Terrible experience
Worse experience I ever had !!!!
I hit a kangaroo while heading from Hobart to Brisbane and they left me with out any assistance for more than 24hrs waiting in the road.at the end I lost my flight back to Hobart had to book a hotel and new tickets and also lost my bond. I hardly recommend you to deal with another company. Cruisin is the worse!!!
The camper van is nice
The camper van is nice, clean and tidy. It is easy to drive. All provided equipment are in good condition, except water pipe adapters which is not working nicely. It took us to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Bruny Island safely. Highly recommended and looking forward to coming again in next trip.

Campervan was great
Campervan was great. Had everything we needed. Extra blankets would be good as it was very cold. The instructions for the heating was to keep temperature on 24deg but this wasn't warm enough for how cold it was. However, we would definitely book again.

Incredible Experience – Highly Recommend!
Incredible Experience – Highly Recommend!
We had the best 10 days traveling in a Cruisin’ Motorhome! As a family of four (including a toddler), we loved the comfort, space, and freedom it provided. Exploring Tasmania at our own pace was an unforgettable experience. The RV was spotless, well-equipped, and easy to drive. The team was friendly and helpful, making the whole process seamless. We’re now hooked on RV travel and can’t wait to do it again—highly recommend Cruisin’ Motorhomes!

Small scratch = $2500
The initial face to face customer service was good… However we paid the $5000 bond and after scratching the paint we had to pay over half the bond for a max $500 job. The damage was minimal and the communication from the company was non existent. We had to keep emailing them to find out how much was going to be taken out of the bond and when we’d receive the rest of it back. They’re thieving scumbags. Would not use them again
A disappointing and frustrating experience
I rented a Sandpiper motor home from their Hobart depot for 2 weeks commencing 15th January this year. In short the experience was disappointing.
Whilst there were no mechanical issues with the motor a number of equipment problems affecting both the fridge and the AC/Heating units manifested themselves and since the manual provided had not been updated to reflect equipment changes several calls to their technical support were required.
For example it would have been helpful to have been warned that parking the van on even a very slight slope ( ie in excess of 4 degrees) would result in the fridge failing to function whilst all the indicators showed it operating normally! To discover a fridge full of warm (and in some cases spoiled) food in the morning was
not a happy experience.
Only one 3.7kg gas bottle was provided for the 2 weeks (which seems miserly) and the table and chairs provided as part of the insurance package were of poor quality and the table old, battered and dirty!
It is perhaps indicative that no post rental contact was made from the company inviting a customer review and when contact was made with their Customer Services their response was frankly lamentable.
The company proudly proclaim themselves to be ‘Family Owned and Operated’. Maybe it’s time they hired some outside management to shake them out of their complacency.
Tasmanian camper hire
Ist van broke down 14 kilometres from pick up in Hobart, the van would not go into reverse gear. Spent first 90mins of our holiday waiting for replacement van, then took second camper as far as road side outside Penquin where engine had serious fault and lost all power, phoned Cruising who finally after 2 hours ordered a mechanic who was very helpful but could not repair van. Mechanic could not obtain parts as it was the weekend after being stuck on side of road all day we limped to a camp-site in Penquin Cruising finally delivered 3rd van at 8.30pm so we lost a day and night from our holiday. We were travelling with friends who stayed with us so they lost time aswell. When we checked 3rd van back to Hobart and asked for compensation told possibly in a week's time. We received $253.04 just under a days hire no apology for all time lost on holiday nothing for our companions. I might add that our friends van was very dirty and the inside fittings were very worn. Would not hire from Cruising ever.
Do not hire from this company
The motor home had so many issues. It leaked on our bed when it rained. The bathroom door flew open all then time while driving. I raised all the issues with them and they offered us a $200 voucher for them and then ceased answering emails. I can't list all the problems the motor home had here, but we did not get what we paid for. They are not a good company to hire from.
Very rude & customer service next to…
Very rude & customer service next to non-existent.
1. The vehicle was described on specification sheet as being 0 to 4 years old. We specifically booked with Cruisin as you stated the age of the vehicle and some other providers which we looked at did not state the age. We instead received a vehicle which was built in March 2018, making it over 5 years old. The vehicle was extremely noisy on the road which did not make for a pleasant trip when spending hours driving in it daily.
2. On the second day the road was wet and it became evident the vehicle was not able to handle these conditions. The vehicle slipped whilst on the wet road going down a not very steep hill. As such we drove very cautiously and had to stop often to allow motorists to pass. Upon further inspection it was evident the front driver’s side tyre had limited tread particularly on the inside of the wheel.
