The Perspex is good quality and the cover prevents scratching. I found it easy to fit but 4mm was not enough to reduce the noise as much as I hoped (I live by a railway line). If ordering again I would opt for 5mm.

It is difficult to say if the thermal insulation or the sound reduction is better. Both are outstanding. I used an indoor-outdoor thermometer to measure the temp inside the shutters and outside the shutters. I measured a 6-degree C difference in the windows with the secondary glazing and those without. The noise reduction is significant. We live on a busy road with two bus routes and we are sleeping much better now with the 5 mm secondary glazing. In addition, I had to design and install a frame for the acrylic windows (240cm x 117cm). During the last storm we registered 90+ MPH winds. The windows/secondary glazing held up without any issues.
