Shady operation

I placed an order on February 2 and I have not received any shipping updates. Their website says item ship in 2 to 3 days. I reached out to support over a week ago and have not heard back nor did I receive an automated email like most businesses send when you reach out to support. I reached out to support again a few days later and have still heard nothing. I messaged their page on Instagram and got an automatic response because they were not online, then I saw that they had seen my message later that day and still have not gotten a response. Because of the lack of communication I wanted to write a review and you cannot do so on Google because they are online based and don’t have a physical location that comes up. So I went to a previous email that they had sent asking for a review and when I click on that, it just takes me to their website and there is no option to leave a review anywhere if they were just honest about their shipping time or responded at all, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Also, they'll do some shady stuff like send you discount code email and then tell you that you don't qualify for it. 1). Don't send me a bunk coupon I can't use. 2). Put any terms, conditions, or special qualifications (clearly visible) in any advertisements or solicitations you promote. I don't want to go through the entire process only to learn, SURPRISE, we aren't going to honor the deal.

It's basically hot chocolate but watery…

It's basically hot chocolate but watery and very expensive. But the biggest problem is the slimy fraud like way they will overcharge your card and then have awful customer support to try and resolve it. Just stay away from them.

The sampler starter kit not as advertised

The sampler starter kit is advertised as including five specific flavors which are listed in the description and included in the product photo. Four of the samples matched up. The fifth was different and as a result I did not get the single flavor I most wanted. Customer service stated that the product page was wrong and I could return the sampler box. No additional help was provided. If you are buying the sampler box for a specific flavor, be aware that it may not actually be included.

BEWARE!! Crio Bru has questionable business practices!!

Images on the Crio Bru website show an organic logo on the front of the peppermint and pumpkin spice bags, and the word "organic" in the ingredients list. I ordered SIX POUNDS of cacao, plus a french press and some other items. The items that I received do not match the items that I ordered!! The items that I ordered showed organic on the website, but when I received them, NOT ONE SINGLE PRODUCT WAS MARKED ORGANIC, and the ingredients are not organic either!! Beware!! I found a phone number, but surprise, surprise, it doesn't work and the recording stated that it was an invalid number!! Contacted Crio Bru via email, only to be told that all of their products are organic. My response to them was.....IF YOUR PRODUCTS ARE ALL ORGANIC, YOU WOULD BE BRAGGING ON THAT FACT BY PUTTING IT ON THE BAGS YOU SHIP OUT!! AFTER ALL, THE BAGS ON YOUR WEBSITE HAVE THE ORGANIC LOGO, AND ORGANIC INGREDIENTS. THE PRODUCTS THAT I RECEIVED DO NOT MATCH THE PRODUCTS THAT I ORDERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I have to take photo's of the items that I am returning, use my tape, my time mailing it back, track it, wait for a refund (french press is nonrefimdable), etc!! Why Crio Bru thinks that it is okay to ship different products than what is advertised (false advertising), is beyond me!! Even more confusing is the fact that Crio Bru employees will answer an email with "all of our products are organic", and expect you to believe them, just because they said so!! Just because someone states that is organic, doesn't make it so!! I ordered the pumpkin spice and the peppermint. BEWARE FOLKS!! If I knew someone who could test these products that I received to confirm or disprove whether or not it is organic, I would do that!! I would love to be a whistleblower on this company!!

Don't ignore your instincts - this is NOT a reputable company.

The red flags start flying soon after landing on the website, and they continue to pop up as you get to checkout.
Thankfully the checkout page wouldn't honor any of the coupons this company offered and sent me, so I did manage to avoid buying and having to experience the bad or lack of customer service detailed in so many of these reviews.
Pity too, as it sounds like it might be a decent alternative to coffee - don't believe everything you read!

I experienced a serious health issue…

I experienced a serious health issue after consuming Crio Bru's brewed drink. I do think this product should come with a warning label so people can choose whether or not to consume it.

The following is the email I sent and the response from Crio Bru. Note: I edited some misspellings in my original email. Also, this is my third contact attempt, and the first time I received a response.