3. The vehicle driving lights did not work. Upon switching to “on” there was no light, and when switched to the “off” position there was a very faint light only. As a result we were forced to stop driving by around 5pm daily due to the limited light after this and we did not feel it safe to be driving a vehicle in these conditions. As a result we did not get to all of our desired destinations as we were unable to travel later in the day or early in the morning. When the lights were placed on high beam, there did appear to be some degree of light however the switch to put them on high-beam would not stay on, so the only way to drive with them on was to hold down the high-beam switch whilst driving.
4. The water pump stopped working on day 5 of our trip. It appeared to have air in the line. That night we booked into a paid campsite with water as a result and hoped that this would help resolve the issue by flushing out the line. It did not and for the rest of the trip we were forced to pay for campsites with water as a result of this issue. On the final night, we stayed at a campsite in Hobart which had extremely high water pressure. When we returned the van the water pump appeared to be working when it was tested. We believe this was due to the high water pressure from the night prior being enough to flush out the air in the line as it did not work prior to this.
Careful dealing with this company
Whilst we didn't have any real issues with the motor home itself, the hire company was a completely different story. We had $5000 taken from our bank account which we initially agreed to with the contract stipulating this bond would be returned within 2 weeks of returning the van. After the 2 weeks we started making phone calls because we hadn't received our $5000 back and we were told there was a problem with our credit card. So it seems our credit card worked fine for them to take our money but mysteriously wouldn't work to return it! I placed no less than 5 phone calls and 2 emails but couldn't get a result because every customer service operator said the same thing about our credit card details not being in there "vault". Clearly this was a scam for them to delay repayment so they can extract maximum interest on OUR money! After 3 weeks we were now suffering anxiety and we eventually threatened them with legal action. I placed yet another desperate call on a Saturday but was told that nothing could be done because it was now the weekend. After composing a very "colourful" email we awoke on Sunday to an email with our final receipt showing our refund payment. Finally we got our money back but this was off the back of many phone calls, emails and threats of legal action. Disgusting company behavior to put people through something like this and I urge anyone to be very careful dealing with these unscrupulous pirates.
Cruisin Motorhomes Hobart Issues
My wife and I had booked a Cruisin Sandpiper 3 years ago because this was the Motorhome that best suited our needs, but due to Covid and border closures we were not able to travel to Tasmania until 13 February 2023. We had confirmation on a number of occasions from Cruisin throughout those 3 years, that the Sandpiper motorhome was what we had booked and would be available to us on pickup date. On arrival to pick up the Motorhome we were not told that our Sandpiper was not available, we picked up the change of vehicle when we saw a diagram of a 6 berth vehicle. We immediately advised the Cruisin Representative that this was not the Motorhome we had booked. The reason why we booked the smaller Sandpiper was because of the narrow Tasmanian roads, my lack of confidence in driving a larger vehicle and also it had a proper matteress on the double bed, for comfort. We then were given the run a round with excuses, one being our vehicle had been allocated to someone else, we then asked to speak to the Manager who said our vehicle that we had booked, had an airbag problem and they did not have time to fix it. There were 3 other Sandpiper vehicles waiting in their pick up area, which we were told were allocated to other persons. My wife asked for us to have one of those and upgrade someone else and the Manager wouldnt help us with that request after a long time negotiating with him. To be honest we dont believe we were given the right reasons for why our booked Sandpiper was not available and you didnt even give us a courtesy call. We felt the Rep and Manager, were just making up excuses on the run, or they couldnt be bothered altering their information to give us another Sandpiper. The large 6 Berth Motorhome made for an extremely uncomfortable driving experience and unfortunately made our long awaited holiday to Tasmania extremely dissapointing. Also as we were not prepared to sleep in the bed above the driving cab because we werent able to climb the ladder to reach the bed, the Cruisin Rep. dropped the rear table of the lounge area, and made it into a double bed, by using the seat cushions, which made for a very uncomfortable 2 weeks trying to sleep on these cushions, which kept slipping off the table. Our Sandpiper had been booked for 3 years as said previously and we are very angry and disappointed with the lack of service that your company provided us on pick up. We wont be recommending Cruisin company Hobart, to anyone in the future and we will not give a good review on Facebook. SERVICE and HONESTY needs to improve. Ron and Sheryl Riley - Sydney NSW
