enough I hope for you to close down. How about if she wasn’t responsive but possibly still living get her to a vet?? Regardless of wether u thought she could be saved she should have been taken to a vet and maybe they would have aided her a quicker painless passing… instead of you sitting there all night with with ugh I felt sick reading this today it’s really got to me

I have known Renata and Jeremy many…

I have known Renata and Jeremy many years since taking my dogs to their dog park. They are both genuine people who care passionately about their kennel business and the animals they look after. My pack recently stayed at the kennels and Renata personally made sure they were settled. Her staff looked after all five with great care.
We visit the field every day to walk our pack and today Renata came outside to tell us about the horrific tragedy of Luna dying in the van. She was distraught and emotional about what had happened to the dog and how tragically terrible it was for the owner. No words could really express her distress. She recounted the events on that awful day. She had had no sleep and had stayed with the dog all night. This event is traumatic, distressing an unprecedented. From it lessons will be learned and actions will be taken. From tragedy will come reflection. Renata is a kind sensitive animal lover and my heart goes out to her and of course to Luna’s owner. So very sad .