Hello. I would like to report an issue I had with your product. I first tried your product before bed in February. I had some heart palpitations, which I did not attribute to the brewed drink. The next evening, I had a second drink and experienced the same heart palpitations. I woke up the next morning in Afib/tachycardia and had to go to the hospital.
I wanted to alert you to this issue And also request a refund for this order as I will not be able to drink any more of it.

Please let me know if you have any questions for me. Thank you for your help.

I find it to be very concerning that Crio Bru did not ask one question about my experience.

Please research the ingredient Theobromine before consuming, ESPECIALLY if you take any medication. For example, Theobromine can slow heart rate which can be dangerous with blood pressure medicines and beta blockers. Make sure this ingredient will not interfere with any medications.

Terrible Customer Service, Buyer Beware

First of all, I want to say that the Double Chocolate variety is pretty good. I couldn't find the large bag on Crio Bru's poorly designed site, so instead got a bag of "Maya," which was also a light roast. What is not spelled out on the site is that this variety is flavored, with cinnamon and cayenne. Nasty. I contacted customer service, who responded with a boilerplate reply, which said no refund, no exchange, and that I must have made it wrong. I did not make it wrong, it takes like it's meant to taste, but that taste is vile. Undrinkable. I don't put cinnamon in my coffee and I certainly don't add cayenne. Also avoid their starter sets that feature the cheapest, flimsiest French Press ever made. Mine broke within a week.

TL;DR: Crio Bru makes an OK coffee alternative, but customer service is abysmal. Avoid the foul "Maya" and the starter sets.

NO Customer Service AT ALL

I was sent a renewal message on my email account. Our credit card, which had been violated, was deleted and I needed to update. When I inquired about scheduling a delay in my monthly order, I was told that I did not have a subscription with them. I sent the letter that they'd sent me, indicating I did indeed have a subscription with them, and had had one for many months. I asked that a supervisor be directed to my inquiry, and that their customer support was abysmal. I suggested that perhaps I should just cancel if that were the case. The reply I received, was how to cancel - with a forward to that area on their site.

Fraudulent advertising and terrible taste

I ordered three large bags of different flavors based on site claims of chocolate taste and being decaffeinated. Even reviews (which I now believe are fraudulent) confirmed the company's claims. I purchased three large bags since I drink decaf mochas every night and Wondercocoa is no longer available. The first bag I tried was chocolate toffee which had an artificial toffee taste and no chocolate flavor at all. After cooling in fridge the liquid contained globs of fat (cocoa butter according to rep), inspite of nutritional facts indicating O grams fat. After finishing the bag I opened the three pound bag of double chocolate. When Double Chocolate bag had no chocolate taste, either I contacted the company about returning the third three pound bag which was still unopened and four years prior to expiration. Because it was beyond 30 days after purchase they refused to accept the return of the third unopened bag. I am most concerned about the misleading advertising and presumed fraudulent fabricated reviews on Crio Bru site, since there is no way to leave a review there.

Stay away

First of all, I know to be leery of a company that doesn’t have a phone number. They have a point system, but you can’t redeem the points unless you have a computer which unfortunately I don’t just a cell phone. Also I ordered a new flavo for close to $40 and it taste awful and smells like dog dodo and cannot drink it and they won’t Give me my money back or apply it towards a purchase of a new product that I have ordered before, even though have been ordering from them for awhile. Horrible customer service.

Too long wait time for delivery!

Very long time to wait for product. I ordered a product on 5/21/25 and still have not received it! But they charge you right away! USPS says that the product "has likely been delivered"! Yikes. This is not the first time I have experienced long ship times. When you order directly from the company, this is what happens, in my experience. I have since been buying from Amazon with 2 day delivery time, but this last order, I failed to note that it was being shipped directly from the company. Buy from Amazon and note delivery dates and where it is being shipped from! Too bad the company can't figure out how to get the product to their customers on time. If I could find another product that is as good, I would switch to that company in a heartbeat.

DISAPPOINTED.

I truly like the product, which was gifted to me (and LATE IN ARRIVING).BUT. I wanted to place my first order on 06/ 05/ 25. I saw advertised on their websites,two different samplers that had 3- 4oz. bags & a couple of gree sampler sized called " littles". I thought the price advertised was reasonable until I went to checkout and the price was THREE
TIMES HIGHER! So, thanks, but no thanks "Crio Bru."

