Good first experience

This was our first experience of using this company and we were very impressed with the website. The site was easy to use and we found a really good break on the date we wanted to go. Very satisfied so far.

Review so far

The process is straightforward as it is with most modern websites.

I think £20 service fee is quite steep considering most comparison sites won’t charge. You are also probably taking a percentage fee from the hotel for booking.

There is a limited availability of properties in the highlands of Scotland beyond Pitlochry.

An amazing hotel!

A great hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff and great food. Our room had an amazing view over the valley and the River Thames and the grounds looked beautiful, but we did not explore them due to bad weather. Instead we used the hotel's very well equipped gym and the lovely pool. Sadly we were unable to get a massage as there was not an available slot so I would urge people to book before they go.

Two minor down points. The bar did not have any draft beer at all which is quite unusual these days so the choice was not very good. Also I thought the wine list was far to short and could do with improvement

Worthwhile checking for accommodation alternatives

Likes...
Finding hotels which I have not discovered by other means
Price often includes extras such as a dinner allowance which we do actually use
Dislike...
Finding a hotel in a location relevant to our travel plans is often tedious. A listing based on motorways or just a functioning map would help.
Normally have to look elsewhere for more information on the hotels.
Inconsistent descriptions of rooms - this isn't particular to Country Hotel breaks but an industry wide problem with the hotel website and the resellers using different terminology and having different availability for the same room. (That's apart from classic, heritage, executive, premium, privilege, suite etc having a different heirachy & meaning at different properties!)

The website was very easy to manage

The website was very easy to manage. It was well explained that we would receive a confirmation email of our booking which new duly did. Excellent value for money for our weekend break. Well done Countrybreaks

Excellent experience

The website is very clear and the booking process was simple. We also got a good deal compared to the prices being offered on the hotel website.
I was also pleased with the way a query was handled. A customer service individual agreed to send an email to the hotel and, within 24 hours, I received a reply. This enabled me to proceed and make the booking. In these post COVID days when customer service seems to have been forgotten, I was very pleased to receive a prompt response.

GUYERS HOUSE HOTEL - VERY POOR.

I paid £177 for a double room at Guyers House hotel for one night thinking this was a superior room in a superior hotel. Wrong! The bath had chips out of it, the curtain pelmet was falling down, the one window was absolutely filthy. There was no shelf to put wsh/shaving kit onto and a stupid towel rail that was over the end of the bath and too small. There was no reduction for a continental only breakfast either. DON'T STAY HERE!

Dear Mr Jones

We're sorry to hear about your experience at Guyers House Hotel. However, we are unable to locate a booking at Guyers House under the name of Jones made via Country Hotel Breaks. Perhaps your booking was made via another channel and not through Country Hotel Breaks?

Kind Regards

Improvement

In my opinion, rather than having to choose a part of the country to seek accommodation in, it would be better to have a UK map showing all hotels.

Disappointing Customer Service

Have a £500 voucher to use and wanted to book Eshott Hall over the Easter weekend. Needed to also book single room for our teenager and to know if we could take the dog with us. Spoke to customer service who needed to speak with the hotel directly. It took a week and a half for them to come back to me with rates which were almost double the original price as the original rooms were no longer available - (given a week and a half had passed). I had to ring them FOUR times to chase my booking and the reason they gave for their delay was the hotel was just not getting back to them. I think this shows they don't have a very good relationship with the hotel and doesn't show Eshott Hall Reservations Team in a good light either. They offered to look at different dates but it was important that it was Easter weekend, plus had they come back earlier the original deal would have been affordable. It was a waste of my time and if I didn't have a voucher I would not choose to book with this company.

Dear RR,

We are sorry you have felt it necessary to leave a 1 star review.

How lovely to have a £500 voucher to use. I have looked into your enquiry and can see my colleague took your details and contacted the hotel that same day.

We have 220 hotels featured on our portfolio and deal with a vast amount of enquiries on a daily basis. As you required a dog friendly room and the cost of a single room rate, this required us to contact the hotel and get in writing the correct information, which can on occasion, take time, although we do chase hotels for answers if we have not had one.

As you required a dog friendly room, not all their lower grade rooms are dog friendly, so I can't comment on whether they had a lower level dog friendly room available at the time of your enquiry or whether they only had the higher graded ones available due to it being the Easter weekend. I can also see the hotel has offered a very good discount on the single occupancy room for you.

We also have, as mentioned, 220 hotels in our portfolio, please let us know if there are any other hotels you are interested in so we can check availability for you.

Kind regards,

Country Hotel Breaks