Slow

Edit - apparently it's not a scam, finally go the package. Just very slow.

I can't tell if it's a scam or not. I placed an order two weeks ago, they sent a tracking link which indicated that they never sent it. I emailed to ask if they were going to send it and they sent me the same tracking link that said they hadn't sent it. If nothing else, don't order through their website.

Can’t redeem my points

I’ve been buying crio bru for several years and like the product. I thought by now I should have enough points to get some kind of freebie, but couldn’t find how to redeem points. So I contacted customer service and was told I have to use a desktop or laptop to redeem points. Not a phone or tablet. ????

Basically no customer service

I was a first time buyer and had ordered the starter kit and a couple of additional products. At the time the website stated most orders ship within 3 to 4 days. A month later I have not received my order, nor have I received a single update on the status of my order during this time. However, there has been no issue in receiving multiple soliciting emails, so apparently they had a way to communicate with me. I wrote them and requested a refund, which they did immediately within 24 hrs, and I appreciate that. Very disappointed in the total lack of communication.

Oh, La La, so much better than coffee!

I love the product! It helped provide an easy transition off of coffee, which was spiking my cortisol in the morning. It gives me a better, softer, longer, more effective boost. And oh, La,La, I LOVE the taste. I add my whey-based morning breakfast shake protein powder to it. I get to start my morning with a tasty, healthy cup of hot chocolate. I love the French press that came with the starter kit. I'm now on my third 3-lb bag. It's now my morning go-to that gets my day started right!

Horrible return policy

I have found a couple of very flavourful blends over the approximately 3 years I've been using Crio Bru.
Recently, I bought the Chai flavour and it was absolutely terrible, horrible. For the first time ever, I wrote the company and requested to return it and exchange for a different flavour (not asking for any money) but they refused. Apparently I didn't meet their return policy because I had tried the flavour first. Their response,
"We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy our product. Your order from November 23 2024, is not in compliance with our return guarantee because it is not a promotional item purchased on our website or is not unopened. We hope that you'll give the product another try."
I'm not sure how one is supposed to try a flavour without opening it. I will most certainly consider, and I recommend you do as well, this terrible return policy when looking at new flavours.
Before you buy anything from Crio Bru, consider the policies. I tossed the bag in the trash and I'm only out $16 USD, but now my trust in the company has dropped considerably.

Very Disappointed with shipping experience and customer service response

Placed an order directly from company website on Oct 17. Normally I receive my order within about 3-4 days each time, have been ordering for about a year. On Oct 18 I received a tracking notice that my order was being processed IN NEW JERSEY! This company is in Santa Barbara, CA and I have never had a shipment come from New Jersey. When I contacted the company about this via email, the response I received was an apology and a new tracking number, this time my order was in Pennsylvania! In my original email to the company I asked if something changed or why was it coming from the east coast but received no response to this question, just the new tracking number from PA. It is now Oct 26 and now the tracking info (USPS) says it is being delivered today. Nine days to receive an order is very different. I am disappointed that the company didn't answer my question as to why the product was being shipped from the east coast now. I am disappointed in the wait time. I think if the company has changed their shipping times they need to make customers aware so they can plan their order timing better. I had to order a small Crio Bru from Amazon (I have Prime 2 day shipping) because I had no idea when the first package would arrive because the USPS tracking which usually gives an estimated delivery date had NO delivery date on the tracking info until Oct 26, the supposed day of delivery. Very disappointed and will order from Amazon from now on. Also, when I order from the company website, it says I have earned points, but there is never any way to add these points to get a discount on my order. I love the product but will not buy from the company website again.

Bad Customer Service = Bad product

You can have the greatest product in the world but if you have crappy customer service your product sucks! This was a product I drank every morning mixed in with my mate, but I will be using something else from here on out. I will not support bad Service. I also will not support lying customer service representatives. And if I pay $50 for product, it better either come to me or my daughter but when it just disappears altogether you’ve totally lost not only my support but you’re going to get a better review. You’re dead to me!
